so what do you expect here exactly?

this has happened before...and will happen again...and again...and again...until something is done about the underlying causes.

even after the overwelming shock over columbine nothing was done....so I expect that nothing will come out of this one as well....

is what happened today good news? no of course not....but it has no effect in my life or in the lifes of anyone I know so why should I be greatly shocked? it is not like it is an unexpected or unforseen event....and frankly if something happens dozens of times and the US government doesn´t do anything about it...let´s just say my empathy starts to wear a little thin.

It's somewhat sad that your empathy for the victims and their relatives/friends is linked to the actions (or lack of the same) of the administrations... (at least that is how I would interpret your post - I hope that you actually do not mean it that way and that this is just your way of expressing your disagreement with the consequences taken by the responsible administrations)

I thought this was strange, too... the two sets of shootings occurred 2 hours from each other...and, although this isn't very clear from what I've read, it seems there was one shooter, no ? What puzzles me is, how can someone shoot people in a campus, presumably some survivors are left to identify the shooter, police are called (I'm guessing, right ?!), and yet, two hours later, the shooter kills again...
I would understand them having difficulty in finding him, but less so if he was already identified after the first shooting...

I dunno, it's all very strange... And yeah, not cancelling classes when a guy's on a shooting spree in your campus seems a bit....unusual.

My thoughts are with the family and friends of the dead and injured.

I think we should give Ronin a break. People are dying all the time and my thoughts or even sympathies aren't with them either. Why isolate this shooting and suggest that is somehow particularly bad?

I wonder though, Ronin, what you think those 'causes' are and what could be done about them.

We admonish this act of insanity, yet few at home take the time of day to recognize that many more innocents (both Iraqi and Others) die everyday in much the same way.
