I haven't seen any concrete word of patch - some mild hints for a "maybe" - but not any official statemt except "We are discussing if a patch is necassery" a while back.
So, whats the latest announcement about a patch for 1.3 vanilla/BI?

I'd be really interested I know this, 1.3 is pretty buggy.
They are still collecting data and trying to convince SEGA to fund a patch last I heard.
Judging by the bugs I think they have good ground for some funding for a patch.
Personally I don't mind if they take a while with the patch as long as they fix the problems.
If you copy - paste the opening post in the bug thread you get 4 pages of bugs in normal 12 writing in word, so its quite a few bugs I'd say.(..)Quote:

Shocking indeed!
I had no idea that they ever said that.
I know SEGA said that they will try to support the game(and I think this is a pretty good time to do so).
But as I said earlier, CA should have a good basis for some money for a patch to fix these problems(and hopefully not create big bugs in the process).
Just hope SEGA agrees.
Sure hope so, but even if they don't, we still have legion 2 (Same timeframe as vanilla if I'm not mistaken) coming 'round the corner! (Slitherine support they're games quite well, and legion 2 will have 3D battles just like RTW)
2006 release?
I've noticed that many people call things bugs that CA did on purpose as part of the game so.....Quote:

Hellenes, there's a difference Blizzard has sold so many copies of all thier games they can afford support like that.
Sega-CA have no less money... But thats irrelevant...Quote:

But isnt it strange that WoW has 4.000.000 people paying and playing it?
How many people play RTW fo FREE online?
Blizzard has released 20 patches for Warcraft III, 20 patches for christ sake!!!
And a patch for Starcraft, will we see a patch for Shogun?
Hellenes
So many patches=unstable game.
I don't understand why hellenes are so proud of Blizzard on releasing so many patches, that just only means the original game is either unbalanced or buggy.
There was new patch for UT 2004 on Friday.~:)
This game is very moddable.
(Have not seen Phalanx yet.)~:)
"Good news for those who like such things! The patch is now being tested, which means that it will be available within a reasonable amount of time. I must stress that "reasonable" in this context means when it's ready, and not within days. There will be further announcements shortly as to what has been fixed."
Hope that improves a few people's day.
Defenitely CF, thanks! Take your time and do it right. Better to release a final patch than hurry and things get overlooked.Quote:

Well I also knwo many people that have lost their account passwords and had them replaced ASAP, what about Starcraft's patch does it show a pattern?Quote:

Given he is such a sensible chap, CF has indicated there will be a patch.
CA have always made sure that when they do patch, that it is as comprehensive a patch as possible, "at that time".
We must have patience fellow "grasshoppers".
Thanks for the info CF! If you need any help with the testing, I'm available for a small fee...
Well, I figured that I must express my own opinion about Buzzard...err, I mean Blizzard. As an ex-Diablo player and a former Buzzard fan ('twas so long ago) I remember how many people online waited for the fabled 1.10 patch. It took them what a year, or probably even more to get it released, I can't quite recall. Instead of dealing with immediate issues on Bnet, Buzzard was taking it's time. I remember some messages that Buzzard doubled it's team working on 1.10 patch. ~:joker: Well, from being a 1-person team it became a 2-person team.~:joker: So, my point is, that while Buzzard's games are selling like crack, it doesn't mean that they have the best customer support. They don't. They are not the Idol that I worship.Quote:

Weeeee...That's good news indeed. While I haven't noticed the memory leak per se, I've noticed that it takes awhile for RTW to shut down - probably clears all that used up memory.Quote:

And I think I speak for the majority of TW fans (and I do consider myself a fan, albeit not an uncritical one) when I say - take your time, CA. Don't be pressurised into releasing it without thorough testing. RTW has the potential to be a truly classic game, and this is really the last chance to allow it to realise that full potential. Now that we know a patch is on the way, I'm sure we'd all be happier to wait until it's perfected, even if that takes months, than have it delivered immediately and immediately start whining about something new that's broken.
I agree.~:cheers:Quote:

The patch news is very welcome indeed.
So yes, my day has improved.
The only real "deadline" I would think would be to get the patch out before people open their RTW presents from whatever holiday gift thing they do. :) Or better yet somewhat before that so positive word of mouth can get around a bit so more people ask for, and or buy the expansion and game.
Great news, and as the others said, don't rush it!
It does harm to have more then 20 patches.Quote:

Really, if they can't fix a game after relasing 20 patches that only shows their incompetance.
I don't understand this one.Quote:

Starcraft a game 8+ years old recieves a patch, now will CA release a patch for Shogun?Quote:

(Crossing my fingers hoping CA can figure out how to get ranged units and skirmishers to actually do their duty on a regular basis. It would really help the AI.)

