I'd like to know if there is any way to change the number of men in a unit.
It's for the purpose of finding out if a Iphikratean Phalanx could beat a legion cohort if they were on equal footing.
please advise.

Some people say I'm heartless. Shows what they know. I have three in a jar on my desk!
In that case step away from EB and build a time machine.
EB (great as it is) is still a game.
why don't you use the least common multiple between the number of men in the iphicratean phalanx and the number of men in the legion? then use as many units as required on each side.
Go to the rome total war folder, then the EB folder, then the DATA folder
Open export_descr_unit
Search for the unit you want to make the changes and change the number of soldiers in the "soldier" line
for example:
soldier carthaginian_cavalry_sacredband, 25, 0, 1 (there are 25 soldiers in this unit, in normal or small settings i think, in huge setting it's 4X this value)
If you change 25 to 30 you will now have 120 soldiers in huge settings
based on this, can I make a unit 256 men (trick question, but do answer)![]()

what is the maximum unit size, anyway?
In the descr units its scaled to normal size ie 240 would be 60Originally Posted by brymht

Guessing 240, as I'm CERTAIN if we could create a 600 man legion the EB people would have made it so.
240 is the hardcoded limit, with 3 officers at the most.
This space intentionally left blank.
is it possible to create any number under 240 (e.g: 65 or 77 (on large scale))?

Yeah, why not?
This space intentionally left blank.
I was worried-I heard about the harcoding and all and I feared I couldn't modify numbers![]()

not any number. the number is set on the EDU for normal size and then multiplied x2 for large setting andOriginally Posted by Ibrahim
x3x4 for huge setting. 77 for example is not possibile
also you can't go down certain values (don't remember which ones atm)
