Bullet-shaped helmets provide for a better ballistic trajectory when fired from a cannon. A lesson taken from Thermopylae.

maybe the spartans needed time at thermopylae, no heroin no alchohol no nicotine, nor did they need help from caffeine-just dynomite and turpentine. maybe they needed oil for gas-explosive one like kerosine, with lots of Octane and free of lead, a fuel like BENZIN!!! (petrol in german and arabic)

that's why they made the Pilos (the bullet shaped helmet) -to cut on gasoline needed for transportation and shooting

(no that's not true-pilos was open and lighter than a corinthian-so the opted for it since 450BC)

Pilos helmet: More open, lighter, not to mention cheaper and easier to make and wear. They sacrificed additional protection for the use of their peripheral vision and the ability to hear orders better on the battlefield.

And besides, it's not like the Greeks would use the same helmet design during their entire period of existence, eh? That would just be silly...

The Thracian helmet is already all over EB: Hypaspistai, phalangites, some cavalry.

Expect differently shaped Thracian helmets along with much more variety.

"Let us remember that there are multiple theories of Intelligent Design. I and many others around the world are of the strong belief that the universe was created by a Flying Spaghetti Monster. --- Proof of the existence of the FSM, if needed, can be found in the recent uptick of global warming, earthquakes, hurricanes, and other natural disasters. Apparently His Pastaness is to be worshipped in full pirate regalia. The decline in worldwide pirate population over the past 200 years directly corresponds with the increase in global temperature. Here is a graph to illustrate the point."
