This one may very well not be a bug and you guys might intend to keep it this way, just seemed a bit weird I guess. I was besieging Rhegion from the south, a relief army attacked me and this was the battleground. I understand it's drawn up from the map, but doesn't seem like this would be the place armies would choose to duke it out. Just pointing it out in case things like this need to be changed. It was actually even worse than it looks ~;) .

Rhegion south.

This fellah seems to be confused about how he feels with regards to the siege he's going through. Notice the two traits that seem incompatible. This sort of things have happened with a bunch of other characters as well. Also, is this another Greek merc working in Africa? I loved the character for Carthage and his bio, good stuff :2thumbsup: .

Those drugs he's been taking are screwing with his emotions.

For some reason those weren't set as antitraits to each other. I think I'll leave the possibility to be angry and depressed about the siege though.

Hmmm... angry and depressed sounds fine on the surface, and maybe it could be left for the game, but it doesn't completely make sense. They are kind of opposite emotions, and unless one alternates between the two periodically (which may be what the traits will symbolize), you can't really be both at once. Creative license I suppose.

How about this? The new Ryfelwyr unit (Balroae) has a strange looking animation while throwing spears. It appears the javelin and his primary spear are held in the opposite direction. Pretty distracting during a battle...

Nice job, getting him out there pre-traited and with a bio when he's born and comes of age, cool stuff. A couple of things though, he's named Hamalcar like his father instead of the Hamilcar he should be. It's correct in his bio though.

Also, the Greek Hoplite mercenaries I hired from Sicily don't really use spears as their primary weapon. I know they're not supposed to be in phalanx, but I thought the spear was still the main weapon? They rarely use it, at least in my experience.

These fellahs know what they've done... or rather, not done..... namely, using their spears...

A little unit upkeep cost stat that must have been overlooked, unless there's some reason for it that the description would have explained, but there isn't one as of yet. The Poeni Penterai, 4th best ship Carthy's can build, has a significantly lower upkeep than you think it should, considering the Tetrerai below it has a higher one.

That's the celtic archer issue I've been reporting for some time now. Lots of weird graphics glitches popping up all around them in my battles.

hum.... I don't have that issue with the Celtic Archers (plaing as Aedui). Only that when I zoom out just a bit pieces of the cloak they used to have in .74 can be seen. Once u zoom in they dispear.

This guys a sword soldier, but his english translation lists him as a spear soldier. I hope it's not something tied to other units and can be fixed up.

Now this one isn't really a bug, but I thought I'd post it here instead of cluttering up the forums with another thread. The hermit trait (which I love) gives the character -4 influence. However, in the description it makes it seem like the character is quite influential, what with "his words carrying something near the weight of a prophetic declaration and are looked upon as words of true wisdom". Now I understand how a hermit trait could be cause for a loss of influence, but the description seems to suggest otherwise. I wouldn't think it terribly inappropriate to see a +4 influence boost as a result. Nothing really makes it clear why there should be a loss in this case. He's seen as "mythical figure" which can only be good for one's influence I should think.

The description was just wrong. It was already corrected in our internal 0.81 build.

About the Hermit thing. The only thing that I can be sure of is that the -4 is correct. Maybe we could use a better description though: seems like whomever wrote it wasn't aware of the game effects of the trait.

A few quick things:

1. The Golberi Curoas (northern mercenary spearmen) also claim to use spears in their translation, but actually use swords.

2. The Harauratish asabora (Arachosian light cavalry) are also missing eyes and foreheads, like the pontic skirmishers posted above.

3. The Agema hippeon Hellenikon have a name translation of " Indo-Hellenic armored horse archers," yet they don’t have bows.

4. In the custom battle unit selection screen for Saka Rauka, there are two types of Saka Cataphracts listed. Their stats and unit cards are the exact same, but one costs 4,000 mnia more.

5. During a battle in my Aedui campaign, a unit of Gastiz spent the entire battle fighting with their spears held backwards, thrusting with the butt (like the skirmishers in the screen posted above.)

Dunno if these are bugs but my faction leader picked up a civilised slave after he took Ivernis in Ireland, and a master of archers 2 turns later despite the casse being unable to recruit any at this stage

As there's no way the engine can separate archers from other missile units, you'll sometimes get Master of Archers when you can't recruit one.

The civilized slave ancillary is triggered by staying in a settlement with at least a level 3 market. You can interpret that by imagining the local slave market is sophisticated enough that is able to provide with people captured from 'civilized lands'. The fact that you got her just after conquering the city was a coincidence, the slave isn't local to Ivernis.

Mmm mmm, that civilized slave sure is a looker. Wouldn't mind having me one of those... although my girlfriend probably would. Psh.

