Riders of the holy mountain: A Haystan AAR second try

A wile a go I was writing a Hayasdan Aar but I moved and then Installed Vista on my PC and lost my save game so I'll start a new AAR cause it's fun to write a AAR I'll post my house rules tonight

Two years ago he was the avagh sepuh the heir to the trone but the king decidet that his eldest son that became 16 at that time would become the next king. For that reason Artavazd hates Aram but he also loves his brother who made the kingdom a powerful kingdom

Chapter I

It’s now the autumn of 259. The forces of the mighty Arkah enter the of Edessa but the minor forces that wonder around the city are getting attack and defeated without much difficulty.

A few months have passed since the last battle and now Samus is confined to his bed he’s very sick the medics where not certain if he would survive. And the priests taught it was a punishment send to him by the gods. But when the king was sick he had many dreams, he also taught that his father who already was dead for 11 years was talking to him but on the last day of the winter the king had a very strange dream. His dream was about the day that he told the council about his son becoming the new avagh sepuh.

Dream of the Arkah
Samus telling: I stood there before the council and my brother to my left side and my son, Aram , to my right . And all the nobility stood in front of me they didn’t knew why I called them here . Nor do my brother or son know why. And I start my speech “ Welcome my brothers mighty ,nakharars and aspet ner , I know you’re dying to know why. Bu I ask you for a little more patience . First I want to tell you that the Selcuecids have been defeated and have left our lands and it is time now to go and attack the city of Karkathiokerta. Let’s bring the war to their doorstep and see how they can handle the mighty horse archers .” Everybody started to scream of joy that they would get their revenge. Many of them have lost a son or someone else they have loved because of the war . I started to speak again and now it was quiet at the field . We didn’t use a building but we came together at the valley of Ararat so that the gods could see us and know that our decisions where just. “The second part of my announcement, you all know that my brother is the avagh sepuh but I want to change that , my eldest son is now mature like you all know, so I want you to meet your next king and lord Aram.” At that moment many stood up in anger and said that “How he can become our next king if he hasn’t proven him in battle yet what has he done that your brother hasn’t done?” Aram who has a very bad tamper stood and said I’ll go to the province of Aghvan and conquer it for my father and the kingdom and prove that I’m worthy to be your king.” At that moment I looked to my left and saw that my brother was gone and in the distant I could see a horse riding towards Armavir that was also the last time I spoke to my brother. There were only two reasons why he didn’t start a civil war at first he loved me too much to start a war but he now hates Aram and the second one was that no army would follow him in war he may have the loyalty of many nobles but the soldiers follow their Arkah to war.

After that moment the king was well and his disease was gone nobody knew how it came. After the dream spring , garun begun and the birds started to sing and the army marched towards Edessa. A month later they arrived there and laid siege to the city. Samus was expecting reinforcement from Antioch but it never came in the begin of the summer the mighty army attacked the city and took the city with one or two deaths.

The slaughter that followed I’ll not describe but there was no Seleucid warrior alive after the battle even those who surrendered where killed.

Chapter 2

Rule of Samus year 12

After the conquering of Edessa, Samus send out his best scouts to see what was going on in the province and if there were any large enemy armies. A week later a scouting party returned and but the half of their men were dead. Samus was spending some time with his wife on the moment that the two members of the scouting party returned . His most trusted advisor and oldest friend Yerevand rushed the room.
Yerevand “Forgive me, my lord. But I have news that you need to hear”
Samus “What is this news that cannot wait till I’m done spending some time with my wife “
Yerevand “Forgive me, my lord it was not my intension to make you angry…”
Samus “Speak up old friend. I don’t have all day.”
Yerevand “Of course my lord. One of your scouting parties is back and they have terrible news with them. A week o the north from here there is a large Seleucid Army they are hiding in the mountains and preparing to attack the city when Ashun begins. “
Samus “May Hayk have mercy with us all. Collect the horse archers, the archers the cavalry and the slingers leave the infantry inside the city to protect it. We leave at down .

A few weeks later the forces of Samus reached the Seleucids army. The captains of the different divisions were preparing to attack the next day . But before Samus went to bed we was watching the enemy camp fires in the distant field and was sensing that the enemy was not ready for a fight at this time he returned to his camp and called all his man together .
Samus “Men you know why we are here in the mountains? We are here to protect the lands that we have conquered from the enemy. But that’s not all we are here because we want to protect our home lands and our families living there . how many of you have loving wives that are waiting till you return home or have children waiting there. But there are also soldiers here who have lost everything they have even their loved ones. If we attack tomorrow they can escape but if we attack tonight we will have total victory”
Inspired by this speech his soldiers started to march towards the enemy camp.

The battle that followed not many hay soldiers died but almost no men was left alive of the enemy soldiers.

On the critical moment of the battlefield the most elite force of the empire came . But even their appearance could not stop the killing of the soldiers and the battle was won by the Hay army .

On the same time like the time that the battle was going on Aram was getting closer to the city of Phraaspa and was marching all day net to his soldiers like a real general needs to do.

Fall 258

Samus returned with his forces to Edessa where the people of the city were rioting an fighting to the soldiers inside the city left there for garrison duty. But when Samus entered the city the people could not fight against all his soldiers so they stop fighting and where waiting till Samus would leave the city to go and fight the enemy but on that time Aram reached the city of Phraaspa .

