    Default KH problems (orange sickness)

Now I've played quite a few campaigns before. Mostly as the Romans , Bactrians, Cathaginians, and Macedonians. Not once have I ever seen, nor heard, of this happening...so bare with me. It is 219 B.C. and I am playing as the Aedui, I just finally finished conquering the italian peninsula and one of my cities in the north, has been invaded from the sea, by a full-stack Casse army. Naturally, I pull out my forces and begin to march north until...I ran face first into a KH full-stack....in the middle of Europe(?!?!?!) I thought to myself, Wtf?! How'd they get there?! In every other game I've played, this is around the time that the KH disappear from the map. They've NEVER made it this far before! For the first time since I've started playing, I took off fog of war. The blood rushed from my face. Orange everywhere. The Macs were gone. As were the Epirotes and the Getai. Pontus and the AS were up to their necks in orange full stacks. Nervously, I checked the "factions ranking list." They excelled at everything. Population, finances, military, territory, all were at the top of the charts! I fear for my empire. As strong as it is, it cannot hold back this storm. I've put alot of heart and time into this campaign, only to see it fail at the hands of the greeks. Against...so many soldiers...what can I do? I've tried to ally with Sweboz but the option never shows. Alone, no one can prevail. Greece has been unleashed.

Well all the previous nicknames are actual disease/plagues so it makes more sense.

Like the Macs AKA the black death. Also known as the Bubonic Plague.

The Ptollies AKA yellow fever. This is a well-known disease.

And now, The KH AKA the Orange sickness. This is a genetic disorder caused from direct exposure to Agent Orange nerve gas. You can google it if you want.

Granted, it sounds a little lame but that's all I could come up with

Purple "painstick" actually doesn't sound too bad

"Green Mold" doesn't go too well with Arverni, though. Don't really know what to choose for them - not that it matters though, since neither Gallic faction ever becomes anything more than that.

    Averni= Lyme disease
it's what you get from ticks.

In my Averni campaign the KH will probably end up being the dominant power in greece and anatolia. Ptolemy's and Baktria are carving up the former Seleucid empire. The Sweboz are in contol of Germany and Poland, and they are fighting a war of attrition with me over the Rhine.

Why did the chicken cross the road?

So that its subjects will view it with admiration, as a chicken which has the daring and courage to boldly cross the road,
but also with fear, for whom among them has the strength to contend with such a paragon of avian virtue? In such a manner is the princely
    chicken's dominion maintained. ~Machiavelli

Its just a Crusade that happens to be nude, I don't see any problems with it. I would sanction it.

Luckily the greatest fantasy story ever told wasn't ummm....told yet. So no explanation to the pope will be required. Did i just say that out loud, so to speak?

All must bow before the ferocity and fighting spirit of the mighty....errrr...Orange Sickness? Hmmm, that doesn't quite have the ring to it that i'm looking for as a KH apologist.

The Lyme disease is becoming rather considerable, I have to say. They have all Gaul (almost), are deep in Iberia and defending Vindelicoppidos against Sweboz, having destroyed Aedui.

However, in Iberia they ARE butting heads against the Brown Diarrhoea. And the Sweboz are very considerable now, dominating northern central Europe (I foolishly destroyed and took Carrodunum, Eburonum and Iuvavoaeta for them and gave it to them). I wonder what Maroon ailment they can be?

Haha, yeah I know, Orange sickness rather sucks but it's such an exotic color to find an ailment named after it. You could call it "Agent Orange" after the nerve gas.

Interesting. I am playing Rome; you can see some of my laments in the playing card thread and "too many Creeks." It is now ca. 191 BC, and I am doing this from memory, but:

One of the Gallic factions is gone (the Averni?), as are the Sweboz too, IIRC

The Makedamia-nuts are gone, shades of this complaint, conquered by the KH.

The Seleucids are gone, carved up between the Ptolomies, Armenians, Pontics, and to a small degree the Parthians and Baktrians.

The Ptolomies are now the major player in the eastern Med' and poor Pontus (I do pick the wrong allies!) were down to one town, "Nicea" (or whatever its called in the game), 'til I grabbed Pergamon from the KH and gave it to them. We'll see how long they last.

I was originally minding my own business mopping up "rebel cities" in Illyria, scrupulously avoiding contact with Epiros (neutral to me) and the KH, these last actually my allies!!! So of course --- the KH attacked me!! IIRC, by then the Epirotes and the Getai had been reduced to client status by the KH.

The price the KH have paid for attacking me, their ALLY, and then refusing any entreaty of a treaty -- I mustered forces and have expelled them from the western Aegean. I am now master of all Greece, Makedamia, Thrace, and Illyria, from Sparta to the Danube. I have left Epirus alone (2 cities) -- for now. The Getai are quiescent north of the Danube -- for now. I'm watching them carefully.

The KH are now trying to maintain themselves in "Asia" with my constant coastal pin-pricks to "keep them in line." The Ptolomies are harassing them from Antioch and vicinity. Mean-when, the Armenians, and what's left of the Pontics, are vying with the KH for "Asia."

What I am really trying to accomplish -- with something of a "blunt instrument" i do understand -- is to keep the KH in the game, but force them to push against my "real enemies," to the east. If I can slowly force them into Kappadocia, and maybe even cleverly pull the Pontics into "western Asia" and keep them in the game, maybe I can buy myself some breathing space to develop my economy -- money fuels everything! The longer I can keep out of direct contact with the Ptolomies, the better, I figure.

Mean-when I have now overrun Iberia, and am dealing with what is increasingly looking like "rebellion world!" It is really eating up troops to keep the cities in check. And finally, I am slowly either eliminating the hated Carthos', although if I can manage it, I plan to leave them Lepkis and the town out in the desert which I can't remember, and try to keep them as a buffer between me and the Ptolomies.

Some time I must figure out what that town is way out in the desert to the far SW of Carthage... And how to get out there to seize it!

I always though it was some kind of chemical weapon. There are many cases of people having some severe reactions from direct exposure to it. It never came off as a herbicide, to me. Oh well, scratch that name
