TC, Sigurd, Kommo...Are you in league for the town, or yourselves?
Same question been on my mind when the game didn't end with W&F's death.

Town is probably doomed. Let's wait and see what happens at night..

    Default Re: Netherworld Mafia

Fahad I was slowly marching his his way back to the great hall where the councils had been held each and every day since the destruction of the Netherworld had begun. He was feeling quite relieved that he had survived his guard duty once more, more so that he didn't have to have some other being come to his rescue against some violent intruder. A nice, stress free night...

As he came to the gates to the grounds of the structure, he was quite surprised to find them ripped open and tossed aside. Something tugged at his conscience, telling him that something was amiss, something wasn't quite right. He quickened his pace through the grounds of the complex, until he reached the door which would lead down the hall to the council room. He turned on the heel of his feet as he wheeled around the corner, only to jump backwards in shock. There, in the doorway, greeting all who entered, was a truly grotesque monument to malevolence. Three heads, currently indistinguishable due to scars, gouges, and burns, sat atop pikes which had been driven into the floor below, creating a wide-gapped, picketed fence of sorts in the doorway. Fahad I couldn't believe his eyes, couldn't believe the carnage had reached this far...

He slipped his way through the pikes, hurrying onwards to the main council chamber, hoping to arrive there before anything truly terrible happened. He sprinted as fast as he could until he reached the doorway to the chamber, ripping the door from its hinges as he leaped into the room. He was greeted not by the usual drum of chatter and talk, or even of the makings of a brawl between two belligerent demons. No, what greeted him shocked him so much that he fell immediately to his knees, in awe and fear of what lay before him...

Before him lay the unmoving corpse of his Lord, Kamikhaan, laid out upon the great table which he had been host of so many times before. Standing upon the table, with one foot on Kamikhaan's back, the ancient, terrible execution sword in his left hand, and a wild grin decorating his face, was TinCow. TinCow looked down upon Fahad I, and his grin grew wider. He motioned to behind Fahad, and he was immediately seized by two demons who had been waiting on either side of the doorway. Ichigo and Proletariat drug Fahad I up to the table, up to TinCow, who stepped down from the table to better size up his victim.

“My,” TinCow mused. “It has certainly been one very wild ride, has it not? I must admit I wasn't sure about this whole plan from the beginning, it put much on the line for me. But as they say, without risk, where can there be reward, no?” Fahad I was still too stunned to remark back to him. “You seem quite surprised by this turn of events, no? Perhaps you expected to just return to your little council every day, not thinking or realizing the events which would change this very world forever. That was your flaw. That was all their flaw...” Fahad I managed to spur enough courage and nerve together to manage a simple question.

“Who are the ones outside?!” Fahad I demanded. “Who's heads are out on those pikes?”

“Ah...that, I think, I can leave to the each of us to tell... it really is quite a tale, I suppose. It would be a shame for nobody else to at least hear of our heroic escapade. Proletariat, perhaps you would like to go first?”

“I would love to, MY LORD,” Proletariat responded, adding emphasis to the final two words, as if to add to the sting Fahad currently felt.

    BEGIN FLASHBACK:

Sigurd Fafnesbane had just returned to his home following the near unanimous lynching of Crazed Rabbit, hoping to catch some rest and that the final remnants of the force sent by the Gods would finally be eradicated that night. He rolled a boulder over the entrance, hoping it served to be more sturdy than the earthen slab he had been using previously. About twenty minutes later, he heard a faint pounding sound to the outside of his entrance, seeming to resonate from the boulder. He got up from his position, and ambled over to the boulder.

“Who's out there?” he questioned. A soft, feminine voice responded.

“Could you offer a demoness a place for the night? I have tea!” Sigurd considered for a moment. Certainly, he had not had tea for a long time, and perhaps it might actually be even better since had been raised. Plus, it certainly couldn't hurt to have some female company over...

“Very well, I shall remove the boulder! Back up!” Sigurd slowly rolled the boulder backwards from its position blocking the entrance. As the blockade rolled away, a smaller, demon form was revealed, a creature wearing a shawl and veil which covered her face from the eyes downward, as well as a long, trailing cloak, making the demoness look as though she might be swallowed at any moment by the articles. She held a small tray in her hands, with a medium sized kettle on it, which seemed to be heating from invisible source. “Come in, come in, I have room to spare!” Sigurd boasted, sweeping a hand backwards indicating the large, yet mostly vacant cavern. “I still have yet to relocate some of my possessions, but no worry!”