And surrounded immediately the city .

The fall or ashun past and the winter came and it was in the end of the ashun when the Seleucids troops moved towards Karkathiokerta . In the begin of the winter the news that the settlement was besieged by the Selseudics was had reached Edessa .

Samus “ When our forces take Antioch my son Aram will lead the second Army to Asia minor to conquer the Seleucid settlements there and in the mean time we will move with our armies to the heartlands of the empire and take Seleukia…”

Ashot “Arkah forgive me for disturbing you but I have bad news from Karkathiokerta”
Samus “What bad news do you have has something happened to my son or to my grandchildren? Speak up messanger!”
Ashot “No my lord there is nothing wrong with your family, but there is a Seleucid army besieging the city…”
Samus “What are they doing!” he screamed out . he turned to his generals and said “Collect my army leave the infantry behind to protect the city , the rest of them will march to Karkathiokerta.”
Yerevand “Who will lead the troops, Arkah?”
Samus “I’ll lead the forces into war “
So said and so done Samus and his Army started to move towards Karkathiokerta .

On the mean time Aram was preparing to attack the city of Phraaspa .

At the end victory was ours but to many of our soldier have died in the battle. We have lost to many good man .

Chapter 3

When cities are conquered and when princes die
Rule of Samus year 14
When Samus was marching with his men to save his son from the Seleucid armies a few messengers from different cities arrived to meet him with bad news.

One of the messengers was from Phraaspa and the city was revolting the king was felling bad but then two days later a other messenger arrived from Edessa with another message for the mighty Arkah

The city of Edessa was revolting against the Hay rule and when he was reading that message his horse fell did beneath his legs. Samus fell down and broke his arm. For that he must return to Edessa to recover. With the arrival of the king in the city the inhabitants started to calm down and accept the hay rule over the city. When Samus was returning to Edessa with Yervand, one of his most trusted soldiers was given the command over his army. His name was Narek, and he was a freed slave from Seleucid dogs and was now one of the most trusted men in the king’s army.
But in the mean time the council of nobles was come together and in this meeting Aram was present and the hatred between him and his uncle was could be felt. Artavadz started to look around to see who was on his side, and he was pleased with what he was seeing many old faces and not much young faces were today present here. He started to speak “Aspetner, brothers of the sword, welcome to this war council were we decide what must be done with the matter of war. On this place all of us are equal. Today my nephew has joined our ranks to speak on his new idea what must be done with the war against the Seleucids. Talk young men don’t let us old ones wait.”
Aram started to speak “Aspetner like my uncle has said I have an idea to stop this war with the Seleucids, we need to stop the fighting it was going on for long enough. In the past they have invaded our lands and killed our people now we have defeated them in our lands we have invaded their lands and are killing their loved ones. When is this going to stop I ask you? I have a plan to stop this all in matter of months let me go and talk to the emperor maybe than we can come to a agreement that is beneficial for both our countries.” When he was done speaking everybody stood up and started to walk to their horses. An old man told Aram “you have lost all the support of your people now. I hope you can win it back in the future. If anything would happen to your father you’ll be king and the council will never agree with you. You hear me you foolish boy? Do you hear me?” and on that time he started to walk away to his men and horses leaving Aram alone. Next day Aram left Armavir to join his troops and await orders from his father.

Mean while Narek reached the besieged city of Karkathiokerta and saw that the Seleucid force was not so big as he had taught at the beginning .

Narek saw that his soldiers didn’t want to fight without their king so he needed to do something to give his man their fighting spirit back and archive victory for his king and country.
Narek started to speak to his Soldiers “Men!!! We see a enemy there that is ready to fight cavalry army but they don’t know that they are fighting against the mighty Samusian army who have had victory against stronger forces. I’m not asking you to fight for me, but I asking you to fight for your king and country. Samus is waiting in Edessa for our messenger so he can know that his son is safe and his man have saved his family. You all know that we need to win today or ells this is going to be the end of our rule over Karkathiokerta. Now I ask you go and win for our Arkah !!!”
After that speech the soldiers rode out and started to use their mighty arrows to kill the enemy.

The battle was a clear victory and the city was safe again.

After that the battle is done the soldiers started to march towards Edessa and their king. Fall came and the soldiers arrived in the city and were welcomed by a healed Samus. In those months Samus was preparing his men to attack Antioch. Winter came and with winter snow came and it was impossible for Samus to march at his age in that cold weather. But he send a message to his son to take some troops and to march towards Armavir take some reinforcements and wait for further orders

Spring came and the trees started to blossom and a messenger from our allies arrived that their forces were besieging the mighty city of Antioch and after that it fell to their hands we must take our troops and march to Seleucia and break their power for ever.

After that message the humor of the king could not be better. But after that many things went wrong.

The Seleucids were again besieging the city and this time Samuus was moving with his army for a surprise attack on Antioch. So he could not receive the message.