WC3 and Half-Life quite a bit, both are excellent games, and what makes them even more great is that they are constantly updated and have gone through many many patches that would elminate many of the "structural" bugs (like the memory leak, load-save issues) as well as addressing the harder to fix balancing issues.
RTW is indeed a great game, but it is not nearly as great as it could be because it has so many issues.
Basically RTW's support is not up to par with the quality of the game, and it really hurts it, especially since we know other great games out there, that have such high quality support.
I say release a patch (1.3b?) as soon as possible that deals with "structural" bugs (like the memory leak, load-save issues) so we can play the game without a hassel, then release all the balancing junk in a patch later.
Is there any NEED for patch for Shogun?Quote:

Its great news about the patch.
Imho nobody should be comparing Blizzard to CA as an example to look up to. Ive had several bad experiences with them. Im no talking about Quality of game, yes they have good devs but their Good *support* as you put it is seriously lacking in many areas. Areas that I think CA could have a pat on the back for.
Ive just cancelled my WoW account because of these *issues* with Blizzard. The Game was fine (and please dont think your a class above mmorpg gamers) but Blizzards *people* policies were not.
Another Game I play - well series of games are the X:BTF X2: the Threat and recently the extremely buggy and poorly released X3: The reunion by Egosoft, published by Deepsilver....and boy is that game buggy. So buggy that they had a patch out 2 days after shipping and another 2 weeks later. Now its 6 weeks later and they are nearly finished on another patch.
My point is that although Im really frustrated at small companies releasing buggy games (due to publisher pressure), and I personally find it insulting to consumers that we let them do this - I really enjoy the games and dont want to see them dropped. (Egosoft is reknown for supporting games for years after though and then after fixing the game - they add HUGE amounts of new content free - they did this with X2 2 years after publication)
So all this bickering about support and who supports who the best is irrelevant because they are too many variables and complications and points of view to consider.
Indeed it does. Thank you very much  .Quote:

I think both as well.
The pilum bug is in both so it is probably a universal problem.
Excellent CF, looking forward to it.

Will someone with the necessary powers rate this thread CA please?

Hmmm Great news for sure! even tho i only knoticed 2 major bugs... the Men getting stuck in tower and not allowing more up bug (AI) and the memory leak, three if you count the fact the fact that my assassain killed a faction heir with a 2 percent chance but that was just luck ~DQuote:

I guess you could use a patch yourself if you even try stuff at those odds! ~;) Do you ever play poker? And where? ~D ~:cheers:Quote:

Way to go CA!

I get the distinct impression that any decisions regarding patches are the domain of the publisher, not the developer.
But its still good to see CA and/or SEGA have decided to do a patch.
They can take as long as they like as far as I'm concerned. The more comprehensive and bug-free the better.
Edit: oops, my bad. Never mind.
I think that post is talking about 1.2 patch. ~:)Quote:

Hope that's useful. ~:)

Thanks for getting rid of the memory leak among others. ~:)

What are "shadow factions"? The Roman Rebels? The Romano-British?
Good thing that memory leak's out of here! ~
Excellent stuff there CF! Looks like the vast majority of our grumbles are being addressed! I'm interested to see what the 'large number of changes to the balance of the game in response to the extended play that has been done by forum users' will entail - I hope you haven't listened to ALL the ideas here!
Looking forward to downloading it whenever it's finished!

Dear Captain Fishpants,
Has the very important "reinforcements" bug discussed in this thread been addressed too?
.
Sticky this thread, should we?
Excellent news indeed. :san_wink: Thanks, CA!
It would be better if the mods made a new sticky thread about it, named "current patch status" or somesuch.
