Since there is an obvious trend in the Frontroom with Bands, what are some bands you dislike? List mainstream bands i.e. not your next door neighbour's jam session with Billy from over the street last Sunday that kept you up. Mine are:

I know these are controversial and most people like them, but I personally can't stand them.

I do not hate, but the following I generally dislike:
* any "boy band"
* any "girl band"
* any typical jazz (big) band
* commercial / popular bands not caring for interesting (or even good-quality) music
* bands consisting of very young people unless they are interesting or potentially will be
* bands having fake attitude to show

Many a moon past there had been a time when I allowed emotion to control me. This was in my days as a young little lad. Having been forced to heed Beatles music I hated it, and even hated them herefor. However later I began to appreciate it only due to the fact of my doing and practising music. I began to understand the beauty of their music through a musical and artistic standpoint, becoming an art-doer myself.
But you know... Some bands are to be hated (when you allow such emotion to occur). Hating them is a silly thing, but it is quite understandable regarding some of them. For instance those groups like Westlife, Backstreet Boys, and the likes. Or bands who think themselves good, but they are not. Bands who think themselves original while they are not.
I have experienced people in real life who thought themselves like it. As a knower you are aware they are nothing special, but it is their ignorant conviction or belief that is the worst and that is able to even bring annoyance to those who usually would not be annoyed.
And though it is subjective, many people simply have bad taste in music.
Person: "Wow! This music is really good and original! Have you heard them play, man?"
Me: "Yes yes, you are correct. They are truly a peak, truly so special and good, and original. They do not resemble other bands of the same genre at all, because they are so special and original."
Read that piece of a dialogue and guess how my overall tone was. You will probably not find difficulty in guessing it.
Like Ive been saying I used to hear the "kids " saying this all the time about Zep and me and my friends would just laugh to ourselves. It seems with time they somehow are seen as a 60s pioneering group when in reality they were a 70s johnny come lately band. Still great musicians however. No I dont hate them and in fact love most of their music. Their just over blown IMO.Quote:

Any kind of Waddanuke-core kind of bands.
Korn and the likes would fit in such hatred of mine as well.
U2; uninspiring, and when you combine that with Bono...
I can find something to like in most music, but not the following:
Rammstein (lousy music, total rip-off of Laibach).
Scissor Sisters (once I heard their rendition of Comfortably Numb...!)
Nightwish (though mainly due to my neighbour...).

Fourth... that band whose music video is playing in "Hollywood Video" ALL THE FREAKIN' TIME. The one where the lead singer (and guitar, maybe?) is wearing that stupid looking mod hat... is it Fall Out Boy or something? Jesus, I'm way outta touch. Anyway, I hate to single them out, but it's just the latest and most annoying version of the same Kobain-spawned crap that is ruining music.
Fifth... Pink Floyd, after "Dark Side." Frankly, they should have gone with their instincts and just broken up after "Dark Side", because after that their music becomes painful to listen to. Every album after the mediocre "Dark Side" is exponentially worse, until we come to "The FinalRipoffCut" which, frankly, should have been locked in a vault deep beneath the Earth, never to be heard again. And then set on fire. (By the way, I don't even consider anything after Waters left to be real Pink Floyd, any more than the Doors are the Doors sans Morrison.)
Bad Europop. I'm leaving open the option that there's good Europop somewhere, despite the lack of evidence.

I gw up listening to all this stuff in the order it was made. Im just the opposite, I used to love the Doors. Now their just so so. I even like Zep better now. I never liked DSM that much. Wish you were here is their best work IMO. And again their are no better bands today. If the groups of the 60s had the equipment we have today hold onto your hat. Can you imagine what Hendrix and the Beatles would have come out with?

As to my taste in music, I tend to enjoy songs like "How to save a life" by The Fray. "Take me higher" is good aswell by Creed I think. Those would be the first 2 songs which jump into my head. My musical taste is much wider than the mentioned songs might suggest, although I do know why these are the 2 I think about first. It's because of where I was or what I was watching when I first heard them. Particularly the Creed song, which I saw in this video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opAEOVoghAA which is a good mix with the song.
The Sound and the feeling created by the sound is all that matters when it comes to music. Bands, names of bands, members of bands, attitudes of bands, spoils the music for me personally, unless they are quiet and dont do much interviews, like actors and movies(stories, not movies actually).

Oh my goodness. I'd not seen this before. Media restriction has worked absolute wonders in reducing my stress levels, but I do miss some good chuckles. While I certainly don't hate this song or Steven Segal, I find it funny and interesting that he would do this. Then again, he is a man focused on Spirit, and in the public eye, and music is an expression of Soul. I see nothing wrong with him doing a tune, making a video, and putting it out there. I do like rap, but not the current crop of :daisy:. It started to really suck in the late 90's, esp. with DMX who was/is horrible. The older stuff, late 80's early to mid 90's is great.
Don't particularly care for Indie music at all, or that emo stuff. /shrug
Perhaps one thing that I try not to let influence me but it often does, is stuff/music that people get snobby about or have really obnoxious fans. Like Indie music. :thumbsdown: Just because you listen to something that maybe 5 other people do, doesn't make you an exclusive elitist or a friggin' connoisseur there dude.

I admit it was a good collection of very bad music.
I like Mika's grace kelly, Scissor Sister are pretty good, with the exception of comfortably numb. Since i'm part of the nirvana generation I feel i should stick up for them too, but all I can think of is "They were neither as good or as bad as is often claimed", they were a little different but if kurt hadn't blown his brains out they would have faded from popularity imo. There are much beteer 90s (grunge) bands anyway.
I'm a bit eclectic when it comes to music, I tend to like a lot of different things, that said, there are exceptions:
Britney: Toxic is one of the most horribly songs I ever heard, and please don't let that woman sing another ballad.
Celine Dion: I really dislike wailing in a ballad
Punk bands like Sum41 featuring 16y olds with way too much tattoos recycling 'rebelious' music from 30years ago, badly
Emo bands, if only for the constant complaining (At the drive in gets a pass)

- REO Speedwagon - They're like a big, smelly ball of government issued cheese being shoved into your ear canal.
- Bruce Springsteen - Some of Bruce's early stuff is ok but I guess I don't get it, never got it and hopefully never will. Whenever I hear his music on the radio I can't change the station fast enough.
- Alice in Chains - I loved their first album, or at least the good songs of their first album... which amounted to two or three tunes. When they released their next album I realized they were quickly going to corner the market on depressing, monotone grunge/metal that is appreciated by people suffering from severe head trauma.
- Linkin Park - Living proof western civilization is in decline.
- Crash Test Dummies - WTF?!? I say again, WTF?!?
- U2 (post Achtung Baby) - Let's face it, they suck now. They suck hard and long and won't stop working that collective jaw until they mercifully break up the band. They jumped the shark right after Achtung Baby and for the last 16+ years have become skilled experts in churning out electrified bovine excrement. I can't believe this is the same band that did War and The Joshua Tree.