Chapter 4

When a king mourns the dead and a prince becomes a man
Rule of Samus year 15

When the message came that the city of Karkathiokerta was under siege by the forces of the Seleucid Empire the king was no were to be found he was on his way to Antioch to lay siege to the city. A week of two ago a Ptolemaic messenger came to Edessa with some troubling news from the Self proclaimed heir of Alexander. The message was about the Ptolemaic soldiers besieging Antioch. They were now defeated by Seleucid forces. And Samus saw a chance to conquer a new city and divide the mighty empire in two parts. So he and his cavalry with some long ranged units started in secret to march towards Antioch. The city of Karkathiokerta saw a new Seleucid army arrive and cut it from the outside world. Now that the king had disappeared with his army all eyes were on the Avagh Sepuh Aram, many of the naxharars taught that he would try to talk with the enemy. They were right he send a messenger to the emperor to talk about peace and retreaving of forces out of each other’s lands. The answer that he got back was not what he had expected, the head of the messenger and there was also a letter in his mouth. The message was like this: “Why would I do something like that when I’m winning this war” Now that Aram knew that talk would not save his he made his army ready to go and save his brother.

Meanwhile Samus with his army arrived at the city of Antioch and laid siege to the city. The city was unexpected and the garrison was at a minimal but there was a strong army a few weeks from the city. Samus didn’t know anything about his kingdom or about his family. If he had know that his son was being besieged we would have returned to save him.

A few weeks later it was almost winter, a small Seleucid army attack the king’s forces but they did not know that it would mean the end for Seleucid rule over Antioch.

Samus knew that victory was sure but the army inside the city was all elite soldiers and only by coming to the battle field they would demoralise his men. He knew that winning this battle would change the war for good in his favour. His men were tired and missed their family normally they would receive some words about them when the supply wagon arrives but this time nobody knew where they were. Before the battle Samus gave a speech to his men. “Men today we stand at the gates of Antioch and are preparing to fight the most elite force the Seleucids can send against us. Many of you wonders why we are here I’ll tell you why we are here, we are here to conquer and plunder this rich city so the emperor never will forget who he’s fighting against” and with those words the battle started and the horse archers rode out to kill the enemy.

A clear victory for our forces

When the garrison was defeated the mercenaries who were fighting next to Samus moved as first inside the city and killed and raped the civilians of the city when the soldiers of Hayastan moved inside the city the harm was already done. So the soldiers could do only one thing and that was collecting the riches of the city and share between each other. Samus was ashamed what he saw when he entered the city but he could not do anything.

The winter came and not much happened on the beginning of the winter. Aram was still collecting soldiers to go and help his brother. And the first messengers arrived at Antioch with bad news about the siege and Samus knew that he could never reach his son on time. Winter past but at the second month the forces attack the city and they had received reinforcement form other Seleucid forces that were near. Arsham knew that he needed to defend the city to the last man. If his archers could burn down those rams he could win some time till his brother could arrive. A few days ago he had send his family away from the city to safety and knew that if his plan went wrong he would find his dead this day. He stood up and went outside to show his men that the battle was not lost and there still was a chance and they didn’t need to lose the courage. When he was a little boy he saw his father talk with his soldiers to give them courage. When he saw their faces he knew that he needed to say something to keep the moral high. But the death fear that he saw on the faces of his soldiers was a little too much for him. So he went to his soldiers and for the first time he talk like their general and not their master. His speech went something like this: “Men we have arrived at a part of our lives when we can decide what we need to do to live at our knees like slaves or we can fight and die like real men and when men drink on courage our name will be mentioned between all those great heroes , if you ran away today you maybe can reach a Hay settlement and you can have a normal life but when your old and have lost all your teeth and have pain in all your bones crack when you move and you’ll ask yourself what if I had stayed there that day and have fought with my brothers and maybe won that day so today stay with me and defend the city so you’ll never ask yourself what if.” When he had finished his speech he stayed with his soldiers till the Seleucid army started to move towards the wall.

When Samus received the message that the city was lost and his youngest son was dead that was the first time that his men saw him cry.

Damn that sucks couldnt get the relief army there fast enough. Nothing like having to fight naked barbarians in the freezing cold. I hope you get the city back again. I will be watching for more. Good screenshots and I like the narrative.

I'm sorry to tell you that this AAR can not go furter because of CDS I'll post next week the final 2 chapters

Chapter 5
When hope leaves our hearths and a father seeks revenge
Rule of Samus year 16

After the fall of Karkathiokerta spring came and the message that the city had fallen back into the hands of the enemy spread all over the Hay kingdom and men were again united to conquer back the lands and revenge their prince who had fought and died with his men. But there was one part where the news came not through rumours but inside a basket. The messenger arrived on a sunny day at the royal palace in Antioch and asked for an audience with the Hay Arkah. When he entered the throne room and saw the old but still mighty king sat there with his wife next to him. He started to smile. He bowed to the king and started to talk “Mighty King of Kings, I have here a presented from your rival emperor of Seleukiea.” He gives the basket to one of the hay soldiers and the soldier brought the gift to the king. Samus opened the basked and started to scream. Chapter 5

