EB Recruitment Viewer Released!
Greetings Europa Barbarorum fans.
Today we have something we hope people will love, the previously mentioned Recruitment Viewer.
Go here to download it
You can use the Recruitment Viewer to basically view the recruitment zones for the EB units ingame and which MIC level they need and also if factional or regional MIC.
NOTE: For more information check the manual that follows the installer. Please check it before posting for any help in the forums, but be warned that most EB members don't know the specific details of the program.
Big thanks to LordBula for making this program and Kull & blacksnail for helping out. There are probably others worthy of thanks, but can't recall them at the moment, but thank you.

Re: EB Recruitment Viewer Released!
This is very cool and the first time ever I've wanted dual DVI for two monitors. I do want to know if the source will become available because I would like to also create a mode in which you can select a region and it will just RW to a text field all the units possible for every government type/MIC with a selected faction instead of doing it on a per unit basis. If the source is not possible then I will add it to a wishlist for new feature
ex:
select faction: Makedonia
click on map (interactive) or select territory from a list
display
MIC 1 Native
------------
x unit
x unit
x unit
MIC 2 Native
------------
x unit
x unit
etc...

Re: EB Recruitment Viewer Released!
Wow, this is terrific. It's a really great program, very well done once again EB. Although there seems to be a discrepancy, possibly. I'm not absolutely positive, so I'll check as soon as I can, but I haven't been able to recruit the Silurian warband in the province I should be able to, with an MIC up to the level I'm supposed to have it. Is there a government type restriction on there as well?
I think it might relate to the MIC, not the level but the type... I'm not clear on one thing. From the manual on the site - "Other options can appear depending on which faction is selected. Note that the MIC number that appears is just a unique way to uniquely identify a specific MIC building in the R:TW code."
Now for the unit I'm talking about, it appears I need the MIC type of 21 as indicated by the unit details, but I'm not sure what that is. Is it relevant in any way or am I misunderstanding something?
-
Re: EB Recruitment Viewer Released!
It's internal coding - substitute the letter for the letter of the alphabet and that's the MIC it matches. So, 21 would be barracks_U, 4 and 5 would be barracks_D and barracks E.
-
Re: EB Recruitment Viewer Released!
Are those separate from Regional or Foreign barracks?
-
Re: EB Recruitment Viewer Released!
Factional barracks begin at A and end somewhere in the middle of the alphabet. Regional barracks begin at Z and end somewhere around T.
In other words, it's all internal notation for EB isolation of barracks coding and will likely be of marginal use to the average user of the Recruitment Viewer.
-
Re: EB Recruitment Viewer Released!
Ok, so then it probably has nothing to do with the inability to recruit Silurian warbands. Maybe the foreign barracks weren't up to level 3 as they're supposed to be, and I thought they were... when I can confirm, I'll check back in just in case there is a recruitment error on their part.
Thanks blacksnail!

There is no plan to release the sourcecode.
You can see what units are available for faction in specific province in "Province Details" dialog.
You can open this dialog by Manu "View" > "Province Details" or by key combination ( Ctrl + p ). Check Manual for details.
You can also copy data from list by marking rows You are interested in and pressing ( Ctrl + c ).
You can then paste it to whatever program You like.

Sorry for the post without fiddling enough. This is perfect, thanks!

Re: EB Recruitment Viewer Released!
Excellent job again! You guys show the people how is gonna be a perfect mod made of. Maps, artworks, recruitment guide etc etc. Infact i can't call your mod as a mod this a complete game.
I do not mean any CA bashing intent but they should have a look at your project and inspire their team again. Again about historic accuracy, detail work, serious strategic warfare and such.
Back to topic. There is no "can i recruit that unit, those phalanx" thread anymore. Every single question find it's answer within that program. I was thinking to ask couple of question this morning but no need to do that anymore.
I warmly shake your hands and offer my best wishes.
-
Re: EB Recruitment Viewer Released!
I suspect with CA it is very much "this would be neat if we could put this in but a) it won't sell and b) we don't have the time or money to do so" - the painful reality of computer game development. It's why I shake my head when people complain about how company X doesn't support modding. But anyway, that's off-topic.
Enjoy the Recruitment Viewer, it is the reason you have 1.0. ~:)

Re: EB Recruitment Viewer Released!
It's also the reason why Arka's front sides were numbered rather than named...

