Kingdoms-Crusades hotseat
Anyone interested in starting a hotseat campaign for Kingdoms- the crusades?
If so I'll take Antioch
Kingdom of Jerusalem - Tristan de Castelreng (France GMT+2)
Principality of Antioch - Elite Ferret (UK GMT+1)
Egypt - Doug-Thompson (US central GMT-5)
Turkey - PrivateerKev
The Byzantine Empire - Zim
All battles will be auto resolved and the console will be disabled.

Re: Kingdoms-Crusades hotseat
I will give it a try as soon as I get kingdoms... Waiinting for a friend coming back from the States with it in his luggage...
P.S. : I'd like to play Jerusalem

Never tried this. How does it work?

Quite simple in fact
All you need is have Kingdoms crusades installed...
The first player plays his turn saves and upload the save to the pbm thread here on the Org or Filefront.
The second player down loads it and plays his turn and so on...
Player/AI battles are generally played out in your turn whereas PvP battles are auto-resolved
PvP Diplomacy has to be agreed in advance and exchange of PM for diplomacy is encouraged (Some behind the scenes dealing...:inquisitive: )
Console is out
That's about it...
Hope to have you on board (maybe as the Turks ?)
-
Re: Kingdoms-Crusades hotseat
We'll discuss the rules once all players are ready and I may start up a diplomacy thread and make a rule that all official dealings are done in public but there should not be much to discuss seeing as everyone but the Byzantines starts of with a war and an alliance. I will start the game off with the proper options we will use and uploaad the file as 'Crusades1-1' to mean first turn then first player. All you need to do is download your save save and play your turn simple. I will post a table to show everyone their number when everyone has joined.
-
Re: Kingdoms-Crusades hotseat
No problem here ...
How goes recruitment ?
i've gotten word from Doug and he seems OK to go (with perhaps a bit of help on the techncal side of things (dow/uploads and so on...)
From I read he would choose Egypt and then Turks in preference order
-
Re: Kingdoms-Crusades hotseat
yep he sent me the same message hopefully he will upload files to the right place and he can have Egypt
I've only had negative responses other than Doug but some people may get Kingdoms soon.
You realise this means that you will be fighting Doug for most of the game lol
-
Re: Kingdoms-Crusades hotseat
Looking forward to i in fact ...lol
Him having written the Missile Cavalry Guide...
-
Re: Kingdoms-Crusades hotseat
don't worry about that all battles will be autoresolved to make it fair on all players
-
Re: Kingdoms-Crusades hotseat
I love it when my reputation precedes me, especially when it's unearned.
I've never played online or multi-player anything, and will probably get my head handed to me on a platter. Could be a quick game, folks. I'm a theorist, which is nice and easy when you don't have to back it up.
:egypt:
-
Re: Kingdoms-Crusades hotseat
Too bad about the autoresolve...
I had forgotten about it...
-
Re: Kingdoms-Crusades hotseat
Although I'm not likely to get Kingdoms anytime soon, I must say what a wonderful idea this is. Hotseat campaigns like this, where there are only a handful of factions and everyone can have a player, look like they'll be a lot of fun.
-
Re: Kingdoms-Crusades hotseat
@Bob : When making the table listing factions and players could you add locations and local time of players
-
Re: Kingdoms-Crusades hotseat
okay I think I am in GMT+1 atm bacause of daylight saving time what time zone are you in Doug?

GMT does not vary with DST, it is standard..
It is just to know when I have most chances of reaching other players
-
Re: Kingdoms-Crusades hotseat
well at the bottom of the page it says 'all times are GMT+1' and that time is the same as on my clock so I guess I am in GMT+1

I'd like to gives this a shot as the Turks, if it's still open. Never tried any hot seat games before, but it sounds fun.

