Raising Money for Campaigns
As the beginning of the American Presidental Season barely rounds the corner, everyone is jumping to the shocking news that the year's 'war chest' is going to be in the millions, and I have a question.
When the season is over, what of the money?
Everyone donates to their candidates, and at the end of the year, what happens to the money?
Where does it go?
Can it be put to better use? Giving it to charities, decreasing the national deficit, scholarships, something?
Re: Raising Money for Campaigns
Actually in the grand scheme of the American economy, our elections aren't that expensive. We spend more on chewing gum than we do on choosing our leaders.
Re: Raising Money for Campaigns
That's not money it's free speech...
Re: Raising Money for Campaigns
Unspent money is kept by the candidates, I imagine. Hillary Clinton had a spare 1 million $ from her senatorial campaign that she's now using for her presidential campaign.
Re: Raising Money for Campaigns
They also keep that free speech after their political career to jump-start their eventual adventure into the lobbyist business.Where they can dispense more free speech. To give is devine.
Re: Raising Money for Campaigns
Well I think we can all agree that not everyone deserves the same amount of free speech anyway. Unless you're a communist or something.

Would any left-over money go to the Party's funding? Just an idea.
Interesting question though.
