    Default Preferences

Hmm, I cant seem to edit my preferences for EB.

I am basically trying to rid myself of those little green arrows..ive played with them for two years and would like to see what the game is like without them. Ive edited the preferences file to no avail. Ive even copied in a new preference folder, seeing as the EB data doesnt have one, and put in a preference file.

Is there not a file to edit it or am I simply missing something incredibly simple?

Do you have Windows Vista and have RTW installed under the "Program Files" directory?

Please install RTW and EB under another placement than Program Files. Vista has certain features that screw up EB when placed there.

Having problems getting EB2 to run? Try these solutions.

    A complete re-install eh?

    Can't move the files?

EDIT: And can I still use the same saves as long as I move them?

    BTW thanks

You can use the same saves, and it might work to move the whole RTW installation along with EB. And it might not, it depends how much Vista has done to it. Try to move it first, then put it back in order to uninstall and reinstall if it doesn't work.

You'll likely find that your save files are missing, just like your preferences.txt.

You can try looking for both in here:
    "C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Totalwar"
You can even try altering the preferences.txt you find there and see if it takes (I'm not sure if it will or not). If that is your only problem, and you solve it, then you may not need to reinstall. Though, Vista may cause more problems for you in the future.

I couldnt find the dict area of what you told me, so I searched "preferences" in the User folder...two files came up with their location in the same spot you told me they were in.

I changed one of them, the other was the way i wanted it.

Thanks, if this doesnt work then ill just re-install.
