    Default Fate of Hitler

I'd like to make something very clear from the beginning - I have believed for my whole life that Hitler committed suicide, and I think it is a good riddance that he is dead. I just like to read conspiracy theories, and this television program was well done.

The reason I made this thread is because I saw an interesting special on potential Hitler survival scenarios. They include a small, two-seater plane spotted by Soviet forces taking off from Unter Den Linden, U-977, and others. The U-977 theory spawned a seven hundred page FBI document and a massive investigation, according to the program.

I was interested in what .ORGahs thought about this, and any other theories you may have heard.

At this point in history it's irrelevant. Even if he survived and escaped, which I see as a virtually nil possibility, it was into a life of utter meaninglessness. His mental illness by the end of the war had developed to the point that he was most often incoherent, deluded, and constantly trembling. It's unlikely that even an escape to some kind of neutral ground would have long extended his life.

In short, doesn't matter; the humiliating end of Nazism at Nuremburg put the matter to bed whether the man was dead by then or not. And, as you said, good riddance.

He'd be dead by now anyways, and the examination of dental records found in the Russian archives shows that Hitler was stone dead, the records were a very convincing forgery, or he was toothless.

I'm just interested in the theories, implausible as they are.

One of the reasons I find these theories implausible is that they all assume that Hitler would have been content to escape into obscurity and live as a gardener or school teacher in Latin America. I am positive that, like his fellow fanatic Goebbels, Hitler would have preferred suicide. With his cause lost, he had no reason to live.

I agree, the basic flaw with the 'Hitler escaped' theories is that they require Hitler to have a desire to live. Verified history shows exactly the opposite. He had plenty of opportunities to escape Berlin, but he intentionally remained behind because he wanted to die. In addition, if he had survived, the world would have heard of him again. He would not have been content to simply retire into a common life. Hitler would have attempted to continue the struggle and rebuild whatever he could. If he had survived, it would be common knowledge.

Well, it's like I said - they're all certainly implausible, but the theories themselves are very interesting. For example, you start to wonder who was in that airplane, or what that U-boat was doing.

Well, frankly, you've all got it wrong. Clearly, Hitler was abducted by a UFO while waiting for the Soviets in Berlin. He's currently in cryo-stasis orbiting the planet Zebulon.

You're all wrong. The only theory that was ever vaguely right was the film 'They saved Hitler's brain', but it was covered up by the US government, who took advantage of its low production values to get it passed off as a silly B-movie.

He's out there, in his glass jar, waiting for the day we perfect robotic bodies, so he can rise again, as...

    MECHA HITLER.

Without looking any further, I believe this story has been circulated for years by the UFO crowd. Am I right?

I'm not sure. I like reading about conspiracy theories - that doesn't mean I believe them.

The plane flight is actually very well documented. It was made by Hanna Reitsch, a famous woman test pilot and ardent Nazi supporter. She flew into Berlin with General von Greim on Hitler's orders. von Greim was promoted to Field Marshal during the visit and given command of the Luftwaffe. Hitler then ordered them both to leave Berlin and arrest Goering. Both protested and wanted to stay and die with Hitler, but he refused. Hanna Reitsch also begged Hitler to leave with them, but he refused that as well. They both escaped and were eventually captured by the Americans a few weeks later.

Hanna Reitsch, I remember that name, didn't she also test the manned V1?

Yep. She was actually the person who came up with the idea of German suicide pilots and helped create the manned V1 to further this project. It never went anywhere, though. She also tested several of the other advanced German projects, including the Me-163 and the Me-328.

Let's not forget one important name from this - Stalin. Old Father Sunshine, the paranoid psychopath. There were few stones he left unturned making sure the Archfiend indeed was dead - and let's just say that you wouldn't want to have been one of the witnesses to the man's final moments and ultimate fate, as they were grilled very thoroughly indeed by the Soviet intel thugs... (Who, as it happens, actually had to be relatively restrained while at it; for a change they were actually trying to get verifiable truths out of people, rather than brutalising them into "confessing" something...)
"Let us remember that there are multiple theories of Intelligent Design. I and many others around the world are of the strong belief that the universe was created by a Flying Spaghetti Monster. --- Proof of the existence of the FSM, if needed, can be found in the recent uptick of global warming, earthquakes, hurricanes, and other natural disasters. Apparently His Pastaness is to be worshipped in full pirate regalia. The decline in worldwide pirate population over the past 200 years directly corresponds with the increase in global temperature. Here is a graph to illustrate the point."

She also tested the Fw 61 - the first fully controllable helicopter.

I do remember reading that, but quite a long time ago.

I thought hitler had shot himself and bit the pill then had his most trusted men burn him and his wife in a ditch right outside the entrance to the bunker then they buried them. According to 'DownFall'

Also I believe Hanna Reitsch shot her husband and turned him over, or was that another general and his wife that im thinking of?

That would be Magda Goebbels, who killed her children in the bunker.

Hitler did commit suicide with a handgun/cyanide. This thread is just to show some conspiracy theories on what people think might have happened.

There's a great short story by Richard Kadrey called "Genocide" about an amnesiac Hitler being found by Border Patrol Agents in a truck full of illegal immigrants crossing the border from Mexico. Some political handlers get hold of him, clean him up, teach him an American accent, show him old footage of Reagan and JFK (whom he calls "Siegfried"), and gets him elected president and America falls apart as Hitler's mental state rapidly deteriorates. The whole thing is written as a series of introductions to a progression of computer games. If you can find a copy, it's a short, but very entertaining read.

Dunno about Hitler himself, but I've read some crazy theories about German submarine pens in Antartica, whose personel refused to accept the surrender. IIRC it was substantiated mostly with vague rumours of U-boat sightings years after the war, and some apocryphical statements attributed to Donitz. Maybe they're still there under the ice, waiting for the right time....

There was a novel about an SS officer who led a team that faked Hitlers suicide in the bunker and then tried to bring him out of Germany. They were tracked down by a Russian team who eventually captured Hitler alive. Stalin kept him in a cage and treated him like an animal until he died. The novel was The Berkut by Joseph Heywood.

Not exactly vague rumours. While the fact that they docked at Antartica is almost certainly false, U-Boats were spotted, and even captured, by the Allies well after the war. U-977 turned up in Mar del Plata, Argentina in mid-August, 1945 - well after V-E Day, and having spent sixty-six straight days completely underwater.

    Flying saucers, not U-boats!

Like I said, this nonsense stems from the UFO crowd. Here's the Truth, straight from the horse's mouth.

There are times I wish they’d just ban everything- baccy and beer, burgers and bangers, and all the rest- once and for all. Instead, they creep forward one apparently tiny step at a time. It’s like being executed with a bacon slicer.
