I was just curious - what is your all-time best mile time? I am currently a sophomore in high school and am nearing the end of my Track season. My personal record for the mile came about two weeks ago at 4:49.1 and I am running the mile again at this Friday's sectional meet, where my goal is to go under 4:43.
I know there have to be some runners in here, what is your best time?

When I use to run it was 5:30. 4:49 is damn impressive though. I think the best on our track and cross country team could do it in around 4:30 something.Quote:

i never move a mile i just stay on my computer all day
3 miles up, 3 miles down. My measuring device was a car though. I.e. I've driven the distance to make sure its 6 miles. I don't know, maybe on foot I cut corners or something, but that is the time. Add half a mile another 5 minutes if you want. Or maybe I'm just very fit. ~:cool:Quote:

I can't say I've ever run faster than 7:05 for a mile. My 2 mile run is usually in the mid to high 1400s. Never been a fast runner though. I can run for fairly long distances and I can march all bloody day though with a pack and full kit.
How long have you guys been training at running? I'd like to improve my times to at least the mid six minutes. Any good techniques besides just running and pushing yourself harder each time?
I'm no sprinter; my mile time is probably around six minutes. It's been so long since I've run just one mile.:juggle2:
Hmm... depends, two miles in 10:00 is pretty common for me, I can probably do 1 mile in 4:45 or less.

I don't do track at my school, but I can get a 5:49 in the mile. At my school, the soccer program as well as the coach is very hard. I play soccer as a freshman in highschool on the varsity line. Because I am a freshman though, I'm in the JV period, because that's where you start as a freshman. I'm 15 and I can still run that time. I'm not even the fastest. A kid who was in the soccer program at my school didn't make any of the teams (varsity or junior varsity), so decided to run track. He said track is easier than soccer, so it doesn't really matter if the purpose of track is running.Quote:

Actually, I am a distance runner and do both Cross Country and Track. I have been training for about four months now. If I were a track "all-star" I would be running in the low 4:20s. Olympic runners would be below 4:00. As you can see, I'm a far from being close to either of these two times. Twenty seconds is a big hurdle to jump, so to speak.Quote:

I once forgot i had to pick up my brother from school, ran the mile from our house to his school in about 10 minutes, while carrying a heavy backpack.
I was a skinny little kid with strong legs and 0% body fat. Although I was not on a track team, I could naturally run pretty well, since I wasn't carrying any weight. Every time I got a haircut, my weight went down 10%.
Anyway, my best time for the mile (1.6km) was around 5:30.
