A Romanian starts a thread about American Independence Day... :dizzy2:
...Makes enough sense to me. Time to launch those illegal fireworks!
They ain't illegal here. It's great to live in a state that allows and encourages the unsafe discharge of explosives. God Bless our Federal system!
You got a problem with that? ~;)Quote:

Pretty much everything except for sparklers and snakes (lame) are illegal here. Luckily for me, two things are in place:
1. Pennsylvania is about 20 minutes from here and it is legal to buy fireworks there.
2. The police really don't care at all.
Does every embassy organize one of those parties? Because if they did, theoretically you could spend most of the year going to all of 'em.Quote:

Just so happens that my post hit 1776 yesterday as well :inquisitive:
Hey, you know this is funny because I'm a romanian in the US and I'm not gonna celebrate anything. This planet is so strange.
If the steady increase continues again this year, as it has every year since 1996, then we can expect more than last year's 10800 people treated this year for fireworks-related injuries. In the USA, an average of 7 people have died each year for the last 5 years as well; so the Darwin Awards will have some new entries after today and tonight.
"Hey, Bubba! You hear ol' Jim Bob blew his acorns off with a firecracker?"
"Sure did, Billy Joe, them scientists call it an 'unsuccessful evolutionary adaptation' or some such!"
"Ayup!"
Slowly but surely, the human species is making itself smarter; but the process takes so dang long!
Oddly, it's the 4th of July over here too ~DQuote:

I forgive you for that little stunt you pulled 230 years ago to get away from the lovely tax benefits of the British Empire :2thumbsup:
Celebrate your countries independence by blowing up a small chunk of it. :2thumbsup:
Happy Birthday to the great republic to the south!

Happy 4th of July to alll of you. Those living in the US and those wh don't. I think I will have to do something American today, can somebody ship me an American drink, or something?
I wish we had a 4th of July party, I like the idea of blowing stuff up. Is it a bad idea to contact my demolitions expert for 4th of July?
Don't blow off anything worth keeping my American friends.
:balloon2:
So apparently I had a stock pile of roman candles, bottle rockets, and mortars in my basement and I didn't even know about it. Oh, I can't wait till it gets dark!:laugh4:Quote:

And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines on the stream:
'Tis the star-spangled banner! O long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion
A home and a country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wiped out their foul footstep's pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved homes and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heaven-rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!-Francis Scott Key
