    Question sauromatae - nomadism

    morning all,

started yesterday with a sauromatae campaign - fancied a change from the massed pikes of makedonia and felt that i might check out these HAs. (that's if i've understood HA to mean horse-archer...if it means something else, my apologies...)

so - fancied a quick read around of tips for sauromatae, and a further explanation of nomadism. found some good things on the forum, but noticed a lot of the info is for 0.8, and not v.1. How much has changed between the two versions?

In particular - any new tips for using the sauromatae? any key decisions to be made early on?
also, is this picture still appropriate for nomadism/pastoralism:

if it is, excellent, if not - what's changed for nomadism/pastoralism in v.1?

    thank you!

That should still work basically for teh Sarmatians. not for Parthians though - but there is a newer one that includes all of them (in the parthian preview we did here - check the sticky for all previews, then look for the parthian changes one, and you'll find it there). There may be one or two minor changes in the newer one.

thank you teleklos. i sallied forth a little more yesterday evening - very satisfying. i've been playing this campaign with far more focus on the FMs, attempting to really get a handle on what drives them, i.e. keeping the ones with "wants to settle" in pastoralism settlements, and campaigning with the "nomadic nature" or "lives on the move" FMs...working well so far. enjoying the vast open distances also, and just about got my economy slowly rolling upwards!

    any more tips always welcomed.

I´ve always found the Sauromatae campaigns to have a very peaceful and tranquil feeling about them, the music mixed with the open spaces, the battles, the building, the everything, just makes me feel good inside.

I don't come here a lot any more. You know why? Because you suck. That's right, I'm talking to you. Your annoying attitude, bad grammar, illogical arguments, false beliefs and pathetic attempts at humour have driven me and many other nice people from this forum. You should feel ashamed. Report here at once to recieve your punishment. Scumbag.

i was feeling that too! just defeated 8 units or so with just my general Babai and one loyal regiment of HAs, the most basic kind, and it was still just really satisfying. finished by charging 3 units of Caucasian Light Spearmen and managed to rout them all! woop!

But yes, massive open spaces, much slower growth - v v fun.
