Hysteroi Pezhetairoi

So, I see these "evolved" Pezhetairoi on the EB main page, but i'm currently running a Mak campaign and haven't seen them. I also don't see anything about Makedonian reforms in the FAQ. please advise.

There is a reform, of sorts, needed to get them. You need to trigger the vanilla Marian reforms, which happens when any one of the cities in central Italy (Arretium, Capua, Ariminium, and maybe one or two others; someone else can probably tell you exactly which ones) reaches 'huge' size.

At least I think that's how it works.

It is. Get that vanilla Marian reform and a lot of things will happen. The Maks will get Hysteroi, the KH will get Phalangitai, the Baktrioi will get Hetairoi Kataphraktoi, the Pahlava get their Grivpanvar...anymore others, guys?

Wow, the unit looks stunning!

Btw the Hypaspitai unit description says that they later used mail instead of bronze plate, do they appear as a reformed unit for Makedonia after vanilla Marians?

No, they stay the same. As do the Macedonian Pheraspides, who already wear chainmail at the start of the game.

Expect a revised description for the Hypaspistai with 1.1.

As you see there is this amazingly beautiful evolved boetian helmet along with some mail found in what was Yugoslavia...

Does that ring a bell?

Hmmm...

I saw a Hysteric Pezhatairoi wandering the streets of Singapore not too long ago. Drunkenly mumbling something about "Lorica Segmentata".
Strange indeed. Is this what you were talking about? He was dressed rather strangely.

from the description...

Gone was the single greave and fully bronze shield, not to mention the linothorax. They were replaced with mail armor and a wooden composite (plywood) shield of similar strength but far less weight.

Of course, the known Pezhetairoi from Singapore has every right to mumble something about Lorica segmentata. I support him every step of the way!

Hey, does anybody know if the Hysteroi Pez will be more widely available than the regular Pez. the description says that the Maks started adopting non-hellenes into their numbers.