When hope leaves our hearths and a father seeks revenge

After the fall of Karkathiokerta spring came and the message that the city had fallen back into the hands of the enemy spread all over the Hay kingdom and men were again united to conquer back the lands and revenge their prince who had fought and died with his men. But there was one part where the news came not through rumours but inside a basket. The messenger arrived on a sunny day at the royal palace in Antioch and asked for an audience with the Hay Arkah. When he entered the throne room and saw the old but still mighty king sat there with his wife next to him. He started to smile. He bowed to the king and started to talk “Mighty King of Kings, I have here a presented from your rival emperor of Seleukiea.” He gives the basket to one of the hay soldiers and the soldier brought the gift to the king. Samus opened the basked and started to scream. Samus knew that this battle would not be hard but he also knew that he needed to crush the enemy on the field to restore the moral between his ranks and to take revenge for what they have done against his youngest child, his wife didn’t leave his room for days crying and not letting even her husband enter her chambers. The only person she left in was the women who had nursed Arsham when he was a baby. So the king knew that every man that would die today would join to serve his son in his afterlife where the god Hayk was guarding his soul and waiting till his new servants would join him to make his afterlife as easy as possible. Samus sitting on his horse looked to his men and started to speak to them “Men today we ride out to search revenge for what they have done against our people, our brothers in arms and against my son your prince. I ask you to kill so many Seleucids as possible so they can join my son to serve him in his afterlife. After were done here we’ll move to Karkathiokerta to take it back and show the Seleucid emperor that we’ll kill all his men if that is the price for our freedom we’ll do it and never think ones that we’ve done something wrong. So today go and fight and archive a great victory. Ride out and kill them!”

The enemy general’s dead and his head is chopped of and prepared to be sending it to the Seleucid emperor as a present.

Afterwards it was a great victory and almost all of the enemy soldiers were dead and serving his son now. But the time past and in the city of Ani-Kamah a messenger of the Hellenic people had arrived and negotiation had begun and after two days we had a new allay and trade partner.

Aram knew that today the victory would make the difference between life and dead so he went on and prayed to the gods that they would protect him and his men and give him the chance to take revenge for the dead of his beloved brother, after that he was done we went to his horse and rode to his men and started to speak against them. “Men I know that many o you have never seen a battle, I also know that many of you have families waiting for you at home so fight well and conquer the city and you can return to your families. But today I ask you to fight for me with all the courage that you can find in your heart. Let’s go and fight.”

Aram saw with fear in his hearth the enemy army move closer and closer and he knew that his swordsmen had no chance to fight against those mighty phalanxes and when his scouts also told him that there were elite phalanxes, the silver shields or better known as the silver dead. His father would have find a way to win this battle but the only thing he could think about is how he could leave the battle without falling into shame. When he left his tent to go to his soldiers they saw the fear in the eyes of their general and they knew that not many of them would leave this battle alive. Aram started to speak to his soldiers: “Men today we see an army that is stronger than ours and can destroy our ranks but if we keep our ranks closed we can defeat them and victory can be ours listen to your hearth and fight without fear.” After he said that he climbed on his horse and started to ride towards the enemy and his scared soldiers followed him.

Chapter 6

Returning to the east

It is garun now of the year 230 and Sanasar and his weak forces were near the city of Gabai, when one of his scouts returned with a message that a Seleucid army was near them, a week of two away from their location and had some archers in their ranks. Sanasar knew that his army could handle them with little trouble but the casualties could be so high he needed to retreat to Susa and his plan could fail. He was lucky that his scouts were so good and he knew were the enemy was every step of the way. 15 years ago when his grandfather still was a general they had not even one scout. But the young Sanasar took over the command he changed many things in the army. A few days later he called his captains inside his tent to discuss the battle plan. After the captains left the tent Armen stayed behind to discuse what will happen after that they would win the battle. Sanasar “My friend come and sit here and have a drink. We need to discuss what we need to do after this battle we could march our army back to Susa or we could march towards Persepolis and conquer the city.” Armen started to laugh “I knew that you would suggest some kind of a crazy plan that is almost impossible” “My friend I ask you why is it impossible, merchants that our soldiers have captured tell us that the city is almost not protected, this is now time to strike and conquer the city. If we retreat than they will send reinforcement to the city. And then it will be impossible to conquer. After this battle they think we would move our forces to besiege Gabai but our forces will move to Persepolis. And then their empire will crumble and their military force in the east will disappear forever.” Armen “If you tell it like that that’s the only thing we can do to end the war.” And after that he left his friend alone and went to his one tent. After two days the Selceudic forces reached the point where the hay army was waiting for them and prepared for a battle. Sanasar was sitting on his black horse and said to his soldiers “Men it has been many months that we have seen our families and it will also take a few other months before we see them back but don’t worry when you return home you’ll be so rich that you don’t need to work for the rest of your life. When the victory is ours we’ll march towards the Seleucids eastern provinces and conquer those too.” After that the soldiers started cheering for their great and powerful general.

And after the battle was done Sanasar knew that amar(summer) would come very soon and he needed to march for many months before he could reach Persepolis. So he doesn’t want to lose too much time.

Time past by and in the middle of the dzmer(winter) Sanasar reached Persepolis and laid siege to it but a few months ago he had received a message from the city of Arbeia that a plague has broken out there. And many people had died there.

