Hello everyone. Have just started a campaign as Carthage. just wondering has anyone actually conquered the entire Sahara? Or is there any point?

The actual province of the Sahara is unconquerable without cheating.

This is since historically it´s basically impossible to control such a vast and unpopulated area, and besides, there´s no point in doing it. Even in modern times with satelites and aircrafts it´s almost more trouble then it´s worth.
Also, the Saharan city (Terhazza) stores some buildings that somehow keep track of the players progress. In the future, please read the FAQ, as your question is answered there.

Can´t we just have one big NOOB thread instead, where everyone who´s to lazy or stupid to read the FAQ can post thier wierd questions.

Question.

If I were to want to cheat to take Sahara and the province in the middle of Arabia...

How would I accomplish this?

Also, how badly will it screw up the workings of the script?

I have a question for you.
Why so many people are so bent on conquering Sahara?
Is this some childhood dream to have the biggest sand box?

Fantasy scenario where rapid Saharan desertification happened a few thousand years later than evidence points to. In this universe, in 272 BC, it is wasteland but not desert. And aliens are there! *creepy 50s scifi music plays*

As Carthage I got bored and used the move_character cheat to conquer it, aside from a very odd looking arabia nothing special seemed to happen

Its simply not worth it tbh

(you've got to use the move_character cheat because it is surrounded by impassible terrain)

@moosemanmoo:

Are you saying my Lorica Segmentata is boring? *sharpens nodachi with glint in eye*

On topic, I think people see the map in 'areas' so they don't like big patches of the map that just don't have your colour on it, that's all. Though I actually got a bit sick of seeing a sea of white that took up a quarter of the minimap so I really appreciated it when the EB team made it inaccessible.

@ pezhetairoi: put down that sword!
@ rest: Don't bother with the Eremos-it's not worth it...(even if the cheat is well known)

Makes me think of the old joke about the three guys who were flying over the Sahara. An Englishman, an Irishman and an American.
The Englishman looked down and said, "A sandy waste!"
The Irishman said, "The devil's home!"
The American shook his head and cried, "What a parking lot!"
