O, that's exactly my type of customer

btw, RAR is just an archive which compresses files, WinRAR costs $$, however 7-Zip is free :)
Should work as you click archive, it opens in prog's window, you can extract it wherever you want (or actually need to)..

    b) vanilla with various mini-mods (formations, maps, fixes etc)

i change the morale to false,so to balance the game even enemy general suicide themself in the field.............but this is not good for settlement defenses, coz the city garrisons have to take out last of the enemy to win but not rout them easily by fighting in the city hall, the only flaw........

and add the trade route to the Carthage as they are flourish by trading in the history....

Vanilla with the Vanilla Balancing Mod. I also have added a few of my own customisations - giving all units three hitpoints and removing the power of the later Roman unit roster/increasing the power of that of other factions.

I've also removed the phalanx formation, finding it a little imbalanced/overtly powerful, but have given all units which did have phalanx capabilities dramatically improved stats.

Those are some interesting ideas, Omanes. How do you find your battles play out with those modifications? Do they just take longer, allowing for more tactical depth? Or is there also an effect on the relative strength between troop types?

Battles are overall a lot slower allowing for more time to implement tactics. Without the modification I would not have actually been able to play R:TW at all today - I got too used to M:TW battle structure.

Units also seem to route when they have fewer men in them as well, but I'm not sure whether that is just coincidence or not.

Removing the phalanx from the Greeks and then improving their stats a lot makes auto resolve appear much fairer when playing against a phalanx nation. Beyond that, on the battlefield, they pretty much act like they did when out of phalanx only with a lot more power.

The Romans often seem to be worse off and rarely manage to go into world domination style expansion mode later on (although I do think that VBM itself is helping to stop that). It does sort of remove some of the fun of the Marian reform though - most post-Marian units now are simply better looking versions of their predecessors with a tiny increase in stats here and there.
