Can someone identify this film?

Set in Germany in the early 1930s. A popular medium or some other occult figure is being courted by the rising Nazis, but he absolutely hates them. A photographer convinces him to do a photoshoot, with him in dynamic poses. However, he is shocked when he sees the pictures in the magazine, doctored with Hitler's face superimposed on his body. Eventually the Nazis rise to power, and he tries to flee, but is killed by a hitsquad.

I can't even remember what language it was in (might have been English), but it was on rather late on Channel 4.
