I just started playing EB. My battles seem choppy and slower than on plain RTW. I am I imagining this or is this normal? I am using the same settings as RTW. If not is this a RAM issue?
Thanks a lot.

lethalithy has been lowerd so that battles should take longer.

I dunno what you mean by choppy, but the battles are indeed much slower in EB than RTW. The thing is that the EB units are moving as fast as they should, while in RTW the unit's were running around like some crazy cheetas

If you're talking about framerates then yes EB will probably be a bit slower for most people, not sure by how much (haven't played vanilla in years) but IIRC the unit models are a lot more detailed.
More RAM will always help, outside of battles with EB's nasty load times too.
Cheers
EDIT
btw what are your system specs?
I've just bought myself another 2 GB of RAM - going from 1 GB to 3 GB should make quite a difference!
2GB total is perfect for EB.

3 gb is just insane.....

if I have 2 gig, can I buy 2 more?

I only have one gig and my turns take 20-25 seconds max. Running XP though, is there anything good about Vista?

Yes, but it depends if you feel its worth it. I have Vista but thats only because I have XP64 on as well via dual boot.
Performance is definitely worse in Vista, significantly so, things didn't really get satisfactory for my tastes until I went from 2 to 4gb of ram.
I would say perfect for EB: 2gb, 4gb on vista, anything more wont hurt but is just overkill unless you use your pc for anything heavier imho.
As far as battles go though, if you have enough RAM the graphics card and CPU will have a lot to do with it...
Cheers
@Zarasophist -- It's ALL about the RAM...more is better...I don't know about 8GB, though...!

640K ought to be enough for anybody. - Famous misquote of Bill Gates - not known to play EB...

And Z80 processors are powerful enough as well...
Actually rignt now 4GB is as much as you need. Right now the PC can acutally address only 4GB of RAM at one time, so if you have more it is maximaly a storage roome for a bit quicker loading of data, but your processor cant work withmore than 4GB.

Wrong. New processors are 64bit (Like Intel Core2 Duo). Install 64bit system and you can have more ram that is used (if your mainboard supports that amount of ram ).

Hups I forgot about those.

My mistake.