After a few months of laying siege to the city the Seleucid emperor decided that it was time to attack and destroy the force that was besieging the city. They arrived in the middle of amar year 229, not one but two armies were planning to attack our forces. Those two armies plus the army inside the city walls formed more men than our army but Sanasar didn’t worry about it he knew that each of his men counted for two Seleucid soldiers. He called his captains together for a last time before the battle would begin to give them their final orders. And every man knew that victory would be theirs if they followed the commands of their general. When the morning came Sanasar walked outside his tent and went to feed his horse. After a few hours the whole camp was ready to move and fight. Sanasar looked at his soldiers and said “When the sun goes down we’ll walk inside the city of Persepolis and we’ll diner all together in my new palace.” All of his man started to laugh and were ready for war.

Chapter 7
When friends become enemies and dessert men betray mountain men

It’s now fall of the year 229, a month has passed since Hai forces have entered the city, and the first few weeks were hectic. Inside the city many rich Greeks lived but the original Persian citizens together with the Hai forces massacred them and took all their gold and other riches. But now everything has returned to normal there are new riches and the Greeks that survived have now become the scum on the streets who are spit upon. But this day the new nobility of the city was giving a party to honor their new masters and they had invited the general Sanasar and his captains. His captains all men of noble birth were amusing themselves, but the general was bored and didn’t know why not all of his men weren’t here. He called Armen to explain why those Persians hadn’t invaded his men to this feast. “Armen tell me why aren’t my men here today to celebrate our victor.” Armen didn’t know what to say against his prince “My prince…I don’t know why…our men aren’t invaded today…I’ll go and ask our host why they aren’t…” “No tell me where my men are that’s all I need to know,” said Sanasar “I have fought with my men to conquer this city and to revenge my uncles, so today I’ll go and feast with my men. Not with those snakes that are here to see who they can become richer.” “If my lord needs to know where our men are I’ll tell him they are in the palace feasting on their own.” “Then I’ll join them and feast with the men who deserve to feast.” And after those words Sanasar left the room and went to his palace. Time went on and after a few months the first snow came and with the first snow a women arrived at the palace with her guard. She asked audience with the great prince of the east. Every men and women had the right to ask an audience with the prince. After a few hours she came in the ancient throne room of ancient Persepolis. She entered the room and saw all the ancient riches that were displayed that everybody could see how rich Hayastan really is. She walked to the throne and threw herself at the floor and started to speak “Great prince of the east ruler of the ancient city that once belonged to the king of kings, heir to the throne of the Haykakan Empire, grandson of the great Samus who let the Hellenics cry like little children. My name is Yenisei; I’m the last member of my family.” The prince started now to speak “Who are you, you come here and bow form me but you haven’t told me who your family is if my soldiers have killed your family I’m sorry but it’s now war.” Yenisei started to laugh and looked to the great prince and said “You’re noble men have never harmed one of mine; I’m the granddaughter of the lord who ruled over the tribe of the Saka. But now all of my family is dead and the only thing that is keeping me going is the chance that I’ll have my revenge one day.” Sanasar saw the grief in her eyes and said to her “Come and sit next to me and tell me what happened how it is possible that your family is all dead. Your grandfather ruled over a great part of the steps and last thing we heard from them is that they were at war with Bactria but it’s not possible that they could lose. But if you say so I believe you. I’ll send you to Armavir and there you’ll learn and one day you’ll marry one of my generals and then we can go back and reclaim your lands.” After he was done speaking he sends her to go and sleep and be ready to move to Armavir.

Time was passing by while Sanasar was building a government in Persepolis. When treachery happened, the Ptolemaic Empire blockaded our port at Persepolis. Sanasar was outrages; the only thing at his mind was revenge. Everything has its price, even betrayal. But the Arkah Samus didn’t feel like to start a full scale war. Ambassadors were send to Memphis to talk with the great and mighty Pharaoh to sigh peace between our people. It was the time that the council of high nobles would come together and talk about war affaires in the country. And when they heard that Samus was talking about peace with those dogs of Hellenic retards the only thing they could do is call back all armies and retrain the troops and wait till the old fool would die. Before Samus would die he would make one more mistake. When a Bactrian diplomat came with an alliance Samus immediately singed it. That was his last mistake before he would die.

Now that Samus was gone Sanasar had his hands free to fight against the Ptolemaios and expand his empire to the end of the dessert. It was a few months after he became king; the Ptolemaios besieged the settlement of Antioch. Zare the eldest son of the king, who know was Avagh Sepuh and the general of the second army of Hayastan. Was the only who was close enough to save Antioch of a certain dead and defeat.

Chapter 8
When our revenge comes and a prince needs to prove himself
Rule of Sanasar year 1

Zare and his army were a few months away from Antiochiea when they heard the news that the city was under siege by the Ptolemaioi, he was the only army near them. His father and the first army were still in their camp in Haysatan retraining their forces preparing for the war. But his father didn’t feel too well so if his condition got any worse, he needed to find a other general that could take his place in this war. But it didn’t matter for now only time can tell how it’s going be. But for now Zare needed to worry about getting his army on time to save Antioch from a certain dead. He called all of his captains to his tent to explain to them what his plan is, and why they need to reach the city on time. Few months later Zare and his forces reached Antioch. And when the people and the forces of the city saw the Hay banner in the distance they knew that they were saved from a certain dead.

