    Default Tried posting??

Hey I've tried posting, and I don't have sufficient privelages.

I'm trying to figure out why i can't copy my saves file from my laptop and paste them in the RTW directory where the save files are saved by default.

This is annoying, I have the RTW gold edition any assistance would be great.

    Thanks

    Welcome

its that you area a junior member, it's something some of the members have suggested that it be removed but i believe it is some form of a safe guard against spammers. Talk to Tosinua(I swear I will never in my life remember how to spell his name. I AM SORRY MY GOD!!!) and if he deems you member material he'll be able to make it happen.

    Hello Undergrad08,

You are trying to copy saves from the laptop to the desktop I presume? Are you using Windows XP and do you have administrator privileges on the desktop?

Can you copy the files to another location on the desktop, for example your My Documents folder?

    Hey thanks!

Tosainu, are you able to help me with my posting issue. I'm a huge RTW fan, I've spent 24 hour days playing the game in single player, mainly cause i'm into the whole ancient rome vibe. I would frequent this site often for tips and may provide some input of my own.

I am using win xp, i have full admin rights, it spastes into the RTW directory on the desktop no problem, only when i run the game from the cd, click load campaign, .sav files appear, i click on any one to load the game...it lkooks as if it's loading then returns me to the home screen, this started happening after I copied my .sav from a win vista machine on to my win xp desktop. Hasn't loaded a saved game since, and it sucks that i have to play it on the laptop.

    Hello Undergrad08,

The problem is then that saves from one copy are not recognised by the other.
Are both identically patched? And to which?

Hey, i'm not quite sure what you mean by identically patched, though i can say that on both desktop and laptop all i did was install RTW gold edition from the same CDs. I haven't installed any patches on either. Only once have my saves from on PC work on the other.

    Thanks again for assisting me!

By patches he means are both up-to-date, such as v1.6 (for Gold), but if you installed the same disc on two different computers then it should be fine.

How are you sending the files to the other computer? If its by internet, try zipping the saves/rar-ing the saves to prevent corruption.

EDIT: And by the way, it seems you have Vista on your laptop. Make sure that you have enabled full security privelages on both the laptop and the desktop. For Vista, you have to right-click, go to proporties, go to security, click "go advanced", then check the little box the selects all. After that, be sure to save settings. Vista does a great job of making simple things harder (), so it might have gone un-noticed if you are new to Vista.

Also, since you say you are very interested in the Roman era, try the total conversion mod EB. It is a completley historically accurate full-conversion mod. It doesn't overwrite any files, so if you dont like it you can just delete it, but it does take an hour or so to download. Trust me, it worth it.

    Hope I helped

What seems to be the problem, you cant post that often??? They try to stop spammers by limiting the amount of posts you post per hour

Hey Truepraetorian, thanks for your help I'm transfering the files via USB key, and I'm running xp on both laptop and desktop. I started a new game on the xp laptop copied the saves folder, and overwrote the saves folder on the xp desktop. The reason i mentioned vista was because I play the game so often that when I travel i carry the installation cds and it happened that I installed the game on a vista laptop. I copied the saves from the vista laptop and overwrote the saves on the xp desktop. My problem of loading and returning to the home screen started from there. Now even though the laptop im using now has the same OS as the desktop, none of the saves load at all. Prior to overwriting the desktop saves with the vista saves, copying from xp laptop to xp desktop wasn't an issue. No patches installed at all, out of the box install on both PC.

    Default Sv: Tried posting??

What about uninstalling the game on the PC which doesn't work anymore, reinstalling, and then overwrite the save directory again?
