POST FIFTEEN - TWILIGHT OF THE REPUBLIC
Caesar has decided to change his name yet again during his Gallic campaign, he is now Publius Avgvsts, This is not (as far as I know) the Augustan trait as I have been getting it as a name for around a century now on nearly every other character. Can somebody explain what it is please, along with corpulentus?
Anyway back to the AAR, Caesar is nearing the end of his conquest of Gall, with only 3 Gallic cities left in Gaul, there are several in Germania but I will just pay the Sweboz to finish them off. I sent Caesar with another small army to try and get a heroic victory and also to attempt to destroy the Arverni force near Cenabum, if I used my entire legion they would have been crushed easily but I wanted the heroic so had to put the odds against myself.
At last I managed to get Caesar his heroic victory and his Imperator trait, therefore making him legible for a truimph in Roma.
And sure enough the next turn I recieved a message about Caesar returning to Roma to claim his triumph. But first I had to finish the Gallic war.
Which is precisely what I did, Caesar remained in Cenabum to keep the peace but his legion went and took Dariotitum, which was extremely poorly defended.
At the same time another legion from Southern Gaul was sent to the one remaining Arverni city in Gaul. I decided to keep Caesar in Gaul for another year to keep the peace until I could get the shrines and regional pacification set up.
As for my potential Augustus, Spurius Aemilius Lepidus, he was coming along very well, he now had ''skilled bureaucrat'' and ''arrogans'', however he still lacked ''expert recruiter'', he has ''army connections'' but still needs to get it up to the next level then he will have all the required traits to seize power. He already has recruited 44 units, anybody have any idea how many it takes?
The following year in 54 BC, Caesar is ready to leave Gaul and make his march on Roma to seize dictatorship of the republic. I will make him faction leader as soon as he arrives in Roma and celebrates his truimph, and the republic will be on its knees.

Damn this is so cool. Its like watching the first season of Rome. This is one of the Best Roman AARs I have seen. Most take place at the beginning. This one is more advanced and poses different challenges. Keep up the good work. Hail Caesar!
Keep on going this good AAR!!
POST SIXTEEN - THE MARCH OF TIME
53 BC. Since Caesar left Gaul there has been a little trouble, Cenabum revolted several turns after he left back to the Arverni. Also Baktria took Trapezous back off me. Caesar arrived in Roma this turn, seizing the city and also began celebration of his triumphus. He is now the faction leader and the sole ruler of the repulic. He will remain so until 44BC, which is when I will get rid of him to represent his assassination by the conspirators.
Meanwhile in Gaul I sent a legion to the rebelious Gallic city. Resulting in this battle, which I managed to win and then enslave the city for a second time in a year.
51 BC, I noticed that my potential 1st emperor has the trait ''superbus''. Correct me if I am wrong but is this the trait required to get the reforms? Is all I need to do now is make his faction leader?
47 BC, the Republic has experienced several years with no fighting whatsoever. Something that hasn't happened in about 50 years. The mnai is rolling in, I am making around 75000 profit every turn now. I paid the Sweboz a large sum of mnai to attack the Arverni. Which they did spectacularly, taking two of their cities. The Arverni are now left with only 2 provinces left and very few troops. It will now most likely be a race between myself and the Sweboz in order to capture their two remaining provinces.
Caesar remains dictator of the republic, he is getting older now at 57 but still has it in him as he defeated a rebel force near Roma a few years back. Little does he know however that his days are numbered, with many powerful people in Roma plotting against the Dictator.

How effective are you finding Marian troops to be? Seems they can hold their own against some pretty long odds. I've been playing around with them in historical battles, and been pleasantly surprised at their durability.
It began on seven hills - an EB 1.1 Romani AAR with historical house-rules (now ceased)
Heirs to Lysimachos - an EB 1.1 Epeiros-as-Pergamon AAR with semi-historical houserules (now ceased)
Philetairos' Gift - a second EB 1.1 Epeiros-as-Pergamon AAR
They are, quite simply the best infantry in the game. Except for Naked Fanatics of course but they are easily dealt with pilum and cavalry charges.
I hope you get the Avgvstans after all the effort you've put in, it really is like watchin a drama unfold. The best romani aar imo.
Thanks, I have been playing this save since December so its been a lot of time and effort. Never got bored with it once though, something that has never happened to me on any Total war mod. I have never played it down to the ending.
Great AAR! Also cool that your "Augustus" is named Lepidus- a man named Lepidus was part of the second triumvirate along with Octavian (Augustus) and Mark Antony.
Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer: The Gameroom
Although equally ironic given what an incompetent non-entity the real Lepidus appears to have been.Originally Posted by Chaotix27

Keep it comming man. I love to see the Late Romani in Action![]()
Great as usual. And I agree this is the best Roman AAR I have seen in a long time. Awesome job!
I am debating whether or not to reinact the second triumvirate after Caesar is dead. Or to just get the Augustan reforms straight away in 44 BC.
I always say err on the side of patience. Second Triumvirate for the win!Originally Posted by thelord

POST SEVENTEEN - IDUS MARTIAE
45 BC, I have finally managed to take the two cities on the eastern border with Baktria, Trapezous and Ani-Kamah, Baktria suffered yet another rebellion so sent their troops to recapture the city, which allowed me time to go and snatch the two lightly defended cities.
44 BC, In a move that nobody who reads this AAR could see coming, Julius Caesar has been assassinated on the Ides of March by the conspirators! The people of Roma mourned his death and quickly forgot about him as they always do when the faction leader is replaced.![]()
Following Caesar's death, the second Triumvirate was soon set up to rule Roma. With my Augustan wannabee along with two other family members who for the purpose of this AAR are only there to simulate the Triumvirate.
I have decided it is time to invade Eygpt and turn it into an allied state, I will Romanise it when Augustus comes to power. I sent a legion with 2 roman family members to Alexandria, one to command and one to manage, the city was lightly defended but there are several stacks nearby so it will most likely lead to a large engagement before I can truly say I own Alexandria, but for now the city is mine.

Excellent, did you manage to get the augustans
Nice job. Go get Mark Antony and Cleopatra!! Great job can't wait for more. How did you get your Caesar killed?
Nope no Augustans as of yet, can somebody tell me the name of the trait needed?
I killed Caesar by sending him alone against a rebel army.![]()
Ouch!
bad new people, I have hit a persistent CTD at winter 44BC on the Ptolemaioi's turn, hopefully I can sort if out.
Well I've tried everything I can think of, and nothing has worked, I think it may be the bug where it forces the 3 roman factions from vanilla to go to war. I will keep the save incase someone can fix it but for the meantime it looks like this AAR is dead.Looks like I will install 1.1 now.
Thanks for reading and I'm sorry it couldn't be finished. Fingers crossed that it can be sorted.
Oh Jeez. Head over to the bug forum and let Bovi know whats up. He likely has some options for you. Do not give up yet!
Try playing a few turns without the script.
I did, no difference. I have uninstalled 1.0 and have 1.1 in, I will start a 1.1 Romani AAR. I know people will think that the ones from the start date are bland and repetitive and they finish by 220 BC, but I will play it all the way through. I hope the faithful readers of this AAR will migrate to my new one and follow it. I am eager to try out the new features in 1.1 so I am not too bothered about the loss of my 1.0 save.
Once again thanks everyone for following this and I hope to see you posting in my new one!
oh man you gave up :( so sad
That's a shame about the persistent CTD. I've been advancing at a comfortable snail's pace in my Romani campaign with the intention of reaching 14 AD, but maybe I should just update to 1.1. This was an extremely interesting AAR while it lasted, best of luck with your new one!
