Thread: focusing on chivalry

    Default focusing on chivalry

    Hi There,

As I've said before on this forum, I'm not really a modder, but I'm getting interested in customising my MTW2 gaming experience. And so I'd like to ask:

Is there some way - perhaps via the traits system - of highlighting chivalry in the game? What I want is for chivalrous generals to get rewarded and unchivalrous ones to get punished - the idea is to make it harder for generals to be unchivalrous.

That said, there should still be room for unchivalrous generals and deeds - it's just that I want to replicate - as far as possible - the Medieval preoccuptation with chivalry as a code of practice for knights.

Is this possible? Any basic hints or advice welcome!

What you are asking can certainly be done, it will just be immensely time-consuming. What you will need to do is open export_descr_character_traits.txt and add or change the traits you want - then you will have to adjust the triggers that cause these traits to occur. This is the trickiest part because of "tokens," the conditions that cause the triggers. I dont know if anyone outside of CA itself has a full list, so probably what you will have have to settle for is trial and error.

Good luck though, and welcome to the immensely frustrating world of modding!

Hi Irb and thanks for this.

Mmm, sounds like a challenge! But you are right about modding - can be frustrating, but also rewarding if and when you get something right. I'm sticking to the 'little victories' plan so as not to get too despondent!
