Le Rapport Royal de l'an de Grâce 1114
Affaires militaires
This year has been a year of consolidation of our armed forces. Recruitment and retraining has taken place throughout the Royaume.
Hermant Mauvoisin has reached Dijon, as have done the Militia companies coming from Bern. Most reinforcements heading to Frankfurt will reach it this season, further bolstering the forces there.
Prince Charles has arrived in London. The population has not taken well to his presence.
The only event of significance is the attack made on Prince Henri’s army by a large and experienced Imperial force north of Frankfurt, forcing the Prince to withdraw or suffer heavy losses.
Surprisingly, the Reichlanders didn’t give chase.
Recrutement
Here is the list of our recruited and retrained forces.
Metz has not recruited all the requested companies as the combined forces of Prince Henri and Duc Thomas should prove enough to hold Frankfurt against the Reich. The addition of Sieur André des Vaux to their forces should help as well and as such only one company of Sergeant Spearmen have been recruited in Metz.
Money would be better spent replacing the losses due to the upcoming fights.
Armoured Sergeants could not be recruited in Staufen in accordiance to Duc Thomas’ prioritizations but Sergeant Spearmen have been recruited instead. The barracks there could not equip Armoured Sergeants.
Albion
Large English forces have been spotted in the countryside around Edinburgh. Two different armies have marched south and are now laying siege to York.
Germany
The large Imperial force is still in pursuit of Prince Henri. Herrmann Erlach has left our borders and is now keeping watch on the bridge leading to Magdeburg.
The Polish noble has retreated after establishing a watchtower on their border.
Bern is threatened anew by an advancing Imperial force.
Iberia
Sultan Tahar has fled the advance of Prince Louis, leaving only a token force in range of the Prince’s army.
Affaires diplomatiques
An offer of ceasefire in exchange for the return of York and some tribute has been made to England and was refused. In the light of what happened in the following weeks, it is now understandable.
Sieur de Rochefort reports to have met a Scottish diplomat headed for Caernarvon, which could explain the Scottish refusal to deal with us. Maybe we’ll soon face an English-Scots alliance.
Affaires intérieures
Many of our constructions have been completed this year :
Metz has notably completed a Stables, giving our northern border easier access to light cavalry companies. Garrison quarters have also been completed in Toulouse.
Marseille and Dijon have seen work start on the improvement of their walls. Bruges had a Town Guard started.
Affaires de la Cour et du Monde
Barbus Selvo has been blessed or cursed with another daughter, Anne.
A young noble has presented himself to be adopted by Charles.
We have supplanted the Byzantines as the most advanced faction in the world. This acts as confirmation that though we are at war, we still act for the greater good of the common folk.
The proximity of so many heathens seems to have turned the head of one of our priest. The man has begun preaching that Islam and the True Faith are one. He shall have to be dealt with.
And while we fight his masters on the Isles, English Cardinal Aston is happy in Bordeaux, indulging himself and drinking our fine wines.
Sicily and Milan remain embroiled in ceaseless battles around Genoa, with Milan keeping the upper hand.
Recommandations
The Council of Nobles has asked us blockade Edinburgh for a 1000 florins reward.
His Majesty doesn’t have any recommendations at this time.
