you can make the flags go away in your preference.txt
One you can use to make screenshots is fraps. But you might also want to know how to use the moviecam.
I use Howie's Quick Screen Capture program.. I don't have a link to his webiste though; but I'm pretty sure someone will. You can turn flags and those annoying green arrows off in the Preferences text document in your RTW folder. Just change the line SHOW_BANNERS:TRUE to SHOW_BANNERS:FALSE and for the arrows DISABLE_ARROW_MARKERS:FALSE to DISABLE_ARROW_MARKERS:TRUE. I just cut out the bottom of the screen in Paint; hence the poor quality of the picture.

That's a nice one, I've never seen the gate like that.
Here's one from my Yuezhi campaign, whilst not being particularly artistic it was from a particularly satisfying battle - one of my many with Baktria. It shows a Baktrian army under their heir trying to force a river crossing defended by greek mercenaries taking Yuezhi gold.

I don't know if my monitor was screwed up, it was time for me to get a new graphics card, or if it was an in game feature, but those lights from heaven (in the same battle as the previous screenshot) were just stunning...
