EB v.80 - Information about the Release Date

We know that many of you are eagerly awaiting the release of the next version of Europa Barbarorum, and the EB Team wanted to update you on our progress. Over the past month, a titanic amount of labor has been expended, and the build is right on the cusp of completion. Although we were hopeful about a November release, the team needed a little more time to integrate a major new feature, plug in additional Unit UI cards, and to playtest the final build a little more thoroughly. We are literally down to a handful of changes and the build will be released VERY soon. Your long wait is almost over!

For my part, I`m compulsively curious (obsessed maybe :surprised: ) with the new baktrian units... how will they look like?

And also with the new nomadic government system...

May I ask a question: Have you got means to count how many times the new version will be downloaded? I`m just curious :grin: , and would loooove to compare that number with the number of sold copies of M2TW... :rolleyes:

personally i start some custom battles with as many new units as possible, start the battle then read their unit descriptions while the games paused :yes:

in the 'allied client state' option, when it reads 'recruitment is limited to what the faction can recruit through local MIC's', does that mean the nomadic conquerors have to use the pre-existing MIC's that belong to the conquered peoples?

just wondering because sometimes in the early game rebels dont have MIC's yet.

BTW the build is frozen, and only two parts are to be finalized... One big, something you always dreamed of, but almost given up hopes for, and the UIs have to be put right to an extent. So don't plan on going for long holydays... postpone parties, cancel your date, divorce your wives.

No, sorry. This is necessary because it's a new system. The other tech trees are all very complex, but known fairly well for all the factions. Plus, they'd be so big and so dependent upon whatever government you chose and what hidden resources are in a province, that I don't think it's possible to draw it all out in something understandable.

I know you said you want to wait to explain things, but I just wanted to try and understand it a little better. Using that new system, is it beneficial to start with one type and once the town is developed enough to then switch to the other type? for example If I used the pastoral option and then built walls and good things like that, could I then switch the gov. to nomadic and still have the walls and all? If you want to talk about this with the release that's fine i would just like to hear some explanation on this kind of thing at some point. Thanks, Awesome job guys and I can't wait!!!

It all looks awesome. I cant wait. Its probably a good thing it wasnt released today, as I have work to prepare for tomorrow, and if .8 had been released I doubt I would do it.

Hopefully 'VERY soon' means hours rather than days, as then I can at least get some guilt-free hours of play in over the weekend...

While you could destroy pretty much everything, and then restart with a migration and then choose a different path (nomadism or pastoralism), this won't happen as much I think. The determinent for what buildings are available are due partially to this building level (nomadism or pastoralism) but also to some other buildings like the first warlord's camps you build. So you'd have to clean things out sorta. Anyway, in pure nomadic provinces, you won't be turning pastoral anyway because of restrictions in Hidden Resources.

I'm gonna start an Arveni campaign, but not before squeashing the game with custom battles...

i will start one Ptolemaioi campaign. but the Very-soon expression is some vague for me. expect it will be released within this week, if not, that is a bit ~;) ~:rolleyes: :eyebrows:

EB 0.8 will include the latin and gaul voice mods, as well as completelly new music done by 2 talented artists, I'm not sure it'll be completed in 0.8 though.

Trust me guys, EB 0.8 is a huuuge improvement over 0.74. Tons of new stuff have been added.

I would like to formally request an add-on for the .81 patch when it's released. In .74 for some reason the barbarian warcry doesn't make any sound really. So as we are on the topic of sound will switching to .8 solve this since it runs off the 1.5 patch? And if not could someone please, please try to mod that aspect, because I really miss hearing the barbarians screaming?

I hate to ask the forbidden question, but what's the status of 0.8? Can we expect a release this weekend?

My gut feeling says it will only come out towards Christmas, but squee! It's coming out, at least, and that's all I'm going to ask for! Though it may be a little hard to pull myself away from Maple Story now that my girlfriend's wanting me to play all the time... >_>

But yes, I will start a Makedonian campaign first of all! After they gave me such trouble as the Romani, it's time to give them back some of their own. But I seriously hope there'll be some regional recruitables in Italia, or I will have serious troubles garrisoning a vacuum like I did when my Arverni invaded Italia surfing on seas of blood.

I would say you should not expect that, but it isn't out of the question.

Our target release date was Nov. 30th, and even if we had not made a choice to add a rather impressive new feature that was completed a day after the desired date, unforseen bugs would have caused a similar delay. However, we have locked the build down and it is just a matter of getting all our ducks in a row.

Given the current state of the posts in the forum I would bet my own mother in law it will be out tonight (I would want to lose that bet), or my own mother it will be some time this week.

I wonder how many fans died while waiting for the release. I'm sure a few have passed away, sad.

well when .72 was released i was working on my TE mod, and i couldn't go back to RTw 1.2 to be honest.

Oh i know its different. My TE mod is vanilla but enhanced, Eb is a complete redoing of it with a much different feel. It'll be interesting to see exactly how different it is.

Because we're not handing out the mod like we would a box of Lego toys. We have to carefully put it all together, test it to make sure it all works together, fix the most glaring errors that would make the game unplayable, put the files together in a meaningful, easy-to-use way for the average person to download and install, and there are many more steps involved.

If you like, I can post all of the individual files and you can spend your time downloading them and trying to get them to work together correctly and integrate the work when two people have worked on the same file and so on.

But you wouldn't want to do that nor should you have to, so we have to spend the time to do it so that it is nice and clean, and easy to install.

think that everyone hope it comes out just right now, today or tomorrow.

but you are right and it is not clever to release single files!

All jokes aside, take your time with it. I've been on holidays for a couple of weeks now and will be for a couple of months. Plenty of time for me now ~D

For anyone else who is waiting impatiently for EB, if you have Europa Universalis II you can try out the newest version of Roma Universalis, a game concentrating more on the strategic side of things than the tactical side. It has far better AI and diplomacy than RTW, but is a little...simple as far as graphics go.

(Note to mods: I am in no way affiliated with Roma Universalis, I just like the mod and thought others might enjoy it while waiting for EB ~;) If it's inappropriate, feel free to remove the last paragraph.)

Or they could work on prepping some historical battles in the Strategy section. :laugh4:

Well I've been watching EB since the beginning of August, waiting for .8, and I hope it comes soon. :sweatdrop:

I just uninstalled MTW2, because i have decided that i am not going to play it until it gets patched. So this would be a welcome alternative. btw, how about you port it to mtw2 right away and release it next week? that would make everybody happy.