The battle was not fierce when our troops entered the battle the enemy looked at them and run away as fast as they could. While they were doing that they left many of their deaths behind. And victory was ours yet again.

After the battle was done Zare and his army were invited in the city to honour their victory. But Zare knew that he hadn’t had the time to go to feast. Scouts from the borders have returned with disturbing news. Two large armies of the Ptolimaios Empire were sighted. When the scouts went to Zare to report what they had seen. Arsen was the leader of the scouts so it was his duty to tell the general what he had seen. “My prince, when we were near the enemy we saw large beasts we did not know what they were. They were riding on them like horses, but they were many times bigger. They were fed some kind of plant but the weirdest thing was that they were scared of fire.” Zare knew that his scouts never would tell him stories. “Then we need to find a strategy to defeat those beasts before they can reach our horse archers. I’ll think about this problem during our march there. But now I need to know how many soldiers they have and what type of units they have.” Arsen starts to speak: “Many light infantry, they have some regiments of elites with them but all tighter they’re numbers will be around a hundred, maximum hundred fifty men. They will not be had to kill but those beasts will be trouble if we can’t kill them on time. And I found it really weird that they hadn’t any ranged units with them.” After he was done he could leave and after an hour the army was ready to march against the enemy.
It was middle of ashun when Zare and his hay reached the enemy armies not far from the border and they prepared for battle.

The morning of the battle Zare rode out with a few of his scouts and has those deadly beasts that they were talking about. After he had seen those beasts he returned to his troops and said to them “Today we are at a begin of a new era, a era were a powerful Hay empire will rule over a vast empire. You have heard of those great beasts from hell. But I tell you that those beasts are called elephants and they are animals like our beautiful horse but many times bigger and stronger. They have a few weaknesses one they are scared of mice and second they are scared from fire. Today our foot archers have a great responsibility, they will use flaming arrows to kill them and after a while let them run amok. And now ride out and fight for our kingdom and its glory.” After that his army rode to meet the enemy.

It was the second month of dzmer when the scouts rode in to the camp with the news that 300 soldiers were marching towards the city. Zare knew that in the city there was only a little garrison but they would move out of their city to help their saviours. When Zare called his captains together to discuss what their strategy would be. Many of the captains wanted to attack the army and then come back and again lay siege to the city. But Zare had another plan: “All of you are her to discuss what we are going to do, most of you want to go and attack the army before they reach us. That’s foolish we would only lose time and the city will be resupplied again and next time a bigger army will attack us. I have a plan we’ll await them here and when those fools out of Sidon come to help their rescuers we’ll crush them both together and the city will be ours. Go and tell your men to be ready for a battle in the upcoming week.” After that the captains left the tent leaving him alone. Zare wrote a letter to his father: “Dear father, who is your health, and who is everybody doing in Hayastan. After we saved Antioch my army marched and defeated two of their armies, and now we are ready to take the city of Sidon. But I have a request you and youre army need to march so fast as you can and help us conquer those lands. With two armies it will take only a year or three and these lands will belong to us. With regards your son Zare.”
A week later the Ptolemaic forces reached his army and he was ready for another battle.

Expanding into the sea and bringing peace to the land

The last charge of the battle was lead by the zoravar and his body guards. After the charge Bagrat and his men entered the city and sacked it. Now That the coast of Africa were ready to be conquered for the glory of the hay Arkah, the city of Carthage send a diplomat to the king to ask for peace and trade with our Empire. But Bagrat knew that his Future not lay on the battle fields but in governing a city. He was lying in his chambers and listen to the night birds sing in his garden. And he started thinking about the past when he was a still a boy hearing stories about Samus and his victories but he also remembers the rule of Sanasar were the chronic writers were arrested because they wanted to warn the Ptolemaic that the Hay forces were going to conquer Alexandria and pillage the library so after that the history of Hayasdan was not written down till know with Zare now sitting on the throne there are no more parties in the council of Azatner. Every Azat stands behind the king and is ready to go and serve his country. But Hayastan is at war on almost every front, Macedonia is now gone from Asia-Minor, the Bactrian empire is almost destroyed and the Saka lands freed and returned to the last offspring of the Saka tribe heads. But first there were many Bactrian cities to be conquered. But for now our armies were returning to Armavir to be retrained. Summer came and with summer a diplomat arrived to beg for peace and the Hay Arkah accepted it and peace in Africa was sure for now. He sends orders to the African front to make the army ready to march to Arabia and learn the tribes there that invading our lands is not the best thing to do for they’re future.