“Thank you very much, very much indeed,” the demoness responded. “Please, have a cup of my special tea right away, as thanks for putting up with me for the night.” Sigurd gladly accepted the tea, and immediately downed a large sip of the brew. It tasted hot, spicy, very unusual for any tea he'd ever had...

Sigurd began a tour of his cavern to the stranger, and as he got the the empty cages which once housed many souls, he suddenly felt woozy, nauseous. “Wha...What was in that tea?” he questioned the demoness. Suddenly, suspicion sneaked its way into his mind. Why was she so quick to offer tea? Why was she being so polite, putting up with his mind bendingly boring tour of a vacant cave? Sigurd began a stroll to the other side of the cavern, where the few weapons his previous assaulter had left abandoned, finding them useless. The demoness contently followed after him, leaving his question unanswered. Now within three yards of the weapon rack, Sigurd leaped for the nearest weapon, stumbling first before recovering, and finding his grip on a spear. The demoness merely looked at him with a pleasant smile, seeming to be unconcerned by her newly armed host. “I'll ask again,” Sigurd said. “What was in that TEA?!” Suddenly, his vision blacked out for a second, and his knees buckled. The demoness strolled contently up to him, pulling a short sword from inside her cloak. Sigurd's vision regained color, though it remained blurry. He took a stab at the demoness with the spear, only to have the attack dodged and parried with an eloquent swipe of the blade in her hand. Sigurd fell to his knees, while the demoness came down upon him with a quick stroke of the sword. Sigurd, in his near drunken haze, wavered at the last second, and the sword just barely missed a vital stroke as it sheared off a piece of Sigurd's left cheek and cut through his shoulder. Proletariat kicked him in the chest, knocking him to the ground completely as Sigurd's vision once more failed him. Proletariat took the sword, and began work beheading her hapless host...

    END FLASHBACK:

“Of course, Sigurd was just one of our targets tonight,” TinCow explained to Fahad I. “Ichigo, of course, wanted in on the action as well. Would you care to offer your your events?”

“But of course, MY LORD,” Ichigo replied, as he, like Proletariat, stressed the final two words in glee to Fahad.

    BEGIN FLASHBACK:

General Hankerchief had managed to finally arrive at the cell block which was his duty for the night to guard, just glad that he had managed to make it to the secure area before being attacked. As he sat down to rest his feet, he heard a shuffling sound to the end of the corridor, as though an elderly demon was strolling the prison corridors in search of news or something...

His curiosity piqued, GH ambled down the corridor, only to soon find the cause of the noise as a raggedy, crouched stranger who held a large bowl in front if it with both hands. The stranger looked about the cells with awe, amazed at all the souls held in each one, as one might look upon a long lost lover. Its attention switched to GH. “Good demon, perhaps you could spare a few of these souls for a poor commoner? I just need two or three... honestly, that's all, please?” GH looked down upon the stranger with a mixture of pity and disgust.

“Sorry, but I'm supposed to be guarding these. I can't just start handing them out to every person who asks for them; it'd defeat the purpose.” The stranger whined in response, coming closer to GH, seeming to be hoping to evoke pity.

“Pleeeaaase... just a couple, I swear I'll stop bothering you...” The raggedy one latched onto GH in a desperate sort of half hug, half squeeze. GH attempted to push the deranged creature off of him. As he began wrestling the stranger off of him, GH felt a sharp, searing pain strike his left shoulder, leaving the subsequent arm quite useless. Ichigo had pulled a knife from a belt hidden by his garments, and managed to drive it into GH's shoulder during the tussle. GH fell back as the pain caused him to wince, giving Ichigo the upper hand has he drove GH onto his back. Ichigo pulled the knife back in a wide arc, whilst pinning GH with his free arm, and drove it into his chest. He attacked again and again, striking mercilessly over and over again, even past the point when GH had stopped resisting...

    END FLASHBACK:

“Yes, the whole 'homeless beggar' routine was quite successful,” Ichigo bragged. It seems that even in the Netherworld, creatures have enough sympathy for the less fortunate to let them close enough for knife range...” he finished with a wicked grin adorning his face.

“Well, yes, your's was quite a tale, Ichi, but perhaps its time for mine?” TinCow offered.

“Sure, I'm quite done,” Ichi confirmed.

    “Very well, then,” TinCow began...

