I have a few ideas on getting my troops to gain in honor - since it is indeed one of the key factors in your success. How do you all make sure you maximize the honor your troops gain?

Attacking starved out castles at the verge of falling will give your general an easy victory hence increasing you troops honor...I usually wait till there are few if any enemy archers...less casualties that way.

good stratagey ill have to try it

Well - I had hoped for more response - but I am impatient LOL. Bumping up your general - at least to rank 4 - is a good way - but you kind of waste a really good opportunity if you pair a fresh unit with a good general. Take a honor 0 unit - fight with it a few times - get its honor up to 2 or 3 - THEN add a general with an honor bonus. For early in the game - when you dont have the famous and legendary dojo's - getting the early honor bump is a huge boost. Once you have guys being pumped out at honor 3 and you have a rank 4 or better general - it doesnt make sense to wait to put them together - but early on - its a nice boost - as otherwise it takes them longer to get the next level of honor.

I like assaulting starved-out casltes (or castles that didn't have much in 'em to begin with :-P) with solely my Daimyo unit and usu. one unit of emergency back-up (I learned that second one the hard way, lol).
If you can pull off a win, and gain honor, without losing more than about 3 or maybe 4 out of your hatamoto, then you usually get to keep the honor.. if not, then you get an essentially casualty-free victory! (Daimyo casualties are always regenerated for free!)
I dunno, it's just sort of an odd hobby I have, boosting my hatamoto's honor..
I think my record is base 5, or maybe 6 (I forget). At any rate base 5 is excellent, and if you get a good Daimyo to add 2 or 3 points to that.. well you get the picture.
