I'm planning an AAR, (Pontic; does that sound good? I plan to write the whole thing, and then post the completed AAR a chapter at a time.) and I need to know about how cheats work in EB. I mainly plan to use the force_diplomacy and maybe the add_money in case a faction goes bonkers. :duel:
I know there's a mod for forced diplomacy on EB, so I will get that for starters.
But what culture slot does each faction use? If I wanted to add money to the Saba, for instance, I couldn't just write in "Saba." I would have to write in the name of the vanilla faction that the Sab'yn replace in EB right?
So could somebody just give me an example that I could copy>paste right into Rome_Shell? And a list perhaps of which EB faction replaces what?
Thanks everybody!
:charge: :charge: :charge: :charge:
*EDIT* Oh, I also need to know about posting pics. It looks like it has to be on the internet to use the url? so I can't copy>paste of course; what is the procedure? :book:
As far as I know you can't copy/paste directly into the game.
Also I find it a bit funny that you chose to use Saba as an example since it is the only faction who's faction was renamed.
hahaha! :clown: that's funny. :stupido2: I just randomly generated a civ in me head.
so in rome_shell I would type ("add_money: britons 99999...")? or do i have 2 many spaces or something?
Thanks Julius I

Nah - type in
add_money "britons" 40000
or if that doesnt work try
add_money, "britons" 40000
40000 is the highest amount you can give per time entering the command, but of course you can enter the command as many times as you want

Actually that isn't completely true, I have often used that one, although it sometimes doesn't work without any obvious reason.

Re: AAR role-playing cheats
it works, but you need to type in the correct internal unit name, which may or may not be as displayed on the unit card. often it is create_unit "[culture] [unit type] [unit name]" [number] [experience] [weapon] [armour]
for example, Syracusan Hoplite:
hellenistic infantry syracuse hoplite
or daha baexdzhyntae:
steppe missile cavalry daha baexdzhyntae
and so on. most of the internal unit names may be found in export_descr_units.

Re: AAR role-playing cheats
So how exactly do you use create_unit?
How do you place the units where you want them?

Re: AAR role-playing cheats
I just use add_money 10000 and that works just fine on my eb games. I guess that wouldn't work if you wanted to give money to another faction. I don't see why you would want too. CURSE YOU SCRIPT AI BONUS!!!!!!! :wall:

You type the name of the settlement/character that you want them to join between create_unit and the unit name
so create_unit "Roma" "unit name"
correct unit name found in the edu as Everyone said.
If you still need some more help give me the name of the unit you want to make and where you want it and I will give you an exact example.

Re: AAR role-playing cheats
I would also recommend move_character cheat.
I believe it's move_character "character name" X Y
You can get the character's internal name from the descr_names.txt file if it isn't obvious from the display.
To get the X Y coordinates, bring up the shell, place your cursor over the area and type in show_cursorstat.
A little more on create character you also have to add in the number of units, the experience level armour level, weapon level (I think, been awhile).
So create_unit "settlement/character name" "unit name" 4 0 0 0
Where 4 is the number of units, and the three 0's represent the armour, weapon and experience levels.
To take screenshots, easiest way is to hit print screen while playing. The pics go to your tga folder in main RTW directory (I think, haven't played EB in awhile). They are in .tga format. Use Irfanview to batch convert to .jpeg and upload them to imageshack or photobucket or whatever pic site works for you.

If someone can give me the EDU names of these, that would be great:
Hoplitai (Greek Classical Hoplites)
Pezhetairoi
Argyraspides (Hellenic Elite Phalanx)
Hippeis Thessalikoi (Thessalian Heavy Cavalry)
Lonchophoroi Hippeis (Hellenic Medium Cavalry)
Hypaspistai
Peltastai Makedonikoi (Hellenistic Elite Infantry)
Hetairoi (Companion Cavalry)
Agrianikoi Pelekephoroi (Agrianian Assault Infantry)
As well as their AS equivalents...
miotas, use one of these and Roma as an example.

Alrighty, you need to go the EDU which is located at Rome - Total War\EB\Data\export_descr_unit.txt
It is best if you open it in notepad++ or another similar program as it will make things much easier.
Then you need to open the find window ctrl+f and type in the in-game name of he unit.
Say I search for pezhetairoi I come up with a line that looks like:
hellenistic_infantry_heavy_pezhetairoi being the internal name and what comes after the ; being the in-game name
so for the cheat I type the next line:
create_unit Roma "hellenistic infantry heavy pezhetairoi"
the numbers can be added for extra numbers(5 max), chevrons, sword, and armour(9 max for each)
There are many variations of similar units in the EDU so providing names for all those is a little tricky but you should have no problem searching for them yourself now.