Well he has been making prolific use of the slingers so I suppose its fitting. Excellent work btw, the traits really give your generals character depth, makes the game much more enjoyable.

Casse Sotoroas also have at least two graphical glitches: when you zoom in on their faces, strange black spots appear, and when you zoom out to middle distance, a weird texture appears on their back.

There is also something wrong with the Casse non-bodyguard chariot sprites: the drivers appear to be floating above their vehicles in middle distance.

The sprite model of the following unit is missing a rider on it's horse. This might be a place-holder, as long as the EB-team knows it!

In my Romani campaign, I decided to seige Pella, so I hired some mercs in order to not deplete my Legion. Anyways, I hired some "Misthophoroi Thureophoroi" and I noticed a couple errors with them.

First off, they seems to be giving themselves brain surgery when standings still:

I just noted similar issues with Sweboz and Eleutheroi Bugimannoz. The texture that appears on the back of the Eleutheroi seems to be half-finished cloak.

Carthaginian bodyguards have graphical problems when zoomed out a little(their cloak turns into something:)).Also when zoomed in their cloak looks like it is floating above the horse.

Sounds like you are still getting vanilla. Do you have an EB shortcut (its a sort of gold disc with EB in gothic letters on it)? If you start the game with that you should get to EB, if you use the old RTW shortcut you just get the original game.

anti-aliasing is a graphik feature hich is very hardwareintese, and i can't explain it in english (ever heard of treppchen effekt?), please google or wiki it.

Totally late and slightly off topic, but there've been found remains of Phonecian ships with cannabis on board. Totaly possible the Celts used it.

As for Anti-aliasing... you know how some straight lines (like spear shafts) can look kinda jagged? Anti-aliasing smooths that out.

That's odd. I've never seen that before, usually construction sites are called "construction site". And there was nothing damaged (besides the gov) when I took the town.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the historical ancilliaries don't really have bonuses such as +1 management? At least, all my generals got - both in 0.7.4 and 0.8 didn't... IMO, they're more a sort of feature, one which makes EB more realistic... So this may not be a bug after all.

Since the hypaspistai seem to be removed from EB 0.8, and the Spartans look kinda like Seleukid 0.7.4 hypaspistai: what are those 120 peasant icon guys? Some sort of hoplites? That might explain the CTD, for (see the Spartans) apparently EB uses the former hypaspistai units to cover the hoplites... (Which makes me wonder, why have the hypaspistai been removed in the first place? After all: the unit description of Thorakitai Agyraspidai still reads "the fittest among the hypaspistai"...)

I could say the 120 peasant icon are the mercenary massilian hoplites :yes: that I've recruited just before preparing to siege the city, like curoas and curepos, but I thought that the massilian hoplite icon wasn't in 0.8, like the mercenary lucanian infantry for example...~:confused:
But if EB uses the hypaspistai units texture to cover massilian hoplites on battle screen... Every battle concerning a unit of massilian hoplites in the game will crash???

On the subject of historical ancilliaries: Is it possible to make sure that the text boxes dont disappear off screen. I had one with quite a bit of text, though by no means a whole screens height. His description however insisted on disappearing off the top of the screen, and no amount of scrolling the general's traits up and down would shift it so that it all appeared. Very frustrating as I love reading these little titbits. It is one of the many, many things that makes EB so special.

The Illyrian levy spearmen (Epiros-skin, at least) have a strange black clamp around their neck.

When I took Rhodos, the KH type II governement wasn't damaged. Incidentally, is there a trait for tearing down the Collosus as Makedon? It would seem logical, as it is a symbol for Greek defiance, but I haven't heard of it yet.

Lastly, the quote of Archimedes saying "Give me a place to stand and I will move the world" also includes a row of question marks.

Okay, here's something strange, the crest on the horses of Hellenic Cataphracts and companion calvary dont seem to work properly at higher settings. I've installed EB on two different computers with two different graphics cards with the same results...

Not sure if this is a EB or RTW bug. No big deal as I have a force large enough to squash them. But man, I'm glad that wasn't a full stack of KH Klingons using that old invisible cloaking trick on me. :sweatdrop:

Yet more bugs:

Playing as Makedon, half of my most important general have either the Mishellen or "Philhellene" trait.

Just south of the bridge north of Kallatis is a bit of unpassable ground on the campaign map.

The mines in Sedike (which are either present at the start of built by the Eleutheroi) had as description: "Should not be visible - please report this error".

The highest level of the temple of Hera gives +2 morale and +25% to public order, making it a better choice than the highest level of the temple of Ares (+2/+20%).

Also, why can't I recruit anything but psiloi and hoplites haploi in Sparte? I've got a type II governement and am constructing a level III faction MIC, but teching up sparta for it's soldiers seems rather pointless now. Or should I have built a type IV governement and the regional MIC?
