Could someone give me the definition of an RPG and compare that to a Fantasy FPS? Exactly what is the difference between a Fantasy FPS and a Role-Playing Game?
I think you lot are just making things up now. :p

For one, FPS means First Person Shooter (I know everyone knows, yet......)
second, what do you mean when you say fantasy? Something that has not actually happened but is being portrayed is fantasy.......even World in Conflict is fantasy to a level.
Third, Oblivion or Morrowind, neither has any other ranged weapons save bows and spells........how do you call them FPSs I cannot make out.![]()
RPG is what fits them best far as I think. Fantasy RPG maybe.....

Link. Looks like they're in closed beta phase now - personally I'd advise not looking around there too much, because there are some spoilers on new content that came as something of a surprise.Originally Posted by TinCow

Well, nowadays, when RPG's are in fashion. every game that has some stat building calls itself an RPG. RPG's are much more than that.Originally Posted by Raz
Oblivion is an RPG in many ways, but I would classify it as a FPS with stat building rather than RPG....
But an FPS is a First Person Shooter - as in it's a First-Person perspective with guns... I always believed that a FPS referred to games like "BLACK", "Call of Duty", "Doom", "Red Faction", "HALO", "Quake" and "Unreal Tournament".
Anyway, I think you are getting confused a bit. The RPG genre has two subgenres, being Console Style and PC Style. Both are pretty distinctive. Console Style RPG's however, are very similar to action-adventure games like Zelda... which I think you are referring to when you say Fantasy FPS.
Now, with all those acronyms, I think I should click the "Submit Reply" button. =p