In the same time that the king is singing the peace treaty a message from Gerrha arrived with a letter from Ayrarat of Apahuni.
Report of Ayrarat what happened during the siege of Gerrha.
It has been a longer than a year since we saw the first Saba soldiers arrive at our gates. Two weeks after their arrival they send a messenger with proposals for our surrender. But I know that if I would surrender the city that my father conquered I could never show my face in Hay lands. So I told the messenger our answer. But he didn’t like it. He became mad and tried to kill my wife after I brought my wife in safety I cut his head of his ugly body. The body was cut in to little pieces by my bodyguards. His head and the body parts were delivered in the middle of the night in the tent of the enemy commander. After that incident they started to build siege equipments. That happened in the second month of the siege. In the beginning they didn’t know how to build even a simple ram. But a few weeks later some Hellenic Mercenary arrived. Phalanxes with medium armor and shield, whit they’re arrival we saw a siege tower being build. But even with their help the building of siege equipment proceeded very slowly. Some of our soldiers had families outside the city; their number reached around 50 men. One night in the middle of the siege they tried to escape the city and go see they’re families. But unfortunately most of them were caught. Brave men, their only fault was that they had families outside the city. They were all tortured. We could hear them scream when you were standing on top of the wall.

Very nice preview, but I think you should add a screenshot of the map of your empire to every update. Just a hint, as you mention conquering Egypt in this one. But it is good nonetheless!:2thumbsup:

When the morning came, the screams of the soldiers was gone. And then we knew they were dead. After their forces were broken, I tried to find their families and tell them that they died like heroes. Because only a hero would risk everything to save the ones he loves. But I discovered something much horrible then the tortured soldiers. They had gone and found all the families of the tortured soldiers and raped all the women and after that killed them all for betraying Arabia. When the soldiers heard what had happened they swore revenge. And I have sworn revenge in front of the gods as my witnesses. But now back to the siege. We now reached now almost the end of our story; because they didn’t have any food left so they’re only option was to attack our walls. When I heard that they were attacking I thought our end was near. I came to the wall from the palace with the rest of our soldiers, the archers with almost all of our infantry moved to the wall. I and a group of Caucasian spearmen would protect the gate if they ever could enter the city that way. First they moved the ram towards the gate and the siege tower to the wall. The ram caught fire 70 meter for the gate, a blessing from the gods. The thread for the wall was gone but they had still their siege tower and Sapping point. We tried to ignite the siege tower but it didn’t work. They reached the wall but the peasants who were pushing it forward didn’t know how it worked so they were stuck there. Now my archers could destroy the sapping point and save a valuable part of our wall. Two hours later that happened and now only the tower remained between us and victory. I divided our archers in two groups one group would attack fire against the siege tower while the other would kill infantry who were standing close to the walls. It was almost evening when the siege tower caught fire and the men who were standing near it died in the pillage it made. Now their siege equipment was destroyed and they had no foot left. The only thing they could do was retrieve to their territory and see what would happen. Im Arkah I have one wish, train a new army in Hayastan and send it to me so I can lead it to conquer Saba territories and revenge my men who died in their hands.

When Zare received this message from Gerrha he was besieging Mytline for almost 6 months. A few days later a Macedonian force attacked them trying to save the city. But they failed and here’s the report Zare wrote for the Hay archives in Armavir.

Report of the battle:
The day started like any other day but I knew today the last presence of Macedonian power would be broken in Asia-Minor and Hayastan would rule over Asia-Minor. But first they needed to win the battle. Yesterday scouts had returned and brought info about their troops most of them are light armored phalanxes with some peltasti support. They had no chance to win today the city would be ours. A few hours after that the sun had risen, the Macedonian battle line became clear you could see they’re armor shine beneath the sun. When they were near our forces the horse archers rode out to kill so many as they could before the reinforcement inside the city would arrive. After a few hours they arrived but the only thing they would find here was their dead no glory for the Macedonian men. After that the battle was done our forces moved inside the city and took over the command.

That is some fragmented empire of yours! I like how Carthage and Baktria are progressing and that the Sauromatae are actually doing something. Be aware of them, and never trust a Ptolemy:juggle2:

I'd appreciate if you would post screenshots of your main armies (the unit card section is sufficient), along with info on where the army has campaigned. I have never played more than a few years with Hayasdan, so I'd like to see what kind of armies you have built. Maybe you could make it into a real chapter, explaining your empire's military strategies and tactics. Just a request, not a demand. :bow:

Anyway, it's one hell of a campaign. I hope you don't bother the Greek colonies in southern Asia minor. Of course you just might liberate them from their cruel tyrants, and maybe liberate the whole Hellas from Macedonian oppression... :2thumbsup:

Invading new lands on the other side of the sea

King Zare message for the chronicles in Armavir, the message was the following.

Many things happened since the last time I wrote from the city of Mythline. We stayed the winter there and as soon as the snow was gone we saddled our horses and rode out towards Europe, a new continent to be conquered. Even the mighty Persians couldn’t conquer the Hellenic homelands, but they were now gone as was the power of the Hellenic fools in the east. There is only Armenia in the east. Every one lives and dies under the rule of Armavir and the Arkah. After we left the city it tooks uf many months before we reached the sea again on the other side of Asia-Minor. The people who were living there would provide us with ships to cross the water, so there was no need to waist our money on building a fleet in the Black Sea. A few months ago messages out of Gerrha reached me. I didn’t know that the situation in Arabia was gone so bad so soon, the army I send from the African front had now to move faster to its target so the enemy wouldn’t have time to attack more of our cities, they should worry about preparing their defences against our horses. It was summer when we reached the cost of Asia-Minor. It took a whole week to transport our soldiers over the water. When we reached Europe for the first time there was no soldier guarding the coastline. So we thought it was going to be easy to conquer Byzantium and make it a base for future conquests. But we were wrong the second week we were there we saw the first soldiers, a Macedonian scout party searching our army. They were with many soldiers we killed most of them with our arrows, but a few of them escaped and went back to report our location and our numbers. I got to admit something, after the battle for Mythline our forces weren’t what they used to be. Many of my men were dead, in every company there were man dead. Everyone has lost many friends in this war and the men are tired of all this fighting and want to return home. I made a promise to the gods, if the battle was ours the men were free to go home, and I will hire mercenary to fight for me against those bastards called Macedonians.