U.S. Central Time, which is GMT -5.
At this moment, it's the 9:10 p.m. in Greenwich and 4:10 p.m. here.
So if we're trying to do this all at once, with people making moves in fast succession, we may have a bit of a problem.
-
Re: Kingdoms-Crusades hotseat
If you really need another person Bob I'll be Byzzies
Edit: but I won't be able to take turns in the weekends
-
Re: Kingdoms-Crusades hotseat
this looks quite interesting i will get the game in a few weeks time and than if u guys r around here i would love to join you.
-
Re: Kingdoms-Crusades hotseat
okay Proletariat can take Turkey and Stig can have Byzantium, don't worry about the timezones Tristan just wanted to check where everyone is, we'll get started as soon as possible (tommorrow if we can get the rules straight).
Don't worry The Turk in a few weeks time I may start another one
-
Re: Kingdoms-Crusades hotseat
I will be out of town tomorrow. Sunday evening at the earliest for me.
-
Re: Kingdoms-Crusades hotseat
don't worry I think the Egyptians are one of the last factions to have a turn, we'll sort it out tomorrow, I'm going to bed
-
Re: Kingdoms-Crusades hotseat
Nice to know we'll finally be starting
Welcome Stig and Proletariat
@Doug : Don't worry about time zones... It was to know if yoou could be online at any given time
-
Re: Kingdoms-Crusades hotseat
here is the list of players in order, the number is what to put after the file when you upload it (eg the file that Doug would download for his 3rd turn would be 'Crusades-3-5' the 3 to represent turn number and the 5 is Doug's number. He would then upload a file as 'Crusades-4-1' for me. I hope this is clear for everyone.

Re: Kingdoms-Crusades hotseat
Please make it medium, I suck at this game really, especially on hard
-
Re: Kingdoms-Crusades hotseat

Yes, but the only reason I can survive on Hard is because I pwn the AI in battles.
Anyway, I'll give it a try, but I'm no campaign player, I only play MP normally, and can't do that anymore because GameSpy decides to be bloody irritating.
-
Re: Kingdoms-Crusades hotseat
Don't worry th Byzantines start off in quite a good place, if you ally with the muslims you can concentrate on rebels and repelling the venetians when they come or you can ally with the crusaders and help me fight the turks, and tbh i usually play on easy lol because I end up getting the crap kicked out of me, the only hard battle i've ever fought was agianst rebels in KotR
-
Re: Kingdoms-Crusades hotseat
Is KotR Hard?
mmm I didn't even know that?
-
Re: Kingdoms-Crusades hotseat
yh isn't it on H/vH difficulty, it was a pretty easy battle for me though, just a bunch of rebels
-
Re: Kingdoms-Crusades hotseat
I've downloaded the save...
I'll play it ASAP and post then...
-
Re: Kingdoms-Crusades hotseat
I've never played the game on anything but m/m either, looking forward to my imminent pwning :P
-
Re: Kingdoms-Crusades hotseat
lol well none of us seem to have played on hard before, this should be interesting
-
Re: Kingdoms-Crusades hotseat
I generally play on H/VH in SP
Playing right now, should be posted tonight

Nah, tomorrow about 21:00 your time

ok nice one, btw remember to guard Constantinople :2thumbsup:
-
Re: Kingdoms-Crusades hotseat
-
Re: Kingdoms-Crusades hotseat
cool, so it's Proletariat's turn now
-
Re: Kingdoms-Crusades hotseat
I thought campaign difficulties make it easier for the AI factions to recruit, get cash, etc. Since all factions except the rebels, Mongols and Venetians are taken, it shouldn't matter most of the turns until they show up?
-
Re: Kingdoms-Crusades hotseat
-
Re: Kingdoms-Crusades hotseat
Sorry to come in between this but are you guys fighting each other?
If so then maybe I could join when another hotseat is made (also when I get my copy of Kingdoms)
Thanks :2thumbsup:

when this one has finished I will probably start up a Teutonic hotseat and your welcome to join that one :2thumbsup:
-
Re: Kingdoms-Crusades hotseat
Sorry for your loss...
And if all goes well with this one, count me in for a Teutonic Campaign

don't say I didn't warn you :laugh4: , don't worry they only get three half stacks and in all my 1p campaigns they just sacked Constantinople once and then just sat outside it when the Byzantines retook it

FWIW, I think it was actually a Piety 2 priest.
I think I'll prolly have to turtle in Turkey until the Venetians come and help them pwn stig, unless maybe we can reach some sort of defense pact. :shakehands:
OT, it seems like there's enough interest to start a new pbm for Kingdoms, judging from all the posts here. One of you ought to put up a post about it here or in the MTW2 forum and see if you can get 4 or 5 folks.

I could always start a Teutonic one if enough people here are interested?
-
Re: Kingdoms-Crusades hotseat
I'd apologize, but I'm sure I'm getting paid back ten fold next time your turn comes up.
I think I'd be up for a Teutonic pbm. Would like the Danes if you do start one.
-
Re: Kingdoms-Crusades hotseat
ok then I think I will :)
-
Re: Kingdoms-Crusades hotseat
I believe the upload was successful, although I forgot to put it in a compacted .zip or .rar file. If there's a problem, I'll try again.

Re: Kingdoms-Crusades hotseat
Don't worry you don't need to for hotseat files (they're small enough already), I guess it's my turn then
