Reinvent the British and you get a global finance center, edible food and better service. Reinvent the French and you may just get more Germans.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
like an older, softer Kodo. interesting.
now i'm here, and history is vindicated.
"Ondekoza" means "Demon Drummers". They were formed in 1969 to keep alive musical traditions of Japan. They are extremely serious and uncompromising about what they do. In the early '80s, some members split off to form Kodo, due to differing goals. Ondekoza moved from their original location (Sado Island) to reform in Kansai, while Kodo stayed in Sado. Both groups still perform some of the same pieces, including "Monochrome" and "Yatai-Bayashi".
In the 1975, Ondekoza became famous for running the entire Boston Marathon, then playing taiko onstage immediately afterwards.

On a local note: Shidara, a Japanese Taiko group, will be in my town this Sunday. I'm going, and will report back.
Be well. Do good. Keep in touch.
Kukri,
I almost went to see Shidara. If I had read your post before the show, I would have suggested we meet there. Shidara gave me lessons in taiko.
I will be at the Renaissance Faire at Felicita Park today and next Sunday playing drums for belly dancers. If you go, drop by and say hi.

I couldn't find some material to listen to Shidara.![]()
And how was the show then ?
