R:TW Challenge-BLITZ!!!

My Averni campaign in EB has turned into a war of attrition with the germanic tribe so I think that now is a good time for me to take a break and come back to vanilla with my new arsenal of battlefield and strategic tactics that I have learned.

ATPG's M2:TW blitz campaigns have inspired me to try the same thing in R:TW.

So the challenge is to be the fastest player to conquer 50 provinces including Rome. Post the victory screenshot, years taken to win, version number, any mods used(preferrably only minor mods if any), and anything else you consider to be relevant.

I think that the best factions for this would be the Roman families, Egyptians, or Seleucids.

Not joining this, because my playing style is slow. But just yesterday I read about someone conquering fifty provinces as the Greek Cities by 257BC, which is only 25 turns from the start of the game. The Greek cities, I suppose, are ideal for a blitz, because their territories are so spread out in the first place.

This guy starts the game planning on doing it in 40 turns. He does it about 30 turns. My friend, when it comes to conquering the world fast, you've gotta choose a faction that is spread out thinly over a large area. The greeks are exactly what you need.

You should definately read indepth, on how he carried out his blitz strategy. I know from first hand.

Is it possible with Romans? I'll try as Julii although my playing style is normally slow i'm sure I can adapt to blitzing.

I think the Roman faction most suited for a blitz would be the Scipii-- they have easy access to Carthage and the soft underside of Greece, followed by Asia Minor.

Quite frankly I am flattered...

I think I will accept the challenge and play a little Rome at some point.

Ha! Let me get in a little practice first, mein freund.

It's been a while. I can't even call myself an expert at this point. I've all but forgotten vanilla. I got all wrapped up in R:TR, then BI, then M2TW, then LTC.

What, Rome vanilla? That's like... ancient! No pun intended.

Anyone else play as one of the Roman factions on Very Hard, Very Hard and attempt to 'steal' the other Roman territories and expand in all 3 directions at once?

Ohh! What wouldn't I give to be spat at in the face! I sometimes hang awake at night dreaming of being spat at in the face. My idea of heaven is to be allowed to be put in manacles... just for a few hours. They must think the sun shines out o' your arse, sonny. They must think you're Lord God Almighty. Oh, you'll probably get away with crucifixion. Best thing the Romans ever did for us. If we didn't have crucifixion, this country would be in a right bloody mess. NAIL HIM UP I SAY!!! NAIL SOME SENSE INTO HIM!!! Now, take my case. They hung me up here five years ago. Every night, they take me down for twenty minutes, then they hang me up again, which I regard as very fair, in view of what I done, and, if nothing else, it's taught me to respect the Romans, and it's taught me... THAT YOU WILL NEVER GET ANYWHERE IN THIS LIFE... UNLESS YOU'RE PREPARED TO DO A FAIR DAY'S WORK, FOR A FAIR DAY'S PAY!!!

Well .. my attempt with the carthage to blitz the RTW world had a nasty ending ...
my 2 main armies got defeated and my expansion got halted
perhaps i'll try with the seleucid or greeks this time