    BEGIN FLASHBACK:

Kommodus was resting in his small cave, as he hoped to regain some energy for the coming days. During his meditation, he heard a strong blast echoing from the room next to his, where the entrance to his cozy home lay. He opened his eyes, and got up from his sitting position just in time to witness a tall intruder storm the other room, burning so bright it lit the entire room by itself. It spun instantly when it heard Kommodus move into his upright position, and held up a hand, palm facing Kommodus, and shot off a powerful blast of fire. Kommodus leaped to his left, just dodging the blaze. The intruder stormed into the room, as Kommodus fled into the third and final room in the cavern to attempt to escape. The intruder kept after him, shooting off another blaze into the next room. However, rather than making contact with an earthen wall like the previous, it hit a group of jars and beakers, melting the containers, but more importantly, causing a violent reaction with the contents of said jars. The jars exploded in a terrible blast, causing the intruder to leap back and hide behind the wall separating the rooms to avoid it. Once the echo of the explosion had passed, TinCow cautiously crept into the next room, to see what was left. Large amounts of the ceiling had collapsed, the walls charred, and an entire section of possessions had been liquefied. Most importantly, however, was the remains of Kommodus, singed in many places, incinerated in others, only his head seeming to have avoided significant damage. TinCow walked up to the body, and stared down. “Oh, my apologies, how rude of me. Thanks for the favor the other night.” TinCow then reached for Kommodus' head, and yanked it from its body with ease, leaving the cavern with quite a little trophy in his right hand....

    END FLASHBACK:

“So yes, even Kommodus has fallen,” TinCow explained to Fahad I. “When we finished with our objectives, we returned here a little early. We put up our little display, figuring it would draw you in quite nicely to this little trap. And as we can all quite plainly see, it worked quite well. Of course, we had to get rid of a slight nuisance first,” he motioned a hand back the limp body of Kamikhaan. “So, Fahad I, you're the only one left now. You can either accept me as the new ruler of the Netherworld, or I can execute you right now.” TinCow ran a finger over the execution sword in his hand. “I can see why he kept this close to him. It really is an exceptional weapon. So, are you with us in our proclamation of a new, better Netherworld, Fahad, or will you be destroyed needlessly?”

Fahad, his head still bowed as Ichigo and Proletariat had him bound before TinCow, replied in a meek voice. “I accept.”

My God, perfect setup. Tricked twice in a row by TC. I'm almost sorry Lothar lived now.

    Great game, Hades people.

It's not my fault I was given a serial killer role.
Ironic that my first and only truly random kill was the real vigilante.

    Roles:

    Mafia-

    1) Michael the Archangel- special ability: would always slay Lucifer in combat, regardless of situation.

    2) Herekles the Great- special ability: would always slay the Hydra and Cerebrus in combat, regardless of situation.

    3) Shiva the Destroyer- special ability: would always slay Efreet in combat, regardless of situation.

    4) Kitsune DaiYoukai- special ability: if investigated on a night when not killing, would appear as "innocent" to detectives.

    Pro-Town roles-

    1) Efreet- Essentially a vigelante in the town's favor.

    2) Hydra- Doctor, had a 25% chance of slaying attacker when protecting. Would be automatically slain if attacked by Herekles.

    3) Cerebrus- Doctor, had a 15% chance of slaying attacker when protecting. Would be automatically slain if attacked by Herekles.

    4) Great Djinn- Essentially a role blocker. Could block one person from performing a night action at a time.

5&6) The two ghostly spectres- were detectives. Long lost brothers who got mixed up on the chaos ensuing after the Netherworld was invaded. Each had a special 'codeword' which was based on what their 'name' was in the Human world. Names were "Ham" and "Shem", both of whom were sons of Noah in the Old Testament.

    7) High Necromancer- Could raise one person from the dead at a time, during night. Would have to wait three turns in between raises, to allow for 'recovery' time, so to speak.

    Special roles-

    1) Hades- started the game as a serial killer. After four kills, could raise two players from the dead during one night phase to start his own mafia, with the goal changing to that of a general mafia.

    2) Lucifer the Deciever- This was quite a tricky role, and in retrospect, probably was too ambitious. Started the game as a mafioso, making 5 mafioso to start. However, had the option of going rogue. If killed three on its own, could convert two people to start its own mafia. Was NOT to sell out mafia teammates until at most 8 people were left, to try to keep the game in balance.

EDIT: Host commentary will be coming later, probably tomorrow. I'm a bit tired after working on this for about 4 hours... No worries, all will be revealed, if it hasn't already.

I knew it! The way he described his role sounded too similar to my own. Unfortunately for pever, I beat him to the kill requirement.

