Thread: Italic Generals??

    Question Italic Generals??

I am down around 190BC, have the Polybian reforms working along nicely, and in many cities in Italy have reached MIC-5 (or believe I have as I am building the extraordinarii - foot and horse). However, while I have built every blessed building available in Roma, and most in Capua, for example, I have not been optioned to recruit "Italic Generals..." So, what did I do wrong??

I built LVL-1 governments throughout Italy, and LVL-2 everywhere else that it was permitted. Was that "wrong?" Was i supposed to select some variant of "allied" government in certain cities? And if so, how do you know which?

I HAVE the EB-Recruiter. I've consulted it carefully. Maybe part of my "problem" is the "Codes" are just a little too "arcane." For example, what is the difference in the recruiter for the Romani between "Factional," "Regional," "1," "26," "2," and "21?" I THOUGHT "Factional" & "Regional" were pretty self-explanatory 'til I started looking at the others!!

To get recruitable generals you need to build a regional level 5 MIC. The Romans can recruit extraordinarii (foot and horse) with their local MICs from about level 3 or 4 (I think).

Of course to get a level 5 regional MIC you will need a level IV government. I'd suggest that you select a settlement that is already pretty well developed economically-speaking, and set up a level IV government there. Then when you've built the regional MIC up to level 5 you will able able to recruit an Italic General (and perhaps a Lesser Celtic King, or Greek General, depending on the settlement).

I agree that the recruitment viewer can be a little confusing for the Romani, presumably to be able to handle all of the various reforms.
One balloon for not being Roman

Thanks Apgad... sounds reasonable. I will give your suggestion a whirl next time I crank 'er up! Maybe in Arpi -- its pretty well along. This is my second campaign -- tried a "learner" a few weeks ago. In it, IIRC, i built a regional in Massilia and was able to recruit both Greek generals and Celtic minor kings. This time 'round tho' I've been building a LVL-2 everywhere outside Italy, and have not been able to recruit 'em, so that's probably the issue... 'precaite it!!!
