I've only got one sure place-holder:
1. The Ramones
Forming a definitive top 5 could take hours. I'll come back when I'm done.
Iron Maiden, Metallica, Avenged Sevenfold, In Flames and Black Sabbath probably, though there are so many bands I could have said.
I like em...:2thumbsup:Quote:

2) Rise Against - Gotta love Hardcore Socialist Punk
3) Franz Ferdinand - One time Indie Rockers, now more of a unique brand of Pop-Rock
4/5) Arctic Monkeys - More Sheffield (IIRC) based Indie Rock, but I think these guys are more becoming like Franz in that they are popularising a bit more.
4/5) The Living End - Australian Pub Rock. Good music.

Funkadelic
Pink Floyd

Nickleback
Coldplay
Pink Floyd
AC/DC

1The BEATLES
2THE WHO
3MUSE
4OASIS
5KASABIAN
boo!
...
1. Syd Barrett: so much talent gone to waste so badly... still brings tears to my eyes to think about it.
2. Jefferson Airplane: a huge range of music, from jam-band to folk rock to psychedelic metal to blues, and all of it amazing.
3. Creedence: cool.
4. Jimi Hendrix: THE best guitar player in history, no exceptions, no arguments.
5. Robert Johnson: may not have written much of what he played, and he only recorded 24 songs total, but he is the epitomy of the blues. There will never be another. Not to mention the greatest guitarist until Hendrix.
(I'm in my hometown for the week. Decided to stop by and say hi.)
Rubber
Hair
Garage
Elastic
Marching
:laugh4:
Beastie Boys :bling:
The Streets
The Skatelites
Radiohead
The Clash
no special order
I don't think I could make a list of 5 current bands that I like, so I'm going to have to live in the past some here.
Currently producing that I like:
Tool
NIN
Broken up or degraded, but old stuff still gets lots of play:
Godflesh
Slayer
Prong
Too hard to pick a top 5.
Bands I'm listening to at the moment though
Black Sabbath
Yob
Electric Wizard
Jesu
Lazarus Blackstar
In no order.
Five Iron Frenzy
Relient K
Iron Maiden
The Allman Brothers Band
Mephiskapheles? Maybe. I'm unsure for number 5...
I love how you slipped Relient K in there.Quote:

Augh... Impossible to choose 5 only....
Let's say five I've listened recently:
Guerilla poubelle (punk)
Sonata Artica
The Gathering
Radiohead
The suicide machines
In no order -
Soundgarden
Black sabbath
Dead kennedys
Led zeppelin
The Misfits
Franz Ferdinand
Kasabian
Josh Groban
Keane
Snow Patrol
I was about to post when I realized I posted in this thread last year.
One thing I noticed is that one can pretty much tell what age group a person is in from their selections. Being from the "boomers" my choices pretty much tell it all.
1) The Beatles
2) Moody Blues
3) The Eagles
4) Pink Floyd
5) ZZ Top
I feel some guilt not including Fleetwood Mac, Rolling Stones, Sabath, THE BOSS, Stone Pilots, and the Jimi Hendrix Experience - but what the hey. Top 5, eh?
I should probably weigh in here. In no order-
Pink Floyd
The Beatles
Led Zeppelin
Rush
Bruce Springsteen (Up to and including the release of Darkness On The Edge of Town. He gets a bit patchy after that.)
1) Anberlin
2) Billy Talent
3) Rise Against
4) Sum 41
5) Linkin Park

As a tail end baby boomer, I resemble that remark.
Pink Floyd
Jefferson Airplane
Deep Purple
Simon & Garfunkel
Vanilla Fudge
Not necessarily, IIRC BKS is 19 (or 20) and look at his list. I'm only 16 a mine was almost entirely comprised of "oldies" bands and/or bands formed before my birth.Quote:

Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers
The Bottle Rockets
The Drive By Truckers
The Big Wu
Umphrey's McGee
Rocket From the Crypt
The Supersuckers
moe.
for starters
I've heard them, but they were pretty average in my modest opinion. It's not for me, Umphrey's McGee attempts to do to many things (and genres in one song if that makes any sense at all) at once. The Big Wu I just can't stand. The Drive By Truckers is too "dark" for me. Give me Jimi Hendrix or Pink Floyd any day.Quote:

Your opinion is obviously different, and I can't change that so I won't attempt to.