Wow, I tip my hat to the victors, especially TinCow. You nailed us good, people, very well played!

Obviously we should've listened more closely to the people who said you were on a team of your own. I considered that view for a short time, but quickly dismissed it - to my own defeat!

And to think I raised Hades himself from the dead! I'll be a long time living this one down...

Fantastic game, kamikhaan - it was a very innovative setup. Throwing in the whole Hades twist was completely unexpected. Congratulations!

Okay. I was right in that you weren't using that "thin reed" to mask your mafo status. I was wrong to assume that you weren't using it to mask your goal. VERY well turned (and obviouslly quite a bit of brass clanking going on).

    Kudos!

Also, nice final play for Ichigo and Proletariat. Both of you stayed so true to your styles that I never thought something was wrong until too late. Even then, I was actually thinking that the twist was Sigurd & Kommo & TinCow, not TinCow in charge.

    Well played Hadeans!

    Very nicely done TC.

I guess I should have killed night one, or even not made my attacks obvious.

    Close, but no cigar.

    Very good game Kamikhaan.

So from what kami wrote, TinCow started out as vigilante and upon receiving
his resurrecting power was able to resurrect two who then became his new mafia family...

Ok... I am not sounding like a sore loser here, but...

Sweet talk and acting about the same as in Capo won this victory for TinCow and his goons.

    Congratulations!!!

There was absolutely nothing that gave away this setup. Dying for the town cause and then get the necromancer to resurrect you to victory...
    Hall of fame worthy.

    Great game kamikhaan, thank you

    Very well played TinCow

At least I don't feel so bad about not working out what my special ability was now

looks like Efreet was Scottishranger who TC offed in the first round anyway!

Hence why I voted him round 1:

My vote was ignored by TC.

And now you vote GeneralHankerchief because he misread the write-ups That's an awfully bad reason.

Neutral sounding post; very much unnecessary explanation, voting for a bad reason.

Gah. Well done TC. I knew that town would most likely lose when W&F died.. they were waaay off on their lynches.

q- GH, why didn't you explain more. You guys had no clue who was anti-town, and I vouched for you to be lynched. If you had explained more I would've started shouting about lynching someone else.

q- Pever, why on earth did you mention any names at all when infiltrated in TC's town group? You should've just accepted your own death.. you knew the names of the detectives already anyway, right? instead of only you dying, you took the last two mafia W&F and Mak with you.. Not too brilliant.

Too bad that we were wiped out so soon... bad luck that we had one wogged, (WH) not brilliant play by me, because TC recognized my behaviour as supicious and so I got myself killed, makanyane was suspected by some all along as well, along with pever. W&F might've held out longer, if only pever wouldn't have mentioned names..

I have a question for pever and TinCow,

Did you know about the ability to form new mafia families from the onset?
Or was this something added to your role upon the milestone of e.g. 4 kills?

Basically, except my role PM told me I was a serial killer, not a vigilante:

You are convinced you are just as powerful as him, and thus, you abandoned your post at the Styx river to allow any agents from the World of the Gods through. Meanwhile, you have planned to take advantage of what you knew would be ensuing chaos, to destroy Kamikhaan and establish your own realm of the Netherworld.

To begin this game, you shall start like a serial killer. Each night, you may target one player to be killed. After you have achieved four kills, you will subsequently have new options available to you. I shall explain them in further detail then.
I told the truth about not knowing my own special ability until 4 kills, but from reading the summary, I think that was true for many of the special roles. Fortunately, I accurately predicted that it would involve resurrection and prepared for it accordingly. I have to admit, I'm particularly pleased with the whole public resurrection vote. The town convinced themselves of Ichigo and Prole's innocence simply because they voted for them.

Kudos to Andres and Sasaki, who were the only people who never quite bought my story. There was a reason I gave a preference for Sasaki on the resurrection vote...

@Drisos: I was infilitrating the pro-town side, and needed to give them credible evidence to back my story up. I tried to slow them down in how fast they killed you off, to make sure I had my 3 kills.

@Sigurd: Yes, I knew straight away, along with limitations i had. I choose to go straight for it, but not kill on the first night, Im not sure why. Make my "use my special ability on this person" more believable I guess. I did have that, by the way, I could flip results on the investigations, I just never used it, even on nights I didnt do anything.

Bah, I knew I was right about Tincow, well, great game, nice trick tincow, killing your fellow mafia, and then resurrecting them later, or did you not kill prol?
