No more High and Late starts?
The one thing I really miss from the original MTW are the multiple starting periods. Its so easy to win (or at least to forge a giant empire) quicky that I never really get to the late units; I loved being able to start with high tech and advanced buildings but still historic unit borders.
Is anyone working on mods for some later start periods? It would be awesome to have 1300 or 1400 starts with historically correct borders and buildings.
Re: No more High and Late starts?
I was thinking the exact same thing about 117 minutes ago, good call there. :smash:
[Edit] Oh, and welcome aboard!~
Re: No more High and Late starts?
I also miss being able to start in differant periods, the glorious acheivement awards, and a few other things that MTW2 could use. Even though MTW2 lacks these things I still think that it is a great game and you can keep it interesting with differant mods. :duel:
I am also looking for a mod along similar lines: one that has a slow buildup, is more challenging, and has more historical realisim. Currently I play the Lands to Conquer mod, which is Awesome!!! I think I might download another mod that adds more provices, just for a change of pace. You can find a lot of cool mods, to spruce up your game, in the moding section of the forums.
Welcome to the Guild~
Re: No more High and Late starts?
Yeah, I'm playing Lands to Conquer - I haven't even tried the vanilla game yet, as the consensus seems to be that LtC is much better balanced and plays better (am I missing anything?). Still pretty easy though, since its easy to lure the enemy into assaulting your cities and then wiping out all their troops. I've played ~7 campaigns or so, either winning the short campaign or getting so huge that it wasn't fun anymore, and have yet to see gunpowder, any ships other than the first 2 levels, or the Timuruds. Mostly playing on Normal/Very Hard, as playing on Hard or Very hard campaign difficulty seems to mean constant war with every faction, which isn't much fun either.
Definitely looking forward to other mods though over the next ~6 months or so. The most fun I had with RTW were the RTR and EB mods. Very cool.
Re: No more High and Late starts?
For those of you playing LTC expect to see an announcement over the next few days that should be very interesting.
Re: No more High and Late starts?
I have to try LTC yet (in detail)... ugh need a larger HD. Lusted can LTC be used with MedManager ? (I forgot).
Re: No more High and Late starts?
Yes it can, though LTC does automatically isntall to its own folder with a desktop shortcut to run it.
Re: No more High and Late starts?
Cool I'm going to try that soon, when is the next LTC out ? Also what is the benefit of LTC for someone who prefers to play Eastern cavalry factions (like Turks, Timurids etc) ? Lastly may I please make a signature out of the following shot ?
And welcome aboard Scooter !

Well their HAs and archers are as effective as they should be, and with the large rebalancing the Turks are ocne again a good nation, and JHi are pwoerful once more.

Sure thing.
Re: No more High and Late starts?
Great thanks for the info and the permission.
Do HA get double the ammo they currently have ? Last question... I promise.

Re: No more High and Late starts?
OK thanks! Looking forward to trying it again soon.
Re: No more High and Late starts?
A new LtC version? Sounds wonderful. Does LtC work with the Big Map mod? I'd like to try that mod but I'm loathe to give up LtC because I like it so much.
Re: No more High and Late starts?
Well im sure with the right work the BigMap mod can be made compatible.
And expect a preview of the next LTC version within a few days.
