Did you by any chance install it under program files? You should try to install it anywhere else.
Do you have some free hard disk space on the disk where you installed it?
Have you run memtest?

1. I believe it is under program files, but thats where Ive installed it every other time it worked ok.
2. Plenty of space, around 80 gigs, I just reformatted.
3. No memtest, I downloaded the free one but it says it needs a floppy disk, I dont have a floppy drive.
I just bought a new copy for cheap and am going to try that, my cd has seen hell and is scratched up, so maybe that is it.
Quite possibly... My own CD died a few weeks ago. Anyway, you can use the validation tool to see if any particular files are corrupted. It will of course be missing a lot of EB files, but it also validates the vanilla installation.

Hey man I just figured out how to run memtest.
I could only do 884 megs at a time, (I have 2 gigs) and before it got to 2% completed there were 5 errors!!
It said the PC was not able to store memory on RAM.
This isnt normal is it? I'm gonna pick up some RAM from newegg then see what happens.
Thanks for the memtest idea.
I had a lot of errors with my new RAM back when I got it. I got rid of them by slightly reducing the effective bus speed on them in my BIOS. If you're at all tech savvy, you should try fiddling with such settings before getting new chips. Just remember to make notes on the current values first, so you don't screw up something else permanently!
