Just what IS it about this game that has this effect?

I have never felt emotional about any game-in MTW, Id look on with detachment at invading Egyptians, or the encroaching Byz. I certainly wouldn t say: "I want so-and-so s head on a platter by tomorrow-no yesterday."

When I started an Uesugi game on Hard, to which I was not even committed, Hojo invaded again and again, and I was incensed! I wanted Lord Hojo and his family to be dragged behind galloping YCs and then beheaded and ...

Well, you see what I mean.

    Great game.

For sure. I get pissed on some Daimyo's now and then as well.. revenge it certainly part of the game

And, in my Mongols vs. Hojo campaign I'm feeling really bad about slaughtering all those samurai. When they rout at the end of battle I sit back and watch my cavalry chase 'em down, and I feel very guilty + sorry for those guys.

Makes it a great game indeed.

It indeed has that effect. I remember a certain Oda Daimyo who really wanted my Imagawa lands.. and when I killed him, his son seemed to have a much less agressive character and immediately offered peace. But no! He had to pay for his father's deeds!
The purpose of a fish trap is to catch fish, and when the fish are caught, the trap is forgotten. The purpose of a rabbit snare is to catch rabbits. When the rabbits are caught, the snare is forgotten. The purpose of words is to convey ideas. When the ideas are grasped, the words are forgotten. Where can I find a man who has forgotten words? He is the one I would like to talk to.

Not feeling involved is one of the reasons I never finished a MTW campaign. Even though a STW campaign isn't always that nice when I just have to roll up the last resistence, it's something that must be completed.

I've no idea but more than once I've ordered men to commit seppuku because they routed in battle. That can get costly so I try not to do it :)
