A little idea to pass the time of day. For you good people of the Throne Room I give to you "I am at Your Will where I play the game and you be my advisors. Now this is for Vanilla RTW/M2TW and to spice things up how about you pick your favourite guys (or gals) from the time period and nationality of your choice to aid me on my quest. It is up to you what faction I play as and of course what game I play on (RTW/M2TW) Who is with me?

It's a good idea and one I've seen done successfully before. In fact, a similar RTW game with the spectators as the 'Senate' was my original inspiration for the WOTS game. I'll certainly lend my voice when it is needed.

Well, I don't have Rome, but if it ends up being MTW2 or one of the mods I'll be happy to chip in my two cents. Do you want steamrolling kind of advice, or more historical/drawn out? It might be fun to select famous people from that nation's history, even if anachronistic, and to try to play out their role.

I'll do my best to help out. My specialty is more in RTW, but it won't hurt to have a dissenting advisor if it's M2TW.

Lots of interest, very good. Since nobody is making any decisions I will use M2TW as that is the newer game. And I like Ramses II CP's idea of advisors from that time period. Now it is up to you which faction I choose.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Can a moderator please fix my title? I was not aware that you can not have a different coloured title.

I'll also throw in some advise when required.

Good to see it's M2TW.

Scotland's always a challenge; it could be quite interesting.

Please bear in mind that my M2TW skills are rather primitive. Also can many famous names be drawn from the big hat that is the Kingdom of Scotland?

If we get to vote on a faction I'd like to suggest Spain if it's to be a long name.

The Moors would be second for me.

I'm fine with any faction. I think even anachronistic advisors could be fun, just pick someone famously of that nationality and try to see matters from their perspective.

I'll throw my two cents in from time to time, probably.

As for a faction... Well, how about... Sicily? I've never played them before.

But I'm fine with any faction.

Unless there objections, I'm stealing Rob Roy MacGregor, the so called Scottish Robin Hood. I'm planning to take the approach that I'm more a voice in the leader's head than an actual person. Might end up fighting a duel with one of the others else.

You can well imagine the kind of advice I'm set to offer.

I'll give this a try. Not sure for a name though

I'm allowed to pick a totally fictional character for my advisor, right?

If le a historical name but I guess that i'm not going to be picky. To get more names into the pool and create a bit of humour what about past and present Scottish people?

In that case, I'm going to play Kjar Bloodhammer, a former Viking who, during one particular merciless raid on an English town, was too involved with the fruits of his plunder and missed the ship back to Norway. He decided to take up residence in Scotland, passing his unique knowledge of killing and hit-and-run warfare onto the Scottish generals.

-edit- Thanks Ramses, but I've had this type of character rattling in my head for a while now and I think he'd make for some fun interactions. If you all don't mind.

Sounds good to me GH! So, we've got a Viking, a Patriot, a Scoundrel, Semi-Loyal family... and a Chef.

Very interesting.

Wouldn't it be interestiing if each player had one topic to advise on?(E.g finances, miltary expansion, diplomacy, religion, subfertage, etc.)

GeneralHankerchief 00:19 03-18-2008
I volunteer for diplomacy.

-edit- Somebody needs to take Connery.

Heh, if we were going that approach I'd like our respective offices to appointed by the King, and interference with other offices be encouraged.
