Wink Re: Political Leanings of Members

    Country of Residence: USA
    Nationality: USA
    Political Compass Result:
Where do you put yourself on the political spectrum: Center-Right

Do you indentify yourself with a certain political grouping (socialist, neocon, etc): Euroskeptic.

Do you indentify yourself with a certain political party: Former Democrat, until after Carter. Now Republican

    Religion: None

Abortion: Would not suggest it to another. Otherwise, consider it nature's way of deleting biological dead-enders.

War in Iraq: Did not advocate it, but, agreed with it. After 300+ mass graves discovered, still agree.

War in Afghanistan: Afghans had options to invasion, but, chose to shelter and protect bin Laden.

Marijuana: Used it, don't recommend it. Studies now show regular use lowers sperm count! Glad I quit early..hehe

Firearms: Man, it's a Right here! However, I own none at all.

Gay Marriage: What do I care? As we say, "It's a free country".

Gay adoption: Requiring as much oversight as any other adoption. Problem is, the PC crowd considers it 'profiling' if you exercise that oversight. Dump PC and I don't see a problem.

Religion in schools: Not an option because of the separation of State and Religion here. Of course, in the UK, there is no separation. In France, there is no religion. In Germany, the State IS the religion.

Death penalty:For it- A massive study recently determined that every state execution prevented 7.8 murders. Saying you're against the death penalty for criminals means you are FOR the death of the 7.8 innocents.

European Union: I have no choice in the matter. Unfortunately, neither do Europeans. They should not complain about having no choice in the US election. After all, they have none in the EU, either, and they don't complain about that.

Default Re: Political Leanings of Members

    Country of residence: Switzerland

    Nationality: British

    Compass result:

Where do you put yourself on the spectrum? Socially and economically conservative (in the true sense of the word).

Do you indentify yourself with a political group? Consevative Revolutionary (look it up), though thinking about it, I believe my politics can be simply summed up as Catholic. Alternatively, I sometimes consider myself as an Anarcho-Dandyist, fighting to bring about the downfall of the tyranny of the vulgaroisie.

Do you indentify yourself with a political party? British Consevative Party, more precisely the members of the Monday Club.

Religion: Roman Catholic by tradition, but disagree with many points of theology. Not sure I'm really Christian, as I find that Jesus is a bit too much of a hippy. Like to dabble in solypsism.

Abortion: against it in an ideal world, however there will always be women who desperately want to get rid of their children, sadly. Therefore I reluctantly agree that they should be legal in the first two and half months of pregnancy, however, the system should be geared towards discouraging it and only presenting abortion as a last resort.

Marijuana: Yes, prohibition doesn't work, and yes, alcohol and cigarettes can do loads of damage as well. However, that doesn't mean that we need to add to the legal harmful substances, as legalisation would surely lead to a great increase in consumption. I think depenalisation is the best solution, which is what mandy countries have adopted.

Firearms: Generally speaking, I do not hold great trust in the intelligence of the general population, least of all their ability to wield lethal weapons with responsibility.

Gay marriage: Am not for homosexual "marriages" but I would be in favour of almost equal status partnerships.

Gay adoption: for, but heterosexual couples should be given preference.

Religion in schools: In favour of mild religious influence, such as religious education classes and prayers and hymns in morning assembly.

Death penalty: In theory, for, in practice, against.

European Union: Strongly against the formation of any sort of political union.
