In my current campaign I'm playing a slow progressive game. I usually only attack one province a year, passify and reinforce, then move on the next year.
Well one season before an attack, I get the LSE. Granted you should take everything in the manual with a grain of salt, but it seems here is another example of incorrect information. Plus I have seen all sorts of speculation on this board as to what triggers the LSE. I quess we need to go back to the drawing board since its not based on an indivisual soldiers honor.
Koku for thought,

I made a post some time ago about No-Dachi and how to get the Legendary Swordman Event. You can check some answers here:

KokuEater, I read that thread and what VoodooChild is saying here is above and beyond the ideas there.
I also had an incident that adds to the debate.
I conducted my first battle, attacking Kozuke
as Usuegi, i did not use my daymio as he was holding shinato, after an absolute slaughter a recieved NO LSE. I checked the log file and two YC indivduals got 13 kills each and survived.
I re-loaded (and lost personal honour http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif )
and attacked with my daymio and used him heavily in the rout. He got 5 kills in the log file and i got the LSE.
I think the event is not just about getting five kills, but getting five kills in one battle once that cyberdude has enough honour, or some total honour of the army
Since honour comes from kills and kills are only recorded for a battle, then honour is the only way to track the total kills of a cyberdude and a total of kills that is more that five must be reached.
Since the daymio starts with a rank he must have some kills already to his name.
Has any one found any evidence in their games to confirm or deny this hypothesis?

Actually, now that I think about it, I get LSE everytime I fight with my Daimyo. Obviously only one per campain, but I seem to get them from bringing my Daimyo into the fight.

yeah it's quite difficult to understand how it works because in the beginning it is hard to avoid taking your daymio into battle