But now I had to prepare a battle, I called all my captains to my tent and told them to go and warn the man what was going to happen. I told two of them to stay behind, Karo the captain of my bodyguards and Arsen the captain of the Nakharars. The three of us discussed and formed a battle plan where victory was achieved without many casualties. When they left my tent I didn’t realise that it was the last time we would make a battle plan. I called the captain of my scouts to my tent to tell him what his orders are. “Armen, you and you’re man are the only one capable for doing this. We don’t know where the enemy is with how many they are. But they know our position and our numbers. Now you’re duty is to and find out where they are and how many men they have under they’re command.” After he heard his orders he left the tent, called his man and they took their horses and rode towards the hills. This was the first time enemy scouts had out manoeuvred us. The battle was going to be hard if Armen and his men didn’t return. Two weeks later Armen and his men rode into our camp with grim faces, so I knew that the news couldn’t be that good. After he had rested for some time ha came late at night in my tent to report what he had seen. “Isn’t it late now to report this?” “Arkah, only the night is a good time to report this kind of bad news, they’re numbers are huge. Three time the men we have here. Some elites are fighting with the levies. And they are led by a great general. This battle is going to be hard even if we win our forces can’t go on further, we need to retread and resupply our forces and get more man.” After hearing all this bad news I called a servant and told him to bring us some wine. “Arkah this is no time for wine, I’ve got more bad news there forces will be here over two weeks at best.” “Two weeks so soon, I hope our men will be ready by then.“ We sat there in silence till the servant came with the wine. We called a few other men to my tent and started to drink and telling stories from our younger days. Time flew on and then we saw the enemy’s camp in the distance. That night I walked around in our camp and talking to the soldiers and while I was walking between my men I realised that no army could defeat us because they were all friends fighting and protecting each other’s back. I knew victory was going to be ours. The man going to day today will be remembered till the end of our days. Morning came too soon for many of us. We climbed on our horses and rode towards the enemy. Lacking any advantage against the enemy army, the moral was very low between our ranks. I stopped the army and spoke to them: “Today we stand at the beginning of a new era, an era were hay lords rule from one said of the earth to on other. The only one who stands between us and victory are those boys loving Hellenics. Their time of glory is gone, ones they stood against the mighty Persians and won but today they stand against Hay. Who are here as free men to fight for the glory of Hayastan! Over a thousand year people well talk about this moment were we entered the main lands of Europe. One day we will reach the end of this earth and rule over all those lands. Who is going to stop us, those weak Macedonians who can’t even ride on a horse? I say no men can stop us. And now men let’s go and fight so you can return to home and rest for the rest of your days, and knowing that you fought as free men next to your Arkah. But now let’s ride out and kill those bastards. Who is with me?” At that moment all the men started to scream and the horses flew forward, towards the enemy. The battle was glorious, arrows flying towards the enemy. Every man that wasn’t wearing armour fell dead as soon as an arrow hit them. Our archers and slingers killed the mighty phalanxes. Victory was ours with not much hardship. But we lost too many good men that day, Arsen the captain of the nakharars died in the second charge in the phalanx. The captain of my bodyguards died after he killed the enemy general, the second son of Macedonian king, a glorious dead for Karo. Those both man will be remembered till the end of times two true hay heroes. They will be put to rest in the temple of Anahit at Armavir amongst all those great Hay heroes. After the battle we retreated back to Asia-Minor. The hay forces returned home and I hired mercenaries to fight with me against those Macedonian scums.

Our navy had fought with Macedonians and the admiral send me a piece of a Macedonian war ship as proof that our ships ruled over the waters like our horses ruled over the land.

Winter came soon, now that my men were returning home I stayed behind with a small garrison of men who were my bodyguards and slaves. Winter passed slowly, the life in the camp was not that interesting at that moment. The only thing happening was mercenary captains coming and offering their services to the Hay Arkah and Hayastan. Off course I needed to pay them first so they would join my ranks nut these guys seemed like true soldiers, and I trusted that they wouldn’t betray me and go to the enemy. Spring came and my new Army marched towards Europe for the second time. This times there many infantry men in my ranks. And I was proud to fight next to such brave man. In the middle of spring we reached a large Macedonian army who was ready to kill us all. I didn’t have good scouts this time but Narek second in command of the old scouts stayed with me. He returned with news that victory could be us with not too much trouble and after that we could march to Byzantium unchecked till we arrive there. A week later they were there. I didn’t need to speak to these men because they didn’t understand my language most of the spoken Greek or a Gallic language I couldn’t understand. Their captains could speak Hayeren but the rest couldn’t yet. But in time they will learn our language.
