I added "King" as a title to my real given name, it is an happy coincidence that in the starting period of MTW, the King of Scots is King Malcolm III...
I later requested it be changed to "Duke", since "King" would rank above Her Majesty the Queen... And I got a little bored...
Guess.
Er, my last name is Mason, so i figured what would be a snappy nickname...ended up with Masy...
What he said.Quote:

I got it from my usernames at the SCC and Totalrome.com (or whatever the .___ is).
Where it came from before that? Guess.
Nickname, but not one given to me by me peers, rather, given to me by my teacher in Primary school. People took it up, mainly because it rhymed with some ... not-very-polite (for Primary schoolers) adjectives. Well, my being a stubborn up-yours kind-of-guy, I decided to take it on as a mark of pride ... and am still called that.
Got together with some friends for a Descent LAN party back in '96(?). I wasn't much of a FPS-type player back then, while a couple of the guys I was playing with were assassins. I was such a n00b I could barely stay alive for a few seconds. After a while, I changed my player name to represent what I felt like, just a pilot-less target to be shot down during training, and have used it online for gaming ever since.
I added something About War or something when I first sign up for Gamespy in March 2004,and one name they picked out for me,because my first name was un-avabile, I pick AntiWarmanCake.. and I used it ever since, even though my Warman name went thoguh serve varitons of it, it still has the Warman in it,because without the Name Warman, there is no Warman :-) :-)
I'm not sure exactly where I got mine. I think I might have had a huge cold when I first used Hankerchief somewhere. But that still doesn't explain the missing D and the fact that I now intentionally spell hankerchief this way. :dizzy2:
As for "General":

Mine is from an excellent kid's cartoon - Histeria, which made fun of history while teaching it (albeit in a cursory manner). It had a skit about Alexander the Great and his father. Alexander would keep on doing impressive things that his father would dismiss as "pretty good."
Alexander (while surfing on a chariot pulled by lions): Hey dad! Check this out!
Dad: Pretty good, son. Not great; but pretty good.
I found it funny, and I'm certainly not great...
well my orignal name was deathtoallhumans but apparently people on this website got offened by it so i changed it to
Bar Kochba - was leader of the great jewish rebbelion against the romans so i thought it would be a good name and i admire the guy
A Roman Emperor whose name doesn't sound bad, or is incredibly deranged. At least, not compared to most of the Julio-Augustan dynasty.
I was inspired after a couple people in my town got attacked and rather seriously injured by feral rabbits.
And it reminds me of Monty Python.
Crazed Rabbit
Back in the Shogun Total War days, I was looking for a way to turn my real name into a Japanese sounding name. I tried appending several common endings of Japanese names I knew and "oshi" seemed to fit best with "Greg". My only fear was that "gregoshi" might actually mean something in Japanese. If it does, nobody has told me in 6 years. :laugh4:
seemed like a good name at the time. i'm over it now, and would change it but for losing the length of time i've had it here.
Typed in random letters, got Hiji.
I used to play Monster Hunter with this name, taken from (surprisingly) Dacian religion, and decided to use that name here too because it was relevant.
I'll give you one guess.
I couldn't really think of a name...so I just took a random look around my room and saw the little sword I bought in Nago, Okinawa.
Got my name from a type of contraceptive, the Rhythmic Method. I decided to spell it wrong in my name just to be post-modern.
But, my real nickname is "Black Magic" ... I play bass so my friends thought that was appropriate.
My name is Spanish, paying homage to the year I used to live there, and it means "devil of the seas" which is a cool name.
Reminds me of that Gary Larson cartoon where the Lone Ranger finally gets his hands on an Apache-English dictionary....Quote:

Mine is the title of (and the lead character in) a book by Michael Moorcock. Well, the character is actually Jerry Cornelius, he just is the English Assassin. Jerry's life involves a lot of drugs, orgies, bass playing, transvestism, wilfully obscure and frequently halucinogenic weaponry and an increasingly fractured narrative in which he may be in 1917 on one page and 1973 the next.
So obviously I felt we had a lot in common.
My name comes from the Dune universe, "Kralizec", in the Fremen language it means more or less 'apocalypse'. I think it's mentioned the first time in book 3, Children of Dune. I thought it sounded cool, and I needed a new name...
My old name, Germaanse Strijder, I picked for the purpose of playing Call of Duty and BF1942. I usually played Axis and it means 'germanic warrior' (not in the national sense)
However due to the nature of the name, I figured people mightl associate me with things I absoletly don't have anything to do with
And we will continue not telling you :laugh4:!Quote:

Ironside was the name of one of my better generals in one MTW campaign.
Semi-ironic take-off from my real forename. Keeps me from getting arrogant. Based on the most common V&V my otherwise decent governors and heirs suffer from...
I Like Wars,so.... That Mostly How I got it.. I put in something like "war" and Man" but that name was taken,so, I took AntiWarmancake (haha) and change it a bit over the years, but still use Warman today..

You know another year has passed when the "How Did You Choose your Name?" thread pops up. It's an old favorite.
When there was only Shogun: TW, many of us chose Japanese nicknames. Mine means "the wind caused by a sword swing". I found it as the name of a WWII Japanese destroyer.
In other instances, I use Bachikaze, which would mean "the wind caused by swinging a drumstick" (not a chicken leg).
im just strange as you must have noticed...so i thought why no torture your brain with this mindbreaking riddle
What's really strange is that I got deja vu reading this post.Quote:

Gamespy picked it for me,Well,Kinda did anyhow..
My brother and I shared the alias "Killermonk" in UT.
I was "Killermonk627", and "^Killermonk^" in tribes 2 before known as R{a}ge.
I would use warrior monks to supplement my armies in stw and learned to respect them more than any other unit. I'm not ashamed to say i liked to monk rush should the terrain allow.
Is it really any surprise I chose "Monk" as my name?
Same story for my name..only different.Quote:

I played S:TW MP as 'Taiko', then 'kukri'.
by chance, you wouldn't happen to be a certain "Mithrandir" from a few years back in Freelancer MP.. would yah? :inquisitive:Quote:

whhhahhahhaha :P VANYA and KRAST if i remember. the legendary duo. sad i was never around
I'm not a Noob. I use Meh,not Gah..MEH!!
My username alludes to my preferred choice of engagement. Sniping is preferrable to any other type of warfare IMO. I like the whole idea of hiding out somewhere stalking a target and finally eliminating the target and getting away undetected, or atleast without being captured or shot.
I'm just coooooooooooooooooooooooolllllllllllleeeeeeehhhhhhhhahahauuuuhhhhhhooohhhhyyyyeeeaaahhhhhhh.
I'm no great general so I picked the worst possible unit to be general => peasants. Phill isn't my real name, I was just looking for a name that also starts with a P.
In real life I have other nicknames, given to me not chosen, and I use them with pride but they aren't really useable on the org as they are inside jokes.
