I recently took Aleria and Karali.
On the island of Aleria there's no problem with building watchtowers, but i cant seem to build any on the island of Karali. Is that a bug or game mechanic?

Did you have a flood event for Korsika? If so then it's game mechanics.
I never did - but i guess it is possible that it happened before i conquered it..
Is there a way i can check?
Your movement range should be reduced as well in that region.
I usually remove the flood event from my mods because of these two issues.
