Use an Ethernet cable if you can. I promise that it will be faster, unless you need to connect pc's using Wi-Fi.

Im presuming Horseman knows that, but just go into your local store and ask for the fastest one.

No, because they're just going to sell him the most expensive one they've got. Do NOT do this.

You may not realize it, but you just made a contradiction, kinda like "military intelligence" or "government organization". USB-based wireless is always going to be lower power and signal strength simply because it cannot be supplied with the same amount of power as a PCMCIA or PCI card. If your PCI card burned out, then it *might* be an indication that it had to constantly transmit at the highest power it could just to get a good signal. Anything wireless, cards or routers, will eventually burn out over time if they have to do this. Between my parents and myself, we've blown through 4 routers and countless cards because it's so damn hard to get a good signal in our respective houses due to all the interference.

If you MUST get a USB wireless dongle, just get an average cheapo G-based one. Linksys is usually good.

Lastly I would strongly urge you to consider what Caius said; wired is always, always guaranteed to be faster, more reliable, and free from interference (all things being equal). Good luck either way.
