Can anyone tell me what triggers reinforcements etc in the AI?
I had 14000+ troops in awaji and they took forever to feed through..
Can I prioritise the order of the reinforcements as well??

Which version do you have, ol STW or Warlord Edition? In the old version reinforcements would come up almost instantly after you withdrew another unit.. but the reinforcement dealie with the new game is all screwed up I have no idea. The patch for WE makes reinforcements come from fewer random directions but as for frequency of reinforcements I'm at a loss.

Nothing is over! Nothing! You can't just turn it off!
I think the order is determined by the order that you put the units into the province but as for frequency, nothing you can do (as far as I know).

I think the thought process the developers had in WE was to send in a group of reinforcements so they could fight as a group and have a shot at defeating the enemy. What has resulted is a totally random arrival of reinforcements.
I think the solution is when you have reinforments available an "accept reinforments?" button pops up in the menu bar at the top of the screen. If you hopelessly defeated and reinforcements will just get slaughtered you don't hit that button and the battle ends when your units exit the field.
If you DO want the reinforments you hit the button and as many reinforments as you are presently allowed appear on the battlefield and the button disappears. If other units rout or are withdrawn the button reappears again.
Simple rule of thumb here you can apply:
If you need them, they will not arrive.
If you need them not, they will appear just to hassle you and take your mind off the battle long enough to get your main army routed.

LOL Vanya guess ur right http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif
i think the reinforcements come randomly, but they are triggered to come reinforce when either, one or more whole units get killed or retreat, as they disappear off the map, your reinforcements will appear. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

I wish that were so. I think Vanya is right.
There are times when I have been down to 3 units, and I know that there are at least 80+ spare units sitting off map somewhere.
Spend my time running around avoiding being killed in the vain hope that they will come in and "rescue" me for a while... ;-)
