I had this problem too. What you do is click the browse button, and find the Rome.exe file in the Rome Total War folder, which is in Activision or The Creative Assembly folder in Program Files folder. After that it will locate it itself when you start it up.
I had to repair EB last nite. I have both Rome or Activation. But what file did you use? Because it keeps asking for file name.
All you do is look for where rome is installed, fine your eb folder, and click on the rtw.exe.
C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\EB\RomeTW.exe
I had the same problem, but when i start RomeTW.exe it's the normal version not the modded version of the game
All I can find is the EB setup. Now when I click on Icon. Wordpad opens. This gets worst.
I'm going to uninstall again. Then download EB 08 again. This is one Major pain in thr butt!!!!
Did you set the EB extractor destination to your "...\Rome - Total War\" folder? The default isn't always the correct location depending on when you got your version of RTW.
Common default locations:
C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\
C:\Program Files\SEGA\Rome - Total War\
C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\
Find where you have the RomeTW.exe, point the EB extractor at that and you shouldn't have to do anything more, just click on the EB desktop shortcut.
When I click on properties it says start in Program files\Activation\Rome Total War. But when I click on Icon. It still can not find Rome.exe.
Try copying your normal RTW desktop shortcut and at the very end after the quotes add "-mod:eb -nm -show_err" so the target looks like this:
(may not be "The Creative Assembly")Code:"C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\RomeTW.exe" -mod:eb -nm -show_err
If that doesn't work, it isn't the shortcut that is screwed up, try reinstalling EB and make sure it is definately in the right folder.
I'll try that. I uninstalled again. I put it in the Activision file. I get same thing. Windows can not find RomeTW.exe.
If it doesn't work, extract EB to the location in the RTW desktop icon target. The exact thing in the quotes, minus the "RomeTW.exe".
I put it in Target. I click apply. And it says file not valid. I'll try start.
Well I got target to work. I click on EB Icon. Windows still searching for RomeTW.exe. What a pain. It was easier to OC my CPU. Then it is to get this Mod to work.
To me, it still sounds like you extracted EB to the wrong place.
Go to your "Rome - Total War" folder using "My Computer" and make sure you have both the EB folder and the RomeTW.exe program in the same place.
It should look something like this:
https://img293.imageshack.us/img293/...lder7sx.th.jpg
that worked for me: be sure you install EB in the same folder your RTW was installed originaly.
EB looks great!!! (once you get it running)
I uninstalled EB last nite. I just reinstalled EB to the Activision folder. That's where RomeTW is. I click on Icon. Windows is still searching for RomeTW.exe. Any other ideas? I may have to uninstall RomeTW Gold. Then restall again.
The "Activision" folder, or the the "Activision\Rome - Total War" folder? Because it has to be the the "Activision\Rome - Total War" folder. The target line in the EB installer has to end with "...\Rome - Total War". If you put it in the "Activision\Rome - Total War" folder and you opened it and it looks similar to the picture I posted (contains both the EB folder and the RomeTW.exe), then there is some other problem.Quote:

Do the required patches and then when you install EB direct it to the custom folder. you know its going to the right place because its simple and straight forward. Every version of Rome ( Gold, Barb, Eras) has slightly different folder names and most of them don't match the default EB folder. It's easy to mess it up. I did a couple of times. Hope this helps!
If you uninstall all of RTW, when reinstalling you could just write down the path it installs to. That is the exact same folder EB goes to.Quote:

That's true but if you have multiple folders it can be a bit confusing. A simple path like ROME is easier to deal with. He's got to be copying the wong path...
Well I uninstalled everything. Reinstalled RTW and BI. Can BI cause the problem I'm having?
Did you check out the EB compatibily thread?
"C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\RomeTW.exe"
to
"C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\RomeTW-BI.exe"
When I reinstalled RTW Gold. The download created The Creative Assembly Rome Total War.exe. That's where I put EB. If that not right I'll uninstall everything again. And put RTW Gold in Activision Rome as you have. The Download put it in the file I have it in now.
If it is "The Creative Assembly" then you need to most like put:
C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\
into your EB installer target.
Do I need EB after Total War?
No, that would screw up the whole installation: the installer is 'programmed' to use the default, (Vanilla, where you find the '.exe'), RTW directory, and then create it's subfolders on it's own.
You should be able to type exactly what is on the second line of my last post and it will work.
I make a shortcut from thr EB Icon. I changed the EB target to what you have here. A new window opens and says Target not vaild I get this when I click on apply or ok.Quote:

So you install RTW Gold which installs it to what folder?
Does RTW run after you first install?
Then after you have installed RTW gold and you know it works, you download EB.
You double click that icon which then prompts you to install EB 0.80 to which folder?
AFter you have installed EB; you should have EB viewable in you start menu in the program area; and be able to run the program from your start menu.
What you are explaining sounds like there was an error in installing your original RTW becuase your computer cannot seem to find the RTW.exe file. Unless you are asking your computer to look where the file is not.
When I reinstalled RTW then BI. The file is The Creative Assembly Rome Total War. So I installed EB to that location.
Not the shortcut, the EB installer...Quote:

When you first install EB. The file you downloaded is called the "installer". Sorry I wasn't clearer on that, my bad...
OK so where do I find it now?
EB08-setup.exe is what the file is called and it is 345 megabytes ( I Think). If you dowloaded on to your computer it may have saved it to the desktop; if not then do a search for EB08-setup.exe on your computer and that should find it.
I saved EB to my Documents. Then to My game folder.
Did you run the installer?
So what you are saying. I make a shortcut from rhe EB installer. And change the Target line there?Quote:

1- You need a fresh 1.5/1.6 RTW... ok, sounds like you got that.
2- Download EB... sounds like you did that.
3- Extract EB... In that, you got to the program you just downloaded and double click it.
It will run an exe that will extract EB. It will ask you where to put it, this is where you put:Quote:

Run this program again and direct it to:
C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\
The EB desktop icon should appear/work then.
I put EB in the C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome-Total War. I think mine had .exe at the end. So I should uninstall EB and reinstall it again?Quote:

.....Please tell me this is a joke...:dizzy2:
Yes, it still uses the same software as RTW vanilla and requires the disc.
Ok I put in the disk. I click play RTW. I click on single player. I click on Imperial. I see no difference than RTW. Am I missing something?
You can't play it from the flash screen that autoruns when you put the cd in. You can only run it from the shortcut that is created with the install (you can make your own though).Quote:
