The Catiline Conspiracy: A Small Roman Game [Concluded]
Ave players of the Gameroom!
As the more astute of you will have noticed, this game will be set during the Catiline (or Catilinarian) Conspiracy of 63BC. For more information about that event, check this out.
So, there will be two main conspirators, representing the whole conspiracy. It will be the role of the influential men of Rome (or of this forum) to find them, and kill them.
There will also be a pro town role.
Every player will be given the name of a player in the real conspiracy. This name will be given:
-when a player is lynched
-two days after the death (by the mafia) of a player.
And it could be a clue as to the involvement of the player in the Conspiracy.
Any questions, don't hesitate to ask!
EDIT: Ah, yes, I knew I forgot something.
You enter, you play. If you don't participate for 2 days, I'll find a replacement.

Re: The Catiline Conspiracy: A Small Roman Game
Alright! PMs have been sent, all. If there are any problems, questions, requirements, PM me.
The story:
Bodies began to pile up in the streets. Bodies of plebeans and patricians alike. No concern was shown, until the death of Quintus Caecilius Metellus Pius. The noble general's death demanded some investigation, and after some digging around, the Senate discovered evidence of a future Conspiracy, designed to overthrow the Republic.
The augurs were consulted, and no information was found. Gaius Julius Caesar, Pontifex Maximus, was asked to pray to Jupiter Optimus Maximus.
As the Supreme Pontiff entered the Senate to inform the men that he had not been able to learn anything, a voice was heard, grand, strong and resonating throughout the halls.
"Men of the Republic! I have heard that treachery is amongst you. I am Jupiter Optimus Maximus, and I speak the Will of the Gods. I hold you dear, and I tell you that you are not safe.
There is a way, however, to save yourselves. Find the twelve most important men to you, and let them congregate in the Senate by day. During that time, they will have to decide who will be given Supreme Punishment, who will be thrown from the Tarpeian Rock. They will do this in the manner you so adore. Democratically.
Those twelve men will be locked inside day and night. They will be given accomodation inside the Senate, and the doors will be opened for the punishment and when there are no more foes in the Senate.
Pro Senatus Populusque Romanus!"
After these words, the roman citizenship voted to see who would enter. After twelve names were found, those men were ushered inside, and they were locked in.
Would the Republic remain strong? Or would it crumble because of treachery? Only time will tell.
That, and the will of the Gods.
Okay. That's it.
It's day. Start voting. Tomorrow, at midnight (GMT+2), will be the first execution.

If you think w&f has a pro-town role, why would you consider switching your vote to him then?
-
Re: The Catiline Conspiracy: A Small Roman Game
Actually, Caius, I'm just a normal townie for once so and I don't understand why you thought I had the pro town role. I would appreciate it if you explained your thinking.
unvote; Vote: Sarathos
Ichigo started the voting by voting for Andres because he is a moderater so no I did not start the voting. Also I voted based off of Tib's location not his avatar. In my opinion the first round is all meatballing until someone says something odd that gets the discussion aimed at them. In this case it is Caius's abstain vote. I am still suspicious of Caius until he explains why he thought I had the protown role.
-
Re: The Catiline Conspiracy: A Small Roman Game
*Re-reads the topic. Frowns*
Hmm... Seems I'm forgetful tonight.
There are two pro-town roles. Sorry guys for having forgotten that.

Sarathos, that has to be the lamest excuse for voting for someone. I know that we've got no evidence to go on at the start, but why then try and make it based on suspicious behaviour?

Re: The Catiline Conspiracy: A Small Roman Game
I think Sarathos' vote was just a random vote. What other reasoning should he have provided with no more then a few posts in a game that just started?
Anyway,
Caius, I'm still wondering:

This is the type of attitude we get from bad townies.
You are no loss as a lynch.

Do you think he's guilty? Or do you have another suspect?
-
Re: The Catiline Conspiracy: A Small Roman Game
yeah sarathos if your going to act like that get replaced by killfr3nzy he might actually want to play
-
Re: The Catiline Conspiracy: A Small Roman Game
Guilty? Unlikely. Any benefit to the town? No.
Main suspect is W&F. He seems to be like Roadkill was when he started playing. Hopefully he'll get better, so I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Now in Caius' case, im going to wait upon a reply.
FoS: Caius

Exactly what he said, I have the exact same attitude as Woad&fangs, so I really doubt hes guilty. Its usually becuase of that attitude that gets me lynched anyways.

Re: The Catiline Conspiracy: A Small Roman Game
Guys ignore my previous post on top, I thought Woa&Fangs was Sarathos, so just replace sarathos into it.

You do not have an edit button...?
-
Re: The Catiline Conspiracy: A Small Roman Game
Either Sarathos is pulling a bluff, so that we won't lynch him, or otherwise he's merely a townie that's lost interest in the game.
If it's option (b), then we shouldn't bother lynching him, as killfr3nzy should be a more active villager.
If it's option (a), however, then of course we should knock him off.
As I'm leading towards (b) at the moment, I'll change my vote to Caius.

This line of thought is flawed and counter-productive. He also is making the assumption that it is W&F based on no evidence, unless they are scum buddies...

If you think I'm guilty then sure, but so far all I've seen against Caius is that his English is hard to understand.

Tally
Garcilaso:5 (shlin, Roadkill, Andres,Ignoramus, CountArach)
Sarathos:2 (w&f, TB)
Woad&Fangs: 2 (Sarathos, Ichigo)
Roadkill: 1 (Caius)
The next day, when the doors of the Senate opened, it was found that the man to be executed is Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus.
The General had done his best to defend himself, but his eloquence wasn't of the same caliber as his martial skills, and he quickly understood that he was going to die.
The 12 men went to the Tarpeian Rock, not far from the Senate. There they heard the same voice that had spoken the day before:
"You have chosen, I see. Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus, you have been found guilty of treason against the state. Step forward." He did, and an invisible force pushed him so hard he was flying for about 5 seconds, before falling to a painful death. The voice spoke one more time:
"Go back, chosen ones, to the Senate, to your accomodations. And tomorrow, with luck, there will be no threat remaining to Rome."
Garcilaso de la Vega was lynched. He was the General Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus.
PMs, if you please.

Re: The Catiline Conspiracy: A Small Roman Game
Thats why you should not lynched me!
Well done!
-
Re: The Catiline Conspiracy: A Small Roman Game
Yeah, anyway...
The following morning, the eleven men remaining assembled in the main chamber to see what happened during the night.
There, they discovered the body of Woad&Fangs, so horribly mutilated (going into precision would earn me a few warning points, I fear) that they were unable to recognise who exactly it was. They sent the body away, and demanded an enquiry to discovery the identity (the in-game name, if you prefer) of the body.
They then sat down, and began once again, to argue.
It's now day 2. Tomorrow, at midnight, one will be executed.

I have a hunch we're looking for Pever or one of his school friends.

you guys could all live in the senate house and spy on each other. That way no one gets killed.

And what bitching would that be Killfrenzy????

Its killfr3nzy
And it would be the constant questions of "why did you kill me?" that he enjoys
-
Re: The Catiline Conspiracy: A Small Roman Game
Come on guys, stop quarelling and start thinking logically; we're playing right into the conspirators hands if we don't try and analyze the evidence that's before us.
I have a haunch that Tiberius is guilty. Woad&fangs voted for him in round one, and it might be that his guess made Tib nervous.
Vote: Tiberius

Very possible. But there is no way to let them learn if they die early

Re: The Catiline Conspiracy: A Small Roman Game
This may be my first online Mafia game but that does not mean I would make a mistake that obvious. Killing the person who voted for me last round would be like voting for friends. It would be too obvious. And Btw I know Ignoramus from a forum game we play together.
