    Default Worst Earthquake

My best Pahlavan army, on it's way to destroy two half-stacks of rebels in Kappadokia Pontika, consisted of 1455 men (elite noble and armoured HA's, phallanx, Tindanotae, persian archers) lead by Jahangard e Madig (7stars, 5 management, 9 influence) got caught.

Forces left: 83 men, general killed. The Will of the Gods, army wiped 94%, has anyone here done better?

On the other hand the rebels suffered as much, my governor and a spy stationning in Amaseia were killed along with one half of the civilians.

Ouh that's painful! I reloaded the last turn: same result plus flashflood in Gava Roxalana, revolting -I did not even look at the losses, bah...

    Gods hate me!

So my question is: has a major earthquake really occured on Pontus 159bc?

AFAIK, there were lots of major earthquakes in that area: the rhodes colossus and the temple of aphrodite at ephesus, two of world's seven wonders, were destroyed by two different earthquakes.

I don't know if there was one in 159 BC, but in any case it makes sense.

    Wheras the gods love me!

Playing as the Hai a strong independant army attack Armavir whilst my entire field army was away beseiging Phraapsa. I thought I was doomed, 1 FM inside the city plus one HA and a Cacasian Spearmen quickly raised elsewhere were going to be no match for what they had.

Then WHAM! Earthquake. My units were reduced by 95% but so was the enemy! Problem over.

Worst I had was quite recent - a Makedon army besieging Dalminion was hit by an earthquake, 1758 casualities - mostly Pehzatoi, Thracians and Thess Heavy Cav, veterans of the campaigns in southern Italy and Sicily. The General leading them survived somehow.

Beat a quick retreat back to Pella and Serdike to retrain and took Dalminion a few turns later.

A fullstack army on its way to be shipped to Eipiros got hit by an earthquake between Capua and Taras, one man per unit survived, both Generals dead.
I was shocked but as good Roman I quickly overcame this set-back and annihilated Pyrrhos just a few years later than planned.
