Question Accessing Rome: Total MUSIC files

I really enjoy the music in all aspects of the game. Roman campaign map music, the arabic flute melody with the "hey!" at the end, and most of all the main menu theme. I just love it all, compounded by the fact that I've spent hundreds of hours listening to it .

What I really am wondering is how do I access these files, whether it be the files on the computer or from the internet? Ultimately I want to put the music on my mp3 player. I will be eternally grateful to anyone who knows how to do this.

Thanks for the clarification. But my question still remains unanswered...

You need to go to data/sounds directory and unpack the Music files.

Hmm. Interesting. I was unaware that we can do that..... I previously just visited composer Jeff van Dyke's site to download selected tracks.

I'll try the things you posted, and let you know how it works out.

I am glad to report that the access to the music files went off with out a hitch. I have to give santanea juda the most credit. His link to that IDX extractor proved to be the most useful. However the creator of the extractor, Vercingetorix, could have made his instructions a little more idiot-proof. It took me a little while of tinkering before I finally extracted the files. But it all works out in the end.

Oddly enough I also extracted ALL the music files, including the grunts of pigs, the eastern generals' speeches, and everything in between. As I write this very post, I am listening to the music. Ahhh yes...