Re: EB Recruitment Viewer Released!
One little problem with it, Baktrian Hetairoi Kataphraktoi dont seem to have been included, where can I recruit them?
Other than that the recruitment viewer is pure brilliance! :beam:
-
Re: EB Recruitment Viewer Released!
You can't recruit them. They are just a bodyguard unit.
Use your Hellenikoi Kataphraktoi instead.

You can get those ethiopian regionals only for Saba? Why they are not recrutable by all factions that conquer Ethiopia?
-
Re: EB Recruitment Viewer Released!
Mm, I have a request. Is there a version that uses the original ethnic-language names of the units? Quite frankly I've gotten so used to referring to all the units and thinking of them by their real names instead of the English translation that quite frankly I'm lost trying to relate the units I know to the English names in the viewer. Sometimes I don't even know if I'm checking up the right unit. ;-)

Hey, the only reason I know is that I proofread the thing for LorDBulA, who did such a comprehensive job in the first place. :2thumbsup:

Cheers for the release!:balloon2:

Re: EB Recruitment Viewer Released!
Is there a legend for the unit card details in the province data view? The icons below the picture, I mean.
Some are fairly self-explanatory, such as wedge formation, calabrian circle, but a full list would be useful. I did read the manual, but couldn't see anything there.
-
Re: EB Recruitment Viewer Released!
Nope there is none in Recruitment Viewer.
Check \Rome - Total War\EB\documentation\Arka Unit Cards\Card Fronts\Readme.jpg for legend.
-
Re: EB Recruitment Viewer Released!
Thanks LordBula, that's exactly what I needed to know :2thumbsup:
I've got to say, this is an excellent resource. I always consult it when planning further conquests. Great work EB people!
Is it against protocol for me to offer my own meager balloons?:balloon2: :balloon2: :balloon2:

When do they (hetairoi) show up then?
(I didn't pick Baktria as my first 1.0 campaign cos I wanted a shiny new tank. No, not at all...)
-
Re: EB Recruitment Viewer Released!
Vanilla Marian Reform triggers them to be your new bodyguard unit. (Requiring a huge_city in one of the nonRoma Romani starting cities.)
-
Re: EB Recruitment Viewer Released!
For Qarthadast the province Atiqa does not appear as a homeland province in the recruimentviewer, but it does appear as one ingame.
The same goes for Arche Seleukeia and Babylonia.
-
Re: EB Recruitment Viewer Released!
Those 2 new provinces are shown as "alliances available" for everybody. Only a small issue, but one which is very easy to fix (at least I hope so:juggle2:)
-
Re: EB Recruitment Viewer Released!
There are quite a few errors like this.
If You can point out such mistakes I will fix them for 1.1 update.
Time is ticking though and I will fix only what You report in this thread.
-
Re: EB Recruitment Viewer Released!
Thanks MAA for the reply (as always!), and thanks to his Lordship et al for the viewer. Top notch.

The island of Gwamjam Gotanoz is indicated as Latium in the recruitment viewer, while Latium itself is Latium_2. Also, the homeland provinces for the KH are wrong.
BTW, thanks for this great tool!
-
Re: EB Recruitment Viewer Released!
Latium and latium 2 is just a trick connected to RTW hardcoded feature.

Could You specify exactly what province are wrong and how ( how they are now and how they should be ).

Re: EB Recruitment Viewer Released!
Brihentin are apparently available for recruitment in Eburonum as a Gallic faction when they cannot possibly be given the government system.

