Define "useless". EB is not about the gameplay, but the historical accuracy. The unit may stink, but as long as it is important for its region, and possibly filling a regional slot, then it's in EB. True, some units are somewhat redundant, and in gameplay terms, useless, but just because Thorakitai are better than Thureophoroi, who consequently seem useless and redundant, does not mean that Thureophoroi should be taken out. Nor does it mean that Thorakitai Hoplitai (Greek Heavy Hoplite Phalanx), which are quite useless, should be taken out as well. Overall, KH has numerous redundant hoplite units, as the nomads have redundant cavalry units, but one cannot simply fill unit slots with something that is more useful and exciting than historically accurate.
I mean an historically innacurate (and complained by some historians) units, that won't took their appearance in EB 2...
This thread is gonna go bad quickly...
Seriously, what's the point of this kind of thing? Do you think it helps the team design units? It doesn't.
Dosidateskeli wearing lorica segmentata.
Right on cue...
What makes these kind of threads repetitive, unhelpful, malicious troll-spam is that no-one ever offers to do any of the work necessary to rectify the situation.
Let's say, just for the sake of the argument, that there are some ahistorical elements in the EB1 unit roster. If you really want to help us, then I suggest that you
1. Research, source, quote, cite and annotate a unit roster based on stringent academic standards and provide unimpeachable evidence for every single facet of your presentation. Spend at least as much time on answering spam posts as you do working on the project.
After the year or two that it takes to complete point 1,
2. Model, Animate and Skin all the Units. P.S. That's 500 units in EB2
3. Code the units into the Game.
4. Stat, Playtest and Balance the Units.
5. Release to the Public.
That was the easy part. Now you have to swim in the sewer as you get hog-piled by people who think that they know better.
Criticism is not constructive unless you can suggest a solution to the problems that you have so much fun rubbing in people's faces. Even then, if you repeat the same crap over and over again it's just crap no matter how right you may be.
I'd like to see some of our serial critics come up with a complete unit roster that has absolutely no historically questionable elements in it.
This thread has no merit. We have released no info on our unit lists, and we won't do for some time. This is not a discussion about EBII but a discussion about EBI.