The same seems to be true for Casse.
Drwdae 'available' in Ireland and Caledonia
Rycalawre 'available' in Europe
In these places there are no homeland resources for lvl 5 MIC, however it's ok as these can be recruited in homeland regions such as Camulosadae.
The worse thing is, though no Brihentin for Casse at all  as they can only be recruited in Gaul, where it's all expansion and no homeland provinces and for cavalry, I have to make do with Leuce Epos. Why would Brihentin be factional anyway as they are 'Gallic' and Casse are kind of British-Belgian

British? Briton, perhaps, but IIRC the Casse were Gauls that had migrated to Britain just before the start of the game. Belgae were Gauls to, by the way.
-
Re: EB Recruitment Viewer Released!
um, this is kinda a dumb question, but how come there arent any pezhetairoi in the RV? all i can find is the klerouchi phalangitai(sp?) AFAIK, the klerouchis are different from the pezhetairoi. at least their stats are.
so, why arent they listed?
(btw, i ask this in a very pollite manner)
and btw, the RV is the coolest thing to hit us since 1.0!

Dont worry mate, nobody will bite Your head of.
If You cant find specific unit check out Menu View->Unit Details.
There You will have full list of units available. Upon selecting unit name You will get list of factions that can recruit it.

Here's the secret. As Casse, you share Factional Barracks with the mainland Gauls (Aedui/Arverni). Accordingly, if you allow them to build the Level 5 Barracks, then you get to recruit Brihentin from that province after you conquer it. To facilitate this, you might want to intervene in the Gallic Civil War, to ensure that at least one of the two factions develops the economic strength to faciliate building the required levels.
As an explanation for this odd approach, think of the Brihentin as they truly were - mainland Gallic Nobles. To recruit these individuals to your banner, it would help if they knew your Faction was rich and generous, which is exactly the behaviour you would display by getting involved in the Civil War and gifting money and cities to one side.
-
Re: EB Recruitment Viewer Released!
The intervening business is not really neccesary though. Just wait till roughly 240BC before sending forth massive alien invasion. ~;) (At least 3 - 7 settlement ought to have been developped fully enough for the MIC trick.)
-
Re: EB Recruitment Viewer Released!
I'll try and do that with Gergovia which is the only settlement the Arverni have left, just beat them to a pulp,(Blame me for being impatient) but keep them alive until they build it (give them money, maybe use process_cq every turn or create_building (if it works)). I captured a level 5 MIC in Bibracte but it was still on time of Freemen and couldn't build Brihentin (not sure if they're tied to a reform or not) so I destroyed it and rebuilt it to level 4 using process_cq. Time of Soldiers hasn't come yet, though I've been making Dauerdanoch, Large Cities and Temples high priority, maybe I just dont have enough large cities yet.

Re: EB Recruitment Viewer Released!
When I run the viewer, I get a error popup with only an OK button:
Connection informations are missing.
Please fill in missing data.
My normal user doesn't have Admin rights (WinXP Pro), but "Run As..." an admin user doesn't help. However, when I log in as an Admin, I can run the viewer.
Any idea how to fix this for non-admin user?
-
Re: EB Recruitment Viewer Released!
Installation is made for only one user. I guess you installed it on your admin account.
Go to \Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data
Take note that Application Data folder name is localised so it wont be the same if you dont use english windows.
"User Name" should be your admin account name.
Copy Recruitment Viewer directory.
Now go to \Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data
But this time "User Name" should be User name on whos account you are trying to run RV.
Copy Recruitment Viewer folder there.
It should work now.

The installer wanted Admin rights. So I did a "Run as..." the admin account, which put the "Recruitment Viewer" data under that account.
Following your instructions fixed the problem. Thank you very much.

Re: EB Recruitment Viewer Released!
The recruitment Viewer is to be installed on the EB folder ? or
its just to see the units in the desktop ?
-
Re: EB Recruitment Viewer Released!
No it doesnt need to be installed in EB folder.
It's not an add-on to the game.
It works completely separate.

Check out what MIC level is required to build them. Check out if they require native or regional barracks ( this 2 things can be checked out in RV ).
Now open building trees for faction you are playing and check out what government is required to reach this minimal level of MIC.

Re: EB Recruitment Viewer Released!
LorDBulA, is there going to be a new version of RV released along with 1.1 due to introduced changes?

New version no.
But there will be update of data files so RV data is up to date with 1.1 version.

Well, I found in RV that I cannot see anywhere, where the Roman Western Auxilia can be recruited. The Eastern Auxilia are shown, yet the Western - are not.
What is about that?
